BDB Chapter 60
It was summer.
The weather was hot but clear.
So the next day was still a cloudless, perfect day.
Jiang Rao slept well, without any dreams.
However, for some unknown reason, she naturally woke up before seven o’clock.
With the warm light streaming through the gap in the curtains, she thought for a moment and walked to the window to pull the curtains open.
The sunlight didn’t immediately flood in, as the sun seemed to have just peeked over the misty mountains.
The rising sun was dazzling and bright, and she suddenly felt a surge of excitement. She put on a jacket over her pajamas and, wearing slippers, walked out of the ancient castle.
Perhaps her steps were very light, or perhaps the man had been so exhausted from taking care of her all day yesterday that her departure didn’t disturb him.
She headed towards where the sun was rising. Some places seemed close, but when she actually moved to touch them, they were far too distant to reach.
However, by the time she realized she was getting herself into a pointless endeavor, she had been wandering for an unknown amount of time and had unknowingly reached the iron fence that separated the ancient castle from the outside world.
Finding her way back was not easy. The ancient castle, built halfway up the mountain, was enormous, and the surroundings were filled with indistinguishable plants and flowers.
Although she had stayed outside for quite a while, she was still surprised when, stepping back into the morning light that had risen above her head, and pushing open the ancient castle door, she heard a crisp sound of heavy objects hitting the floor.
She was stunned and lifted her hand to knock on the door.
There was no response from inside for a while.
Thinking she might not have knocked hard enough, she increased her force slightly.
Still, there was no response.
Her delicate skin made even this level of force painful, and her palms had already turned red.
After staring at her red palms for a few seconds, she bit her lip and said, “Li Jue—”
But before she could finish calling his name, the door in front of her suddenly opened from the inside.
He was taller than her, and not expecting the door to open so suddenly, she was just about to look up at him when she found herself pulled into his embrace.
He held her tightly. She couldn’t see his expression, but as her gaze passed over his chest to the nearby floor, the scattered pieces of broken vases told her of his unhappy mood.
She was puzzled, “What’s wrong with you?”
He still didn’t make a sound, just as he ignored her knocking at the door even though he was right on the other side.
Jiang Rao didn’t like this habit of his. Just as she was about to ask her question again, she noticed that the hands holding her back had started to tremble slightly.
Then he asked, “Where did you go?”
His voice was cold, and Jiang Rao finally understood why he was angry.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she said, “I originally wanted to go see the sunrise, but I walked too far and got lost…”
Her voice grew softer, but she sensed that his tense body seemed to begin relaxing. However, she wasn’t finished, and still felt awkward, “I ended up searching for a long time, taking a few wrong turns before I finally found my way back.”
Her face was flushed, and her voice was soft and tender.
Everything she displayed was exactly what he liked.
The gloom on Li Jueyan’s face had turned into warmth the moment she began to explain.
His girl hadn’t remembered those things.
She hadn’t left him without a care.
But when he looked down and saw the bloodstains on her back, his eyes couldn’t help but dim.
How could he still not control himself? He either hurt others or hurt himself.
Would they really not repeat the mistakes of their past lives? Could he truly live happily with her forever?
While lost in these thoughts, he felt one of his wrists being grasped by her.
Visible to the eye, her face’s blush faded, replaced by anxiety, “Did you get hurt when you accidentally broke the vase?”
His chest felt oddly itchy, but he couldn’t contain his smile.
It was possible.
As long as she no longer remembered those memories, they would never repeat the past.
As long as she cared for him, he would have no negative emotions, and they would definitely have a good life together.
After she finished bandaging his wound, Li Jueyan told her about his plan to introduce her to his parents.
Jiang Rao’s hand, which was still tying the bandage, paused. “But I don’t remember anything. What if I act very rudely…”
She also had her own concerns, afraid that others might dislike her.
Especially if those who disliked her were her fiancé’s parents.
It wouldn’t benefit her in any way and would put him in a difficult position.
Li Jueyan, feeling pushed, didn’t understand what she was struggling with.
But the issue wasn’t a problem at all, “Whether it’s rude or not doesn’t matter. They won’t see it anyway. Even if they did, knowing that I’m not stubbornly following my youthful ideas, they would probably be happy to laugh it off.”
“Youthful ideas?”
“I—” He stopped himself from using the term he almost said, as he caught her puzzled look.
Seeing the confusion in her eyes deepen, he smiled and said generously, “Jiang Rao, it seems I’ve become the kind of person I once hated the most.”
“I used to hate that my parents only saw the other person in their eyes, but now, it seems I can only see you.”
His confession came as a complete surprise.
Jiang Rao felt a bit dazed, but at the same time, her heart was stirred with ripples of emotion.
She couldn’t help but feel some regret, regret over her memory loss. In the lost period of time, they must have had many sweet and wonderful memories.
His eyes were shining brightly.
She couldn’t read minds, but her guilt made her want to make it up to him in some way.
So she said, “I can only see you too, Li Jueyan.”
Li Jueyan was taken aback, then immediately pulled her into his chest, tucking her head under his chin.
Fuck! Is this an angel?
His girl was so damn sweet when she didn’t resist him!
Li Jueyan’s words were unclear, but Jiang Rao guessed at some possibilities. However, since she felt the topic was a bit sensitive and she wasn’t a particularly curious person, she didn’t ask further.
It was only after lunch, when she saw the black dress without any lace trim that he had brought her, that she confirmed her guess.
After all, this man liked to dress her in pastel colors. The bedding and overall design of the room she stayed in were all in pink and white tones. Her nightgown was a light pink-blue with a lace-trimmed cartoon pattern on the front, and even her slippers were adorable.
So, the clothes he had prepared for her should have been in a cute style.
But instead, the dress had a somewhat professional feel to it.
As expected, the place he took her to was a cemetery.
