It seems like this is the first time the two of them have truly faced each other.
Yao Yao knows that Chong Yan is the ancient demon.
And Chong Yan knows that she is the one who gave him the rose.
Their encounters in life are so miraculous, and yet they still meet, at this moment.
Yao Yao wiped away the small pearls from the corners of her eyes and crawled out of his stiff, icy embrace. She looked up at him with red eyes.
Chong Yan is no longer in his semi-human, semi-beast uncontrollable form, but his thoughts still seem to be in a state of bestial transformation — chaotic, helpless, and with heavy breathing.
But he struggles and hoarsely tells her that he’s okay.
Then, with his hand that has just transformed back into five fingers from a hooked claw, he instinctively and slowly reaches out to look at the finger she cut.
“I’m not in pain anymore,” Yao Yao says softly.
Her hand wasn’t really injured to begin with. Without crying out, it would have healed on its own. She only felt aggrieved by the wounds, big and small, on Chong Yan’s body and his long history of being bullied in his demonic life.
So, Yao Yao shrinks her finger, hiding it from his view, and then slowly realizes that what her hand touched was not his clothes, but his cold, pale skin.
His clothes were torn, and her hand reached inside.
It wasn’t intentional.
Even when Yao Yao was clinging to his back in his monstrous form, climbing onto his head and neck, hugging his horn, crying and sobbing, it didn’t seem out of place.
However, at this moment, she unconsciously withdraws her hand, hiding it behind her back.
She pinches her finger.
Normally, Chong Yan would hurriedly turn his face away.
But now, he lowers his eyes and simply gazes at her. Those two identical amber-gold round pupils continue to dilate slightly. It takes Chong Yan a moment to understand the meaning behind her actions.
She touched his skin.
And then she withdrew her hand.
His flesh, ugly.
So Chong Yan slowly extends his hand, holding onto his tattered clothing, wanting to cover himself up.
On this day, with his half-human, half-beast monstrous form and his twisted, damaged body, he is subjected to the judgments of countless pairs of eyes. The feeling of shame has been etched into his chaotic nerves, so even though he is in human form now, he wants to hide.
Yao Yao understands his actions and instantly feels a sourness in her heart.
But Chong Yan is undeniably the most handsome.
Even in his monstrous true form, with all the wounds, he is still the most magnificent demon.
Now that both of his eyes have returned, his divine and symmetrical features are even more strikingly complete. From his eyebrows and eyes, to his nose bridge, and even to his lips, which he self-consciously purses, they are like the most exquisite sculptures.
“Beautiful,” Yao Yao stares into his eyes, wanting to tell him, “You’re very beautiful.”
But he doesn’t believe it.
Chong Yan breathes in her scent, quiet yet silent.
Yao Yao knows that Chong Yan has taken human form again, but the power of the ancient demon still lingers within him.
The symbols on the rose in the small flower pot were definitely not planted by her. Most likely, they attached those symbols to the rose through something else, and unfortunately, Chong Yan didn’t have any defense against her rose.
She also has to take responsibility for this matter. Yao Yao has to find a way to remove these symbols; otherwise, Chong Yan’s consciousness will remain trapped in a state of chaos, which is not safe.
The urgent matter is to leave this place.
The whole world is watching the abyss, and the influence of Jun Capital is also troublesome. Now that the formation is broken, Chong Yan no longer needs to be trapped here.
Chong Yan looks at her for a while, but suddenly speaks, slowly and clearly.
“Fiancée.”
She, his fiancée.
“Oh,” it’s only now that Yao Yao remembers this dead person.
She looks around and sees a human-shaped pit on the distant ice wall. Looking down from that pit, she sees the male protagonist lying on the ground, not knowing if he’s dead or alive.
“Just wait for a moment,” Yao Yao runs over to him in a hurry.
Chong Yan dilated pupils shrink slightly.
She’s going to find her fiancé.
She’s running towards him.
The sense of frenzy surges up again within the him, his hand hanging by his side clenches, and the bone spurs spread coldly. The feeling of being suppressed starts to boil again, like the sadness of not being able to protect the rose.
It’s true.
She really liked him.
Then the icy eyes of Chong Yan saw the girl scoop up a handful of dirt onto the man lying on the ground.
Yao Yao buried him.
Of course, before burying him, she first rummaged through Li Cangyan’s body to see if there was anything that could break the curse.
In the end, this matter was very peculiar.
Why did Li Cangyan have that talisman, and who gave it to him?
If that red light talisman was truly related to the array prohibition in the sky, it would be something from the ancient past. How did Li Cangyan manage to obtain it so quickly?
Although the male protagonist was the child of the world’s fortune, this fortune also had its ups and downs. To acquire such a thing and dare to confront the ancient demon directly, it felt like being chased from behind with a golden finger.
Yao Yao stroked her chin.
Who was behind him?
At present, the male protagonist was in a state of disarray, and Yao Yao couldn’t find anything useful from him. So, she decided to cover Li Cangyan’s face, which was covered in blood, with handfuls of soil, burying his entire body.
A simple burial.
After burying him, Yao Yao clapped her hands and returned to Chong Yan’s side.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Chong Yan’s dual pupils continued to watch her intently, making sure that she truly no longer wanted her fiancé and had returned to his side.
No.
Good.
His tail, for some unknown reason, involuntarily took on a physical form, unconsciously shaking. It swept across the ground behind Yao Yao and gently encircled her slender figure, unconsciously tightening.
A sour and obscure sense of submission slowly took root in his chaotic consciousness.
No one else.
Only him.
Yao Yao lowered her head and saw the silver patterned scales of the tail wrapped around her waist, as if being entwined by a cold-blooded reptile. Yet, she felt no fear at all and automatically interpreted it as the beast being friendly towards her.
So, she avoided the wounds on the tail and patted it in a friendly manner. “Alright, alright, my friend.”
Yao Yao had made plans and decided on the next main tasks.
First, she would avoid her own role’s fate in the power of the story and use her own strength to protect herself, protect her brother, and protect Chong Yan.
Second, she would gradually heal Chong Yan’s injuries, even if the wounds were bigger than a house, she would eventually be able to fill them.
Then, she would find the other scattered organs of Chong Yan.
Lastly, Yao Yao could bring him back home and visit her father and mother’s memorial tablet with Chong Yan, telling him that they were the parents who took care of her in her childhood.
Yao Yao made her plans and left a message for her brother before leaving, assuring him.
Once everything was prepared, Yao Yao finally raised her round, bright eyes and looked at Chong Yan’s amber pupils.
“Let’s go, Chong Yan.”
Behind her, the Forsaken Abyss lay in ruins. The ancient demon had been imprisoned here for thirty thousand years.
And now, Yao Yao reached out her hand to him, ready to take him away.
So small, so delicate.
But her resolute choice made the Chong Yan’s tail tighten more and more. But she was so fragile and vulnerable that the Chong Yan dared not exert force.
Numerous feelings surged within his frozen heart, a mix of chaos and bitterness. Finally, he slowly took out the rose hidden beneath his clothes.
Because of the blue flame mark pressed against his frozen heart, the rose petals had frosted slightly.
But even in the most ferocious state of beastification, Chong Yan had always protected it, and Yao Yao had seen it.
So she said, “Don’t be afraid.”
Yao Yao’s warm little hand gently caressed the rose, emitting a soft golden light that was warm and comforting, causing the rose to regain its vitality.
It reflected clearly in Chong Yan’s eyes.
Then he carefully put away his little rose and raised his palm.
Under the power of the Chong Yan, all the “gifts” he had treasured in the Forsaken Abyss for thirty thousand years, as well as the remaining three hundred and sixty-five roses, were all carefully collected.
As if carrying all his belongings, he walked with her.
Yao Yao looked at everything, her previously wrinkled heart now unfolding, and she smiled, pursing her lips.
“Let’s go out and see the outside world.”
It may be unfamiliar to him, and he may struggle to fit in, but he will encounter everything he was meant to see there.
