Chong Yan gently held her arm.
And in the next moment, Yao Yao felt herself soaring.
Yao Yao was about to open her eyes, but Chong Yan’s icy voice echoed above her head, “Stay closed.”
Yao Yao obediently kept her eyes closed.
Her little demon could actually fly, how cool.
Meanwhile, the snail-liked demon that had been taken from her hand and happened to be witnessing the scene turned into a solid mass in mid-air out of sheer fright.
The ancient demon spread his wings, his tattered wings covering the sky, and with a single flap, he could fly thousands of miles.
This scene was simply reminiscent of ancient evil legends.
The Forsaken Abyss stood tall, a thousand meters high, and seemingly bottomless, yet it only took a few moments to reach the ground.
Yao Yao was gently placed on the ground.
As she opened her eyes, she didn’t see any wings or flying swords or boats. She scratched her head.
The scenery on the cliff was vastly different now.
Looking from here, she realized that the Abyss she had stayed in for several days was just a wide crack, cold and deep.
In the distant place behind her, the Spirit Continent was filled with vibrant greenery, enveloped by a colorful spiritual barrier.
But in Yao Yao’s eyes, it wasn’t particularly appealing.
At least the Abyss was cooler than over there.
Yao Yao took a few steps forward, but Chong Yan remained still behind her.
Yao Yao turned around and waved her small hand, beckoning him, “Come here.”
However, she didn’t know.
In the eyes of the demon, countless tripod jade turtle talismans floated around, intertwining and extending blood-colored arrays that covered an area of several miles. The endless red runic light reflected in his heterochromatic pupils, flowing rapidly.
When he appeared on the edge of the cliff, the talismans were already buzzing and trembling, warning him not to trespass.
And Yao Yao, with her delicate physique, easily crossed the array barrier, standing with him as if in two different worlds.
The seemingly empty void had become tangible, and for the first time, the ancient demon became acutely aware of the gap that existed between him and her.
Chong Yan had once sacrificed himself for her, and it didn’t matter if he died.
But now that he had found her, he didn’t want to die or let her know.
So Chong Yan slowly shook his head, “I won’t go.”
His silver hair cascaded down, like the cold and withered trees beneath the cliff that had endured for thousands of years.
Yao Yao exclaimed, “Ah,” realizing that the little demon really didn’t want to leave the Abyss.
Yao Yao felt a bit regretful, but quickly opened up. It’s okay, she would come back after settling things, and next time she would take the little demon with her to have fun. Someone as good-looking as him would surely be popular anywhere.
“Okay then.”
Chong Yan quietly watched her, about to leave.
“Do you have anything for me to carry with me?” Yao Yao’s lips curled up into a smile that could melt ice, with warmth that could thaw even the coldest hearts. “This way, it will be like we’ve walked together.”
Chong Yan’s eyelashes blinked twice.
“Yes, I do.”
He couldn’t help but say it twice.
“Is this a gift for me?”
Yao Yao held the translucent ice pendant in her hands, her expression filled with surprise. “It’s so beautiful.”
Chong Yan’s face turned pale, but he carefully observed her expression.
It was the first thing he had ever given her, and she accepted it.
She liked it.
This ancient demon would only ever be kind to one person in his lifetime.
Because she accepted it, the sourness in Chong Yan’s chest dissipated a little.
Yao Yao happily held it, looking at it in the sunlight.
Little demon didn’t have money or anything valuable, Yao Yao knew that best. But it was the first gift she received from the little demon, even if it was just a piece of string, she liked it.
The snail-liked demon, abandoned to the side, slumped its head on the ground, the look of a dejected demon on its face.
That was a rib from the heart of the ancient god-demon.
Taken directly from the divine body, cleaned with the water of the extinguishing void and refined with ancient ice flames into a translucent glass-like bone pendant. In reality, it was a part of the ancient god-demon.
It still retained the power of the ancient demon, capable of intimidating the entire abyss, protecting her from the invasion of spiritual beasts, cutting through almost anything in the world, and even reshaping the perfect body of all living beings.
And now, it was being tossed around by this ignorant little brat.
The snail’s head slumped back down. Damn it.
Yao Yao put the snail in her pocket, carrying the “little trinket” from Chong Yan, and waved goodbye to him.
For a young girl, every farewell meant the anticipation of the next reunion.
But for Chong Yan, thirty thousand years was too long, every farewell felt like a loss.
Chong Yan watched as she gradually became smaller dots.
Touching the spot where his rib used to be, he sat down in place.
With the bone pendant in her hand, he could feel the warmth from her palm.
He could still sense her body temperature, her vigorous heartbeat, and the environment she faced.
Chong Yan waited quietly.
After an unknown amount of time, he heard the bustling sounds of people on the Spirit Continent, people approaching her to strike up conversations, the constant cries of the market, and various things he had never heard before.
While behind him, there was only an abyss, a wasteland.
Chong Yan could sense that she was leaving happily, absorbing information from all directions. He could hear her softly reciting the notices posted around town.
The Sword Saint’s invitation to battle, Li Cangyan inviting the extraordinary expert who snatched the Divine Weapon Dragon Spine Sword to join the demon-slaying competition.
Ji Rong, breaking through, currently rushing towards the Wuji Sect at a speed of a thousand miles per hour.
Chong Yan heard that she knew all these people.
But who was Ji Rong?
And who was Li Cangyan?
The sense of the world tearing apart grew stronger, even stronger than when she had never appeared.
However, at that moment, Chong Yan felt his rib pendant shift position, touching something soft.
It was close to her heart.
How could there be a softer spot on this already incredibly soft girl?
She placed him there.
The ancient demon lowered his eyes, bewildered for a moment, then suddenly stood up from his original spot.
______
Yao Yao stood at the foot of the Wuji Sect, wearing the bone pendant around her neck, proudly patting the bone pendant on her chest.
“Chong Yan, look at how amazing I am.”
But as she took a few steps, she suddenly exclaimed, “Huh?”
Why did the bone pendant on her chest feel hot?
It was scorching hot.
