The manager liked people like Ji Yunzhi who were eager to earn money. In this line of work, only those who wanted to make money would last long.
“I believe you can do it.”
After Ji Yunzhi changed into the same uniform as the other employees, the manager took him around the bar and explained his duties.
Ji Yunzhi listened carefully and memorized everything. His job was to sell drinks to customers, and if they asked him to stay and drink with them, he was to pour drinks for them.
Hmm, Ji Yunzhi thought it sounded pretty simple.
It was just selling things, after all.
When Ji Yunzhi carried drinks into a private room for the first time, the manager, seeing his somewhat clueless expression, couldn’t help but repeatedly remind him:
“Be sweet-tongued, make sure to flatter them.”
“And always keep smiling, okay?”
Ji Yunzhi nodded vigorously. “Got it~”
He went in but came out shortly after, empty-handed. The manager, who had been waiting outside to assess his skills, was surprised.
“Sold already?”
Ji Yunzhi grinned and nodded. “Yep, it was super easy.”
The manager smiled in satisfaction. That million he spent wasn’t wasted. The two bottles he had given Ji Yunzhi were worth 200,000 each, and he hadn’t expected them to sell so quickly.
What’s more, the customers didn’t even ask Ji Yunzhi to stay and drink with them—they just let him leave.
Ji Yunzhi suddenly remembered something and quickly pulled a wad of cash from his pocket, handing it to the manager.
“The customers gave me this. They said it was… was…”
The manager pushed the money back toward him. “That’s your tip. You can keep it.”
Ji Yunzhi: “!!!”
“If I keep the tips, will you still pay me my salary?”
The tips only amounted to a thousand, but the manager had promised a salary of over ten thousand. He knew which was more important.
The manager found Ji Yunzhi adorably naive. “Of course you’ll get your salary. And you can keep the tips too.”
“So from now on, any money people give me, I can keep it all?”
“Mhm, you can.”
Ji Yunzhi’s eyes sparkled at the thought. If this kept up, he’d be rich in no time! He immediately urged the manager to bring him more drinks.
He wanted to make money!
Lots and lots of money!!!
At first, Ji Yunzhi was enthusiastic about selling drinks, but later, he noticed the customers were acting stranger and stranger—they kept touching him, and he hated it!
Just now, in one of the private rooms, not only did the customer refuse to buy his drinks, but they also tried to grab him and wouldn’t let him leave.
If there was no money to be made, Ji Yunzhi wouldn’t stay a second longer. He still had drinks to sell! He shook off the person’s hand, grabbed the bottles, and ran.
After working for a while, he got hungry. He set the drinks aside and crouched in a corner, pouting as he called Ji Tian’en.
“Brother, I’m so hungry…”
“I don’t want to work here anymore. Can I switch to somewhere else?”
Ji Tian’en had already received the money and couldn’t be bothered with this idiot. He replied impatiently:
“If you’re hungry, go eat. Why are you calling me?”
“If you don’t work there, where else can you go?”
“Just stay put and deal with it.”
With that, he hung up.
Ji Yunzhi blinked in confusion, staring at the disconnected call. He dialed Ji Tian’en again.
“Hello, Brother—”
“You moron, don’t call me ‘brother,’ and don’t call me again!”
Ji Yunzhi pouted in frustration, unable to understand why Ji Tian’en had suddenly changed.
Before, he had always been so kind to him, but now he was calling him an idiot…
“Then… when I get time off, will you still come pick me up and take me home for good food?”
“Get lost! Don’t even think about coming home again in this lifetime!”
After hanging up, Ji Tian’en immediately blocked Ji Yunzhi’s number to prevent him from calling again.
Ji Yunzhi wiped his tears, buried his face in his knees, and hugged his legs tightly, trembling slightly.
“Liar!”
“You liar! Big fat liar!”
“We pinky-promised! You’ll turn into a dog! A dog!”
“Wahhh…”
“I’m so hungry…”
“I miss my husband…”
Suddenly, he remembered he still had money in his pocket. His mood instantly lifted, and he pulled out the cash to look at it.
He could buy his own food!
Ji Yunzhi scrambled up from the floor, already imagining what he would eat, when someone else working at the bar rushed over and grabbed his arm.
“The manager’s looking for you. Come on!”
“Hey—wait, I… I don’t want to—”
Before he could resist, the person dragged him stumbling all the way to the manager.
The manager had just gotten a call from Ji Tian’en, warning him to keep a close eye on Ji Yunzhi, so he immediately sent someone to fetch him.
Now that he knew Ji Yunzhi wanted to quit, his attitude turned much colder.
He had paid a fortune for this kid—he wasn’t letting him leave until he’d earned his worth.
“Ji Yunzhi, you’re going to Private Room 606 with these five. Make sure the guests there are happy.”
Ji Yunzhi glanced at the five others standing nearby, then lowered his head and tugged at his pants, whispering,
“I don’t want to go… They never buy my drinks anyway.”
“I’m hungry. Can I go eat?”
The manager snapped, “No! Do you even realize how little you’ve sold today?!”
“Go to Room 606. If you do well, you can eat. Otherwise, you’re going hungry tonight!”
Not wanting to starve, Ji Yunzhi reluctantly agreed. “Fine…”
Inside Room 606, the manager led Ji Yunzhi and the others in.
After a quick greeting, the five immediately dispersed, smoothly settling onto the laps of the guests, laughing and flirting with practiced ease.
Seeing Ji Yunzhi still frozen in place, the manager shoved him forward.
“Just do what they’re doing. Learn from them.”
Ji Yunzhi watched in horror as the others kissed and groped the guests. He shuddered and instinctively took a step back.
One guest, left without a companion, slammed his drink down in annoyance.
“Manager, what’s wrong with this one?!”
“Does he even know how to play?”
“If he doesn’t, then get the hell out and send someone else!”
The manager quickly forced a smile. “Mr. Li, he’s new—young and a bit clueless.”
“Never done this before. You’ll have to… teach him.”
Hearing that Ji Yunzhi was a fresh face, Mr. Li’s gaze swept over him, lingering on his delicate features. A predatory gleam flickered in his eyes.
With a dismissive wave, he said, “Alright, get out.”
The manager nodded eagerly, relieved the guest seemed interested, then hurried away.
