Su Yuyan crossed his arms and leaned lazily against the wall, shielding Ji Yunzhi behind him.
His face was full of disdain as he glared at the furious Mr. Li in front of him, along with the few older men trailing behind him.
Ji Yunzhi had been forced to drink a glass of strong liquor, and now his head was spinning as he hid behind Su Yuyan, leaning against the wall and struggling to keep himself from sliding to the ground.
Mr. Li glared at Su Yuyan, pointing at his nose and warning,
“I suggest you mind your own damn business and get the hell out of the way!”
With that, he tried to step around Su Yuyan to grab Ji Yunzhi back.
He had no idea where Ji Yunzhi had gotten the strength earlier—not only had he pinned him to the ground and beaten him up, but he’d even dared to kick him right in the crotch. The pain had been so intense it nearly made him break out in a cold sweat.
Today, he was going to teach this reckless little bastard a lesson he’d never forget!
Su Yuyan shielded Ji Yunzhi behind him and sneered, “Well, today I’ve decided to meddle in this business. What are you gonna do about it?”
Mr. Li clenched his fists in rage, gritting his teeth. “Then you’re gonna suffer for it!”
With that, he threw a punch straight at Su Yuyan.
Su Yuyan caught the fist effortlessly, gripping Mr. Li’s hand and twisting it sharply. A pained scream erupted—
“Ah—! It hurts, it hurts! Let go, it’s broken, you—!”
Su Yuyan tossed the filthy hand aside, patting his own hands clean with a look of disgust.
Breaking bones was child’s play for someone like him.
The men behind Mr. Li could tell Su Yuyan wasn’t someone to mess with, and none of them dared to step forward for their boss.
Mo Xuchen strode over, glancing briefly at Su Yuyan, who smugly raised an eyebrow at him, before shifting his gaze to Ji Yunzhi behind him.
Ji Yunzhi’s originally fair cheeks now bore a bright red, swollen slap mark. Two buttons had been torn off his collar, and his eyes were rimmed red, looking utterly pitiful—like he’d been bullied to the brink.
Having just fought, Ji Yunzhi was now feeling the full effects of the alcohol. His head was spinning, and his body swayed unsteadily.
Losing his balance, he slumped forward against Su Yuyan’s back.
Afraid of falling, he instinctively wrapped his arms around Su Yuyan’s waist, mumbling softly,
“My head is so dizzy…”
That alcohol was awful—he had no idea why it was sold for such a high price.
Su Yuyan: “!!!”
Why was this guy suddenly hugging him?!
“Ah Chen, you saw that, right? I didn’t initiate this.”
“It was your wife who hugged me first.”
Bai Shuze sauntered over, watching Su Yuyan’s frantic attempt to distance himself, and couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
“Ah Chen, is this pretty little thing really your wife?”
Mo Xuchen: “…No.”
Su Yuyan quickly pried Ji Yunzhi’s hands off and shoved him toward Mo Xuchen’s arms.
“Go on, get into your husband’s embrace.”
Though Mo Xuchen had just denied Ji Yunzhi was his wife, his hands moved faster than his brain, reaching out to catch him securely in his arms.
Bai Shuze couldn’t take it anymore. He clicked his tongue and shook his head with his eyes closed.
If this wasn’t his wife, then what was it?
In all these years, he’d never seen Mo Xuchen hold anyone like this.
Most people couldn’t even get close to Mo Xuchen, let alone witness him cradling someone in his arms.
Ji Yunzhi blinked his dazed eyes open and stared at Mo Xuchen for a long moment. Once he recognized who it was, he grinned brightly.
He clung tightly to Mo Xuchen’s waist, nestling against his chest and murmuring softly,
“Husband…”
“I missed you so much…”
Mo Xuchen’s arms around him stiffened slightly.
Missed him?
Could he really believe those words from this little thing?
So many days had passed, yet Ji Yunzhi still remembered him.
Ji Yunzhi’s legs were too weak to stand, and he kept sliding down in Mo Xuchen’s arms. Mo Xuchen had no choice but to tighten his grip around his waist, holding him steady.
This waist… was so slender.
How could someone who ate so much still have such a slim waist?
Mo Xuchen’s Adam’s apple bobbed unconsciously. He glanced down at the frowning face nestled against his chest, then averted his gaze with an unreadable expression.
Bai Shuze slung an arm over Su Yuyan’s shoulder, watching Mo Xuchen and Ji Yunzhi with amusement.
They were clinging to each other like this, yet he’d just denied that this was his wife?
What a scoundrel. A real scoundrel.
Meanwhile, Mr. Li, still clutching his fractured arm, was about to call for backup.
Su Yuyan usually stayed at the hospital and rarely appeared in business circles, so few people recognized him.
But when Mr. Li caught sight of Mo Xuchen and Bai Shuze, his face instantly paled in terror.
The current heads of the Mo and Bai families—their influence and power in Haicheng were not to be underestimated.
He had no idea how Ji Yunzhi knew such powerful figures. Wasn’t he just some lowly bartender who sold drinks and entertained guests?
Mo Xuchen gently brushed his fingers over the bruise on Ji Yunzhi’s face, then slowly turned his gaze toward Mr. Li and the men behind him.
“You did this?”
The icy menace in his voice made Mr. Li stumble back two steps. He gulped nervously—whether he admitted it or not, it made no difference now.
Stammering, he replied, “M-Mr. Mo, I… I didn’t know he was… your person…”
“I… I got beaten up too! Look at my face!”
“And my body—he kicked and punched me just now!”
If the others hadn’t pulled Ji Yunzhi off him, he might’ve been stomped to death by that lunatic.
He’d only managed to slap Ji Yunzhi once when he wasn’t paying attention. After that, he’d been the one getting pummeled into the ground!
Today was just his damn unlucky day. He’d wanted to teach this brat a lesson, but instead, he was the one who got taught.
Mo Xuchen glanced down at the man in his arms and raised an eyebrow. At least he hadn’t let himself suffer too much.
But that mark on his face… it was an eyesore.
One of the men behind Mr. Li, seeing that no one was paying attention, quietly slipped away.
If Mo Xuchen remembered his face, his company might go bankrupt by tonight. He wasn’t about to invite trouble over something like this.
The others noticed someone had left and, fearing Mo Xuchen’s retaliation, quickly followed suit.
In an instant, Mr. Li was left standing alone. The five employees who worked here had already run off to call the manager, realizing the situation had escalated.
When the manager rushed over, he’d initially planned to scold Ji Yunzhi. But seeing him cradled in Mo Xuchen’s arms, he swallowed his words.
These were all high-profile customers—he couldn’t afford to offend any of them.
But between Mo Xuchen and Mr. Li, he’d rather not cross the most powerful man in Haicheng.
“Mr. Mo, Mr. Li… let’s all calm down and talk this through, alright?”
“No need for things to get ugly.”
