“Xiao Qian… Xiao Qian…”
In the darkness, a faint voice echoed from a distance. Su Liqian wanted to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt incredibly heavy.
“If I’d known how much pressure she was under, I wouldn’t have let her go…”
A woman’s voice came through with sobs. “It’s fine if she doesn’t go to that school anymore. I’ll take care of her from now on…”
“Let’s not talk about that now. Once Xiao Qian wakes up, we’ll respect her wishes this time. If she really doesn’t want to study anymore, we’ll let her come home…”
The voices at her side drifted in and out, both the man and woman sounding strangely familiar.
“Mm…”
A small sound in the room instantly drew their attention.
“Xiao Qian?”
The woman stopped crying and cautiously called out.
The moment her consciousness cleared, a blinding white light made it impossible to open her eyes fully. Su Liqian frowned and glanced around.
Where was this?
The room was mostly decorated in white and blue. It looked like a hospital, but not quite like the ones she remembered.
The bed had a sleek, modern design. A transparent panel floated in the air. Robots moved about the room… It all looked more like a scene from a sci-fi movie.
“Xiao Qian, does anything still hurt? Does your head still ache?”
The question seemed to trigger something. As soon as it was asked, Su Liqian felt a sharp pain in her head. Along with it came waves of unfamiliar memories.
Seeing her daughter silent and clutching her head in pain, Bai Yao’s heart ached. She immediately urged Su Mingyang to call the doctor.
Meanwhile, Su Liqian slowly came to understand her situation—she had transmigrated.
Yes, just like that. As unbelievable as it sounded.
She, Su Liqian, a video game designer from the 21st century, had crossed over into a completely unfamiliar interstellar era.
Before she had time to fully process the memories of this world’s “Su Liqian,” Su Mingyang returned with a man who looked like a doctor.
The man scanned her with a device and said, “She’s awake, so there’s nothing to worry about. Just make sure she rests and stays in a good mood over the next few days…”
He gave a few more instructions to her parents before quickly leaving. Hearing that their daughter was okay, the couple finally let out a sigh of relief.
“Mom…?”
Su Liqian felt a bit guilty under the woman’s tender gaze and cautiously called out.
Based on the original body’s memories, these two were her parents.
“Xiao Qian, are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?”
“I…”
Su Liqian was about to say she wasn’t hungry, but her stomach betrayed her with a growl. Embarrassed, she chuckled and said, “I guess I am hungry.”
“I’ll go get you something to eat.”
Before Bai Yao could respond, Su Mingyang eagerly took on the task.
“Xiao Qian…”
Once the room was quiet, with only the two of them left, Bai Yao hesitated as she looked at her daughter lying on the hospital bed. Reaching out, she gently touched her pale face and finally spoke.
“You don’t have to take the high school entrance exam anymore. Just stay home and rest these next few days. Stop worrying about everything…”
“Your dad and I can still take care of you…”
She continued speaking on her own, but Su Liqian’s silence only made her feel more and more guilty.
It wasn’t that Su Liqian didn’t want to reply—she was still trying to sort through the information in her mind. Honestly, she had no idea what Bai Yao was talking about.
This world was nothing like she’d imagined. After millions of years of development, not only had technology advanced rapidly, but humans themselves had evolved. They now possessed something called “spiritual strength.”
A thousand years ago, humanity had moved to what was now called the “Leis Star System” On one of its planets, they discovered a new energy source—crystal stones.
After another hundred years of research, it was found that these stones could be crafted into crystal cards. When paired with a person’s spiritual strength, they could produce incredible abilities. Over generations of study and refinement, the crystal card system became the defining feature of the interstellar era, now known as the “Crystal Card Era.”
Once a person reached a certain age, their spiritual strength would be tested. At school, they would learn how to use crystal cards. Those with exceptional combat or dream-casting talents would be admitted to top academies, compete in interstellar tournaments, and gain fame and admiration from millions. In short, crystal cards were everywhere in this era.
The original Su Liqian was just a very average native of “Katya Star.” Her parents were both regular office workers. Their family wasn’t rich, but they lived decently.
Compared to the Blue Star she once lived on, this world had changed drastically, though some things—like the education system with middle school, high school, and college—remained familiar.
The original Su Liqian had just graduated from middle school and, while taking the entrance exam for Beili High School the day before yesterday, her spiritual strength suddenly went out of control, leading to her being sent to the hospital.
Based on what she’d learned so far, the hospital had concluded that the incident was caused by stress. Being under constant pressure had triggered a spiritual strength breakdown.
But Su Liqian had noticed a small detail in the memories—one that stood out.
A few days before the exam, the original Su Liqian had been holding a small bottle-like object. She only took it out of her backpack just before the exam and drank it hesitantly.
It was something she had obtained by chance. Rumor had it that it could enhance spiritual strength.
But Su Liqian had her doubts.
If such a simple “drink” could truly enhance one’s spiritual strength, wouldn’t it have already been widely spread? Even if it existed, it wouldn’t be available to an ordinary student like her.
It was likely that “Su Liqian” knew the risks but was desperate. She cared too much about getting into that school. Her spiritual strength barely reached the B-level, and even using cards was somewhat difficult for her. So, she adopted a “hoping for the best” mentality, thinking nothing serious would happen.
But, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
During the exam, the original Su Liqian suddenly lost control of her spiritual strength. Fortunately, a nearby teacher reacted in time and sent her to the hospital, or who knows how serious things could have gotten.
However, judging by her own experience, the original Su Liqian likely lost her life during that spiritual outburst. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have ended up here.
“Hoo…”
After organizing the information in her mind, Su Liqian came back to herself and gave a small smile to her “mother,” Bai Yao.
“…Mom, don’t worry. I’m fine now.”
“I’m not someone who gives up so easily. Even though I didn’t pass this exam, there’ll be more chances.”
Bai Yao looked at her sensible daughter and stayed silent for a while. Many emotions flickered in her eyes, but in the end, her expression settled.
“…Alright, we’ll do as you say.”
…
After finishing lunch at the hospital, Su Liqian insisted on being discharged. Her parents had no choice but to give in. After quickly handling the discharge paperwork, they brought her home.
The three of them lived in a small house in the Sixth Star District. Although it was a bit far from the central plaza, it wasn’t remote. There were all kinds of shops nearby, and the area was lively with people coming and going.
Everything around her felt fresh and unfamiliar to Su Liqian. Even after returning to her room, she kept looking around with curiosity.
Following the memory in her head, Su Liqian lightly tapped the inside of her left wrist. A pale blue transparent ring appeared instantly. With a swipe through the air, a floating screen the size of a computer monitor appeared over the desk.
She fumbled a bit, then managed to open a webpage and searched for information about “items that can boost spiritual strength.” But the Star Net had no useful results.
That wasn’t surprising though. Anything that might be considered “forbidden” wouldn’t be openly listed for the public to see.
Su Liqian wasn’t too bothered and continued browsing to learn more about this world.
The screen projected from her wristband was a portable terminal. Unlike old computers or phones, it didn’t require typing. She could control it with voice commands or spiritual strength.
Memories flashed through her mind in fragments. Many concepts were still unclear, so she simply sat down and searched every unfamiliar term one by one.
The sheer amount of information made her already dizzy head feel overloaded. But at least she finally got a rough understanding of the “Crystal Cards” in this world.
In this world, crystal cards were an essential part of daily life for interstellar citizens.
Su Liqian noticed a green rectangular card on her desk. She picked it up and examined it closely.
A green cross was printed on the card, and the back had a simple pattern. The whole card gave off a faint green glow, and when held, it felt slightly cool to the touch.
According to the information she had just seen, cards were categorized by their colors. Green ones were function cards. There were also golden summoning cards, red weapon cards, blue illusion equipment cards, purple scene cards, and transparent cards.
Moreover, aside from most function cards and transparent cards, the other types of cards belonged to the Illusion World card sets.
Seeing all of this made Su Liqian feel overwhelmed, like she had entered an entirely new game world where everything had to be relearned from scratch.
She could only sigh softly, rub her forehead, and continue reading.
Luckily, the concept of the Illusion World Card Set wasn’t too hard to grasp. In fact, it reminded her a lot of her former job as a game designer.
Each “Illusion World” could be seen as a story or a game world—complete with its own system, unique characters, exciting plotlines, and special settings. As long as it formed a complete and coherent world, it could be called a “Illusion World.”
And the “Illusion World” created by Dream Caster could generate all sorts of cards. The residents of the galaxy could use these cards wisely to not only improve their daily lives but also participate in the “Interstellar Card Tournament” and become card masters.
Following the instructions she found online, Su Liqian focused her attention on the card in her hand. She felt a strange sensation, as if some kind of energy was being drawn from her and slowly flowing into the card.
As soon as her spiritual strength entered the card, the cross symbol on it scattered into glowing green particles that flew toward her. Her once-clouded mind instantly cleared up.
This was the first time Su Liqian personally felt the power of a card. For the first time, this “interstellar era” truly felt real.
And if this was just an ordinary F-level function card… what kind of power would an Illusion World Card Set have—the kind that could bring imagined worlds to life?
As a game designer, the thought of one day seeing her own creations come to life filled her with excitement and hope. That excitement instantly washed away her earlier anxiety about waking up in a strange world.
But that feeling only lasted a few seconds.
After all, being a Dream Caster was an extremely rare profession. And right now, Su Liqian couldn’t even pass a high school entrance exam, let alone aim for something that far ahead.
She took a deep breath. “Alright, the goal for now is… getting into high school!”
