Chapter 5
Once all the cats had made their entrances, the staff’s commentary ceased. Now, it was time for the cats to freely do as they pleased!
The cat paradise was about the size of a football field, with two gardens for sunbathing in the front and back. There was also a swimming pool downstairs, stocked with various cat treats and yogurt in the kitchen, and the fridge was filled with fresh fish and meat.
Currently, the cats were in the cat playground on the second floor, which had a massive cat climbing frame, swings, and small trains as part of the entertainment for the cats.
As soon as the staff left, the cats lazily found comfortable spots to lie down, clearly showing no intention of cooperating with the live broadcast.
And they all exhibited the typical lazy nature of cats.
If they could lie down, they wouldn’t sit up, if they could sit, they wouldn’t stand.
The round Forest Cat had already curled up on a flower-shaped soft cushion, half-closed his eyes, and began to purr as sunlight streamed in through the window.
The aloof Maine Coon was more aloof and territorial. He didn’t seem to enjoy being in the same space with so many other cats. He got up, walked to the outdoor garden, and jumped onto a soft sofa to sit.
The Siamese Cat immediately went to the little short-legged Golden Shaded British Shorthair, who had been watching her closely. As soon as she approached, the Golden Shaded cat jumped up in alarm and scurried downstairs, waddling on her short legs.
Siamese Cat: “???”
The Siamese Cat paused for a second, then narrowed her eyes and quickly chased after her.
Bai Chengcheng was stunned and instinctively stood up, thinking to himself, “Will those two cats fight?”
That little short-legged cat clearly wasn’t a match for the Siamese Cat.
He had just taken two steps when Lion Cat’s tail hooked around him, lazily pulling him back. Lion Cat walked over, lowered his head, affectionately rubbed Bai Chengcheng’s head, and then began heading toward the stairs. After a couple of steps, he used his tail to hook Bai Chengcheng again.
It was a signal for him to catch up.
Bai Chengcheng hesitated for a moment, glancing at Forest Cat. Then, thinking about the delicious food downstairs, he excitedly meowed and followed Lion Cat downstairs.
The Chinchilla, who had been licking its fur, immediately stood up and followed Bai Chengcheng downstairs.
Downstairs, there was an open and spacious kitchen.
There was a snack rack full of treats for the cats.
It was lunchtime, and Bai Chengcheng stood under the snack rack, stretching his paws to reach the treats. Unfortunately, he was too short to reach them no matter how hard he tried.
Lion Cat gave him a somewhat indulgent glance, wondering to himself if this soft, white cotton ball would be small in human form too. Would he also be unable to reach things when he wanted them?
Lion Cat slowly walked over, pressed a button on the rack, and then looked at Bai Chengcheng, a smile in his golden eyes.
Bai Chengcheng: “……”
Well, this really had nothing to do with intelligence—after all, he had never seen a snack rack like this before, so he couldn’t compare to these native cats.
And even if it was embarrassing, who cared? Losing face in front of cats? That couldn’t be considered losing face, right?
That was called friendly communication and self-presentation!
He entered the number for the snack he wanted on the keypad, and soon a robot from the snack rack brought out the treats, opened the packaging, and placed dried fish and yogurt pops into a paw-shaped bowl, handing it to Bai Chengcheng.
Bai Chengcheng excitedly jumped up, immediately grabbed the bowl, and shot a “come with me” look at the Chinchilla. The two very similar cats walked shoulder to shoulder toward the dining room.
Lion Cat’s expression of indulgence froze: “……”
So, he’s just a tool cat?
Lion Cat stood there for a moment, staring at the two cats sitting contentedly at the dining table. After thinking for a bit, he turned around and went to the fridge to fetch a piece of fresh beef, which he had the robot butler bring to the table.
The beef looked incredibly fresh and tender, appearing sweet and juicy, but it was at least twice the size of the snack bowl in front of Bai Chengcheng.
Bai Chengcheng couldn’t help but drool at the sight of the tender beef, while Chinchilla shot a meaningful glance at Lion Cat.
Both Bai Chengcheng and Chinchilla were perched on the table, while the tall Lion Cat sat next to Bai Chengcheng on a chair.
He had deliberately not asked the robot butler to cut the beef.
After observing earlier, he deduced that Bai Chengcheng probably didn’t come from a wealthy family—he didn’t seem familiar with operating these advanced butler systems.
So, he brought the beef over. If Bai Chengcheng wanted to eat it, he’d have to ask for his help.
At this moment, the robot butler delivered a bowl of steaming, fragrant cheese made from sterilized egg yolks and goat milk. The moment Bai Chengcheng caught the scent, his eyes went wide.
The dried fish in his bowl suddenly lost its appeal. He glanced at the beef, then at the delicious cheese, and within a second, he immediately turned toward Lion Cat, giving him a soft “Meow~.”
He wanted to eat!
Lion Cat’s eyes gleamed with amusement as he ignored the disdainful look from Chinchilla. He lifted his sharp front paw and gently sliced through the beef, cutting it into thin strips.
The beef was now neatly cut into fine, long pieces. Lion Cat pushed the plate toward Bai Chengcheng, looking at him with affection: “Go ahead, eat up.”
Bai Chengcheng immediately lowered his head and started sucking up the meat strips.
At the same time, Lion Cat was busy cutting the cheese into small pieces, perfect for his cotton-soft mouth to eat in one bite.
The beef tasted so good that Bai Chengcheng swore he’d never eaten anything as fresh and sweet as this when he was human!
Indeed, being a pet was better than being a person!
The live audience watching the broadcast couldn’t hold back any longer:
【I declare that Cotton Ball is now Lion Cat’s wife!】
【Look at the Chinchilla’s look of disdain, haha, so funny.】
【I have to say, Lion Cat really knows how to do it. The Forest Cat is still snoring in the background while his wife is practically taken, and he’s just sleeping!】
【But Cotton Ball seems to act like this with everyone—so sweet and obedient, and always wanting to cuddle. Lion Cat might just be [1]“one of the fish in his pond” is a metaphor, often used to describe someone who is one of many people a person is interested in or involved with, especially in a romantic or flirtatious.one of the fish in his pond.】
【Hmm… even though he’s a bit of a player, I can’t bring myself to hate him. Actually, I kinda wanna be one of his fish…】
【Can’t help it, Cotton Ball is too cute! After all, he has golden fox blood, which makes him naturally attractive to beastmen! That’s his advantage.】
—
As Bai Chengcheng was happily eating, the Forest Cat, who had been napping on the climbing frame, was finally woken up by his stomach growling.
He blinked in confusion for a few seconds before noticing his surroundings. It quickly dawned on him that he wasn’t at home, but rather at the live broadcast site of the cat dating show. And just a moment ago, he had met a very cute and compatible brother, but now… that cat was nowhere to be found!
“Meow?”
The Forest Cat’s ears twitched, and he looked around. All he saw was a cute puppet cat napping on the climbing frame, while the other cats were nowhere to be found.
Damn it, where was his good brother?!
The Forest Cat’s round, chubby body squirmed inside the space capsule for a few moments before he finally crawled out. He lazily climbed down the cat tree, inch by inch, and once his feet hit the ground, the fat on his body shook several times.
Live Chat: 【Bro, you’re finally awake! Your wife is gone! Screaming jpg.】
【Hurry up and find your wife! He’s about to lose himself to the fresh beef!】
The Forest Cat sniffed the air and caught the delicious scent of fresh beef!
His eyes lit up. He immediately moved his sturdy legs and raced down the cat tree to the first floor.
Bai Chengcheng heard the noise and, just as he was lifting his head, saw a giant, fat cat charging toward him.
Bai Chengcheng: “!!!”
“Meow!”
He was so startled that he took two steps back. Then, with a “thud,” the Forest Cat leaped onto the table, and with his round head, he immediately buried it in the plate. After a few satisfied purrs, the entire plate of beef was gone.
Bai Chengcheng: “……”
Chinchilla: “……”
Lion Cat: “???”
After finishing the beef, the Forest Cat casually sucked down the diced cheese that was nearby.
The other cats: “……”
Live Chat Viewers: “……”
【No wonder he doesn’t have a wife!】
【He’s stealing his wife’s food—what kind of man are you? Pointing fingers jpg.】
—
Lion Cat was shocked. These were all the foods he had prepared for Cotton Ball!
And Forest Cat just swallowed it all in one go?
Lion Cat was furious. He immediately pounced forward and swiped a paw at the Forest Cat’s head.
“Yowl!”
The Forest Cat wasn’t as quick as Lion Cat, and the force of the blow left him dazed.
Soon, he regained his senses, and his fur bristled with anger. He only took a bite of his good brother’s meat, and the brother didn’t even say anything—yet this Lion Cat was sticking his nose into everything!
Damn it!
The Forest Cat wasn’t about to back down. He charged toward Lion Cat.
Chinchilla immediately jumped off the table, afraid of getting caught in the mess.
Bai Chengcheng moved even faster, now standing on the kitchen marble countertop, watching the two large cats rolling into a heap from afar, giving a soft “Meow Meow.”
Hey, stop fighting, stop fighting!
Bai Chengcheng licked his lips and sighed. “I’m still not full…”
Of course, the two cats couldn’t really fight, especially since it was still a live broadcast.
Moreover, if they were to actually fight, the Forest Cat wouldn’t stand a chance against the Lion Cat—after all, the Lion Cat had been professionally trained.
But both cats were angry and frustrated, and because of the program’s rules, they couldn’t talk.
So, they could only use their paws.
They didn’t show their sharp claws but instead swiped at each other with their fluffy, soft paw pads. One would swat a gentle paw, and the other would respond with a soft thump.
They rolled and swatted, with the occasional angry “Yowl!” from the Forest Cat.
The other cats, startled by the noise, came out to watch, including the aloof Maine Coon.
Everyone assumed that, as another giant cat, the Maine Coon would step in to break up the fight.
Live Chat: 【The Maine Coon’s here! Hurry up and break it up!】
【As expected from a cat dating reality show, it’s only day one, and they’re already fighting! This is going to get even more exciting later!】
【The golden fox cat really is a troublemaker, a real troublemaker!】
—
However, the cold and aloof Maine Coon clearly had no intention of breaking up the fight. After watching the two cats roll and fight for a while, he lazily lay down by the balcony again.
The viewers: “……”
The cats might have calmly watched the fight, but the staff members of the show were getting uneasy.
The staff quickly released a new dating task.
“Ding Dong.” All the cats stopped moving and turned to look at the source of the sound—the giant screen in the living room.
The screen displayed a projection of the staff member: “Welcome to the Cat Love Reality Show, I’m your host, Xiao Ai.”
“I’m sure after spending some time together, you’ve all gotten to know each other a bit. So in order to help you all get even closer, we’ve prepared a task for you.”
“The top three winners of the task will earn the right to view a specified cat’s identity card. Each cat has three identity cards.”
There were eight cats in total, but only three could view the identity cards.
For example, if the Lion Cat placed in the top three, he could request to see Bai Chengcheng’s identity card.
This was one of the most important parts of the Beast Dating Reality Show.
While it was like a blind box, it wasn’t completely blind. At the very least, the staff would provide hints about the identity cards.
As soon as the Siamese Cat and Lion Cat heard this, they immediately stood up and, with intent but subtle glances, looked in the direction of the cats they were interested in.
The Forest Cat also shifted his eyes. He couldn’t help but glance at Bai Chengcheng.
To be honest, he was really curious about what kind of person this good brother of his actually was!
