Look at what she found!
Eggs! Huge eggs, hidden under the grass at the base of the wall. Wouldn’t it be a shame if she missed them?
Ji He quickly stepped forward, picked up the egg in one swift motion, and instantly stored it in her space. She felt rejuvenated all over again.
Was there anything more satisfying than finding free eggs?
She thought not.
Ji He crouched down and swiftly searched through the grass, meticulously checking every spot. Her practiced movements were almost heartbreaking to watch. Before long, she uncovered a second egg.
This motivated her even more. She diligently searched through all the nearby grass patches, but luck wasn’t as good as at the start. The other patches had a lower yield—she only found three more eggs in total.
Even so, Ji He was quite satisfied. She had found five gigantic eggs today—just one of them was enough to fill her up!
With five minutes remaining, Ji He didn’t waste time. She grabbed a stool, sat down by the water pool, and started collecting water.
Even if she didn’t drink it, she could use it to wash vegetables and clothes.
For five quiet minutes, she steadily collected water. Finally, the countdown reached zero.
A familiar electronic voice rang in her ears:
[Dear temporary player, congratulations on surviving and clearing the one-star dungeon: The Farm is Busy!]
[Dungeon settlement will be completed in 15 minutes. During this time, you are free to move around. You can choose to leave the dungeon immediately or stay and explore. In 15 minutes, you will be forcibly teleported out.]
After saying this, the system fell silent.
Ji He stood up and quickly walked toward the main gate.
She didn’t choose to leave immediately—she wanted to explore the dungeon a bit more. Since the system provided 15 minutes of safe time, there had to be a reason for it. She couldn’t waste this opportunity.
Moreover, something about what the system had said caught her attention: “temporary player” and “surviving to clear the dungeon.”
Did that mean there were official players too? What were they like?
And what did “surviving to clear” mean? Did that imply people could die in this game?
But the first stage was clearly simple. If she hadn’t wanted to clear it, from what the system suggested, she could have just waited out the time instead of killing the chicken. The only thing she didn’t know was the consequence of getting fired.
Would she be safely sent back to Planet M, or… would she die?
Ji He had many thoughts racing through her mind, but her movements didn’t slow down one bit. She quickly reached the door and gave it a gentle push—the door opened effortlessly.
Just moments ago, the door had been sealed shut, no matter how hard she had tried to move it.
Ji He stepped out of the chicken coop. Outside, several people were already moving around. Their faces were pixelated, making it impossible to see their features—only their gender was distinguishable.
Some of them still had bloodstains on their bodies, looking rather battered.
Everyone instinctively kept a safe distance from one another, avoiding unnecessary interactions.
These people were probably the ones who had also cleared the dungeon. It seemed like there were quite a few of them.
Ji He silently observed. Most of the people here were muscular men, though there were some women too. However, they weren’t delicate—they were the strong, athletic type. Compared to them, Ji He’s thin frame made her stand out as an anomaly.
While she was observing others, they were also observing her. Many people glanced at her with surprise at her small stature, but that was the extent of their reactions. The pixelation over their faces prevented any deeper interaction.
After leaving the chicken coop area, everyone naturally split up, heading off in different directions to explore.
Ji He had already made her plan. As she explored, she deliberately chose secluded corners. However, the farm was massive—so big that she couldn’t see the end of it. It was filled with nothing but machines. There wasn’t a single person around.
She tried talking to one of the robots, but it completely ignored her and continued working. With no other choice, she could only search the farm on her own.
Time ticked by. Worried about running out of time, Ji He broke into a light jog. She had searched through countless places but still hadn’t found what she was looking for.
Just as she was beginning to doubt whether she would leave empty-handed, a messy-looking mechanical workshop came into view.
At first glance, she had a strong feeling—this was the place she had been searching for.
Excited, Ji He sped up and rushed to the door. She pushed against it with all her strength, but it didn’t budge.
She pushed even harder, but the door remained completely still. Panic crept into her heart.
No way. Could she really not get inside?
As the seconds passed, Ji He forced herself to stay calm. There had to be a way!
She left the front entrance and decided to check the back.
While walking along the side, she carefully observed the building. There were no windows—climbing through one was out of the question.
When she reached the back, her eyes lit up. What luck!
The back door was wide open, leaving a gap over two meters wide. A filthy robot was inside, using a built-in shovel to clear out garbage from the room, dumping it into a nearby waste transport truck.
Ji He glanced at the pile in the robot’s shovel—it was full of animal organs.
At first, she didn’t recognize them since they were much larger than those of animals from Planet M. But after taking a closer look, she realized—it was sheep offal!
So, this farm also raised sheep?
That wasn’t her concern right now, though. What mattered was collecting as much scrap as possible!
She had to act fast!
To avoid provoking the robot, Ji He didn’t immediately rush inside. Instead, she moved toward the garbage truck first.
The robot ignored her completely.
Encouraged, she peered inside. The entire room was piled with discarded animal organs, bones, and fur.
It seemed that, to this farm, anything that wasn’t meat was considered trash.
Ji He carefully reached out and tried storing a piece of tripe in her space.
The robot didn’t react.
She grew bolder and continued storing more.
The robot remained indifferent, silently shoveling trash into the truck.
Ji He’s confidence grew. She was much faster at collecting than the robot was at shoveling. In no time, she emptied the entire garbage truck.
She didn’t even know how much of it was edible—she would have to check later.
With the truck emptied, Ji He set her sights on the garbage room itself.
She cautiously took a step inside.
This time, the robot reacted.
It immediately stopped moving.
Its head swiveled toward her, and a red scanning light shot from its eyes, sweeping up and down her body.
Ji He’s heart pounded.
Her breathing quickened. A thin layer of sweat formed on her forehead.
She froze in place, not daring to move an inch.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the massive steel shovel in the robot’s hands.
If that thing swung at her, she might as well say goodbye to life itself.
At that moment, regret surged through her.
Maybe she shouldn’t have taken the risk.
Maybe just collecting from the garbage truck would have been safer.
Sure, it was slower and less rewarding, but at least it wasn’t life-threatening.
But in the very next second, she shook off the doubt.
Even if she were given another chance, she would still choose to step into this room.
