They took advantage of the fireworks to play many of the empty projects.
The kitten was having a blast. When he got off the drop tower, his hair was almost standing on end. He tugged at Lu Huai’s sleeve, his eyes wide, “Brother, let’s ride the drop tower again! I want to ride it.”
Lu Huai quickly covered the kitten’s mouth, “Enough playing, enough playing.”
The kitten blinked and suddenly stuck out his tongue to lick Lu Huai’s palm.
The wet sensation made Lu Huai freeze.
He quickly retracted his hand, looking at Niannian in surprise, his speech slightly stammering, “You, what are you doing!!”
Niannian innocently said, “What’s wrong? I always licked brother before.”
Fortunately, everyone around was busy, no one noticed them. Lu Huai choked for a long time, barely managing to say, “You can’t do that outside, and you can’t just lick.”
Niannian pouted, a little unhappy, “Why is being a human so bad? Can’t kiss, can’t lick.”
“Okay, okay.” Lu Huai coaxed him, “Let’s ride the drop tower one more time.”
They finally took the last subway home.
Because their place was remote, they had to walk a distance after getting off the subway. The kitten was tired from playing today and had no energy. Lu Huai simply half-squatted down, letting the kitten climb onto his back, carrying him home.
Niannian’s head rested on Lu Huai’s shoulder. He must have fallen asleep, his breathing heavy, spraying on Lu Huai’s neck, causing a slight itch.
Lu Huai’s steps were steady, but his mind was a little muddled.
It was his first time at an amusement park, but he wasn’t interested in those thrilling rides. Now, looking back, all he could remember was Niannian leaning in to kiss his cheek, and licking his palm…
And the fireworks exploding, Niannian’s round, bright black eyes.
He once wanted Niannian to always be his cat.
But now.
He seemed to greedily want more.
The next morning, Lu Huai told Niannian that he would be back late for the next two days.
The little pig was still asleep, his entire head buried in the blanket. Lu Huai dug him out.
“I might not have time to cook for you.”
Lu Huai looked at Niannian’s rosy cheeks, resisting the urge to bite them. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he looked away, “There’s money in the drawer, go eat outside.”
Niannian didn’t even open his eyes, raising his hand to be held, “But I want to go with brother too.”
“No.” Lu Huai refused without hesitation, “Be good and wait for brother at home.”
He didn’t know why the director suddenly extended an olive branch.
But Lu Huai had to firmly grasp it.
After school, Lu Huai packed his bag and called the kitten, only feeling relieved after hearing that the kitten had already eaten.
Then, unbeknownst to Lu Huai, as he boarded the bus, an electric scooter followed closely behind.
Xu Mingbai looked excited, “Did you take this job yourself? How much is it!!”
Niannian pursed his lips and reached out from behind to hit Xu Mingbai on the head, “Don’t talk!”
Detective Kitten didn’t want brother to leave him at home, wanting to secretly follow. Unfortunately, his well-laid plan was thwarted by a traffic police officer at a turn.
“No helmet! Fifty yuan fine!”
The electric scooter stopped to the side. The traffic police officer sternly stared at the two of them. The kitten hung his head, twisting his fingers, hesitated, and then looked up pitifully, his two hands clasped together, bowing to the traffic police officer, “Please, we’re very poor.”
“…”
The traffic police officer’s voice softened involuntarily towards Niannian, “But you can’t not wear a helmet, it’s very dangerous. Forget it, since it’s your first time, take a picture and post it on your Moments, and once you get ten likes, you can go.”
Niannian whispered, “But I only have two friends on WeChat.”
The traffic police officer choked, turning to look at Xu Mingbai, “You, get twenty likes!”
The two stood side by side, the traffic police officer taking a picture of them. The kitten was quite photogenic, smiling as soon as the light flashed, showing a row of neat white teeth.
The traffic police officer was speechless, “Your expression should be more solemn, showing that you’re reflecting. You’re smiling so happily, people who don’t know would think I’m giving you an award.”
The kitten agreed aggrievedly.
Another picture was taken. This time, the kitten hung his head, with two tufts of hair sticking up on his head, looking pitiful.
The traffic police officer handed them his phone, “Alright, post it on your Moments.”
The kitten squatted on the ground holding his phone. Xu Mingbai leaned over to take a look, his face turning pale, “You only have two friends and you blocked one, why don’t you just set it to ‘visible to me only’?”
The kitten glared fiercely at him, “Don’t look at me, hurry up and get the likes.”
Xu Mingbai mumbled, “Why should I get the likes? I’m a great detective, I still have some face.”
The kitten snorted heavily.
He didn’t dare let Lu Huai know. If he knew he had secretly followed, he would spank his butt again.
Xu Mingbai diligently collected likes, the kitten thought for a moment, slowly approaching the traffic police officer, “Wow, uncle, your uniform looks really good.”
The kitten sat on a nearby stone, behaving well, “My family are all police officers.”
The traffic police officer was startled, inexplicably feeling a sense of respect, “A police family?”
The kitten nodded, straightening his back, “I’m going to be a police officer too, just like you, uncle.”
The traffic police officer was flattered. Seeing the boy’s fair face was slightly sunburnt, he quickly said, “Come, sit here.”
Under the scorching sun, Xu Mingbai was sweating profusely, begging for likes in his WeChat list, but eight out of ten people asked who the boy next to him was and if they could get his WeChat.
He almost threw his phone in anger.
Looking up again, wow, the little ancestor was sitting on a small stool brought by the traffic police officer, hiding under a sunshade, somehow getting a bottle of soda, drinking comfortably.
Xu Mingbai, “…”
After the bus stopped, they walked a distance. The dense buildings gradually decreased, and this was already a villa area.
Following the address given by the director, Lu Huai stopped in front of a two-story villa and pressed the doorbell.
A middle-aged woman opened the door. Before Lu Huai could speak, she smiled, “You’re here to tutor the young master, right? Come in.”
Lu Huai thanked her and changed his shoes. As soon as he entered the living room, a ball came flying at him. Lu Huai remained calm, slightly leaning aside, the ball brushing his face.
An eight or nine-year-old boy ran down, angrily saying, “I don’t want tutoring, Auntie Wu, get him to leave.”
Auntie Wu looked embarrassed.
“Zhou Ting, if you don’t behave, I’ll break your game console.”
The moment he heard this voice, the previously arrogant boy’s expression changed, and he snorted without speaking.
Lu Huai’s face instantly darkened.
He stared at the person coming down the stairs, frowning, “Zhou Le, what are you doing here?”
“It’s really you.” Zhou Le smiled, “This is my house, that’s my younger brother.”
Lu Huai pursed his lips, silent for a few seconds before speaking, “Excuse me.”
He turned to leave, Zhou Le quickly took a few steps, “Why? Lu Huai, I want to help you.”
“Director Zhou is my uncle, and we only moved here two years ago.” Zhou Le paused, “The thing you want to ask him for, I can just tell him.”
Lu Huai’s desperate plea was just a matter of Zhou Le’s words.
Seeing Lu Huai stop, the smile on Zhou Le’s face deepened, “My brother is like a little tyrant, no one can control him. You’re so good at studying, I want to ask you to tutor him, as a quid pro quo, so you don’t have to feel guilty.”
Lu Huai looked directly at Zhou Le.
“Is that all? What else do you want?”

When Lu Huai returned, the kitten was sitting on the sofa by himself, not watching TV, not playing with his phone, and didn’t run over to hug him when he heard the door, as if he was sulking.
Lu Huai found it funny. After Niannian became human, he rarely got angry. When he was a cat, he often did, turning his body away and deliberately turning his butt towards him when he was annoyed.
Fortunately, he was very skilled at coaxing cats.
After putting down his bag, he sincerely apologized, “Brother came back late, brother apologizes to you, I really shouldn’t have left Niannian at home alone.”
As he spoke, he calmly hugged the kitten, observing his expression, which had already softened a little.
Niannian’s tone was aggrieved, “You left me at home alone, do you know how big this house is? Do you know how lonely and cold I was?”
“…”
How big? Less than sixty square meters.
The kitten clutched Lu Huai’s collar, fiercely baring his teeth, “Say, did you go out and have fun?”
Wow, he learned quickly.
Lu Huai pinched the kitten’s face, “Don’t act cute, honestly confess, where did you see all this nonsense?”
The kitten nervously looked away, “No, no.”
Lu Huai hugged him with one arm, reaching for his phone with the other. The kitten panicked and struggled to grab it, but Lu Huai deliberately raised his hand, watching the kitten anxiously with interest.
I don’t know which button his hand touched, but a voice came from the phone, “[Welcome to listen to CEO Husband Don’t Spoil Me Too Much Chapter 32, a torrential rain poured down, but Gu Ting hadn’t returned, because his white moonlight had returned to the country…]”
The kitten had figured out how to use this part of the phone, he couldn’t read all the words, so he listened to audiobooks.
It turned out he thought the kitten was sulking, but he was sitting upright listening to a novel.
