Cats can also be wives
Cats can also be wives Chapter 9

Hearing about studying, the little cat immediately wilted.

That evening, Lu Huai received a friend request.

The name was Nian Police Officer.

The identity was easy to guess.

Lu Huai found it funny, accepting the request while knocking on the bathroom door.

“Come out and play on your phone.”

Soon, the little cat came out sheepishly with his phone, smiling ingratiatingly at his brother.

As soon as Lu Huai saw him like this, he felt an itch. He directly hugged him and sat him down, taking his phone. “Brother will choose an avatar for you.”

After some arguing, they finally settled on a photo Lu Huai had taken of Niannian sleeping. The little cat was sleeping on his back, his pink tongue slightly sticking out, incredibly cute.

Niannian endured for a long time, whispering, “Can we only use the upper body?”

Lu Huai was stunned, subconsciously glancing at it, then freezing. He hadn’t noticed before; this pose showed the little cat’s genitals.

He suddenly felt the phone was burning hot, quickly handing it back to the little cat. “Then you choose.”

Niannian took it blankly, flipping through it front and back, before realizing that Lu Huai’s photo album was almost all of him.

There was a photo from when he was first brought home, so thin, Lu Huai holding him in his hand, only about the size of a palm.

There was also a photo of Lu Huai carrying him in his backpack, the zipper halfway up, his little head poking out.

The first time Lu Huai took him to the market, he was squatting at the fishmonger’s stall, looking longingly at the fish.

Niannian hugged Lu Huai’s phone, smiling happily. “Brother, you have so many photos of me.”

“Mm,” Lu Huai whispered. “You’re cute.”

But Niannian suddenly realized that these photos were all from when he was a kitten. After he became human, Lu Huai hadn’t taken a single photo of him.

The little cat’s mood plummeted unexpectedly.

He finally chose a random photo and gave the phone back to Lu Huai, but after hesitating, he still whispered, “Why did you bring me back that day?”

Lu Huai deliberately teased the little cat. “You forgot? I didn’t bring you back; you insisted on following me back.”

The little cat suddenly raised his head, his eyes slightly red, urgently saying, “No, you hugged me later, and put me in your arms. You really hugged me.”

Lu Huai was stunned, quickly coaxing him. “Why are you about to cry? Yes, yes, yes, I was wrong. I brought you back. When I saw you, this little cat was so cute, obviously my cat.”

The little cat lowered his head, trying to hold back his tears, but finally couldn’t help but sniffle, repeating, “You brought me back.”

He didn’t know what had upset this little ancestor. He coaxed him until bedtime. When he lifted the blanket, the little cat couldn’t help himself, rolling into the bed, his little head against Lu Huai’s shoulder, his fluffy hair rubbing against his neck.

It was a little itchy, but Lu Huai didn’t dare move, afraid of upsetting the cat again.

A human with very low status in the family.

Because of the uncomfortable position, Lu Huai didn’t fall asleep until the middle of the night and was actually woken up by Niannian the next day.

Opening his eyes, he saw the little cat dressed neatly, looking at him expectantly. “Brother, you’re awake. Get up quickly, I’ll take you to school.”

Lu Huai slowly closed his eyes again.

Still dreaming.

After a few seconds, he opened his eyes again. This time, Niannian’s whole face was in front of him, seriously asking, “Brother, are your eyes uncomfortable?”

He was silent for two seconds before saying in a hoarse voice, “Why are you up so early?”

“To take you to school.”

“…”

Lu Huai got up and looked at the time; it was only five o’clock.

He wiped his face. “Okay, I’ll wash up first, then I’ll make you breakfast. What do you want to eat in the morning? Small wontons, okay?”

Because they left early, they met many elderly people walking their cats and dogs on the road.

He was different.

The little cat was walking him.

Sending Lu Huai to the school gate, the little cat patted his shoulder. “Study hard, don’t play with your phone.”

Lu Huai’s temples throbbed. “Don’t imitate my way of speaking.”

“Okay.”

Lu Huai took a deep breath. “Don’t wander around on your way back, don’t talk to strangers, and don’t eat anything they give you.”

He took out a hundred yuan from his pocket and stuffed it into Niannian’s pocket. “If you pass a supermarket, buy whatever you like.”

“Can you come pick me up after school too?”

Lu Huai sighed. “Come if you want.”

The little cat smiled, waving goodbye to Lu Huai, acting just like the other parents sending their children to school.

Only after he couldn’t see Lu Huai’s back did Niannian turn around and leave reluctantly.

On his way back, he went into that supermarket, walking around twice before painfully spending one yuan on two small red-skinned sausages.

Niannian didn’t go home; he went to see Qiuqiu next door.

Grandma Zhang lived on the first floor and had a small vegetable garden. When Niannian arrived, the teddy bear was digging in the soil with its butt in the air.

He smelled Niannian and trotted over. The human and dog chatted through the iron fence.

“I brought you something delicious.”

Niannian took out the sausage from his pocket, peeled it, and gave it to Qiuqiu.

Qiuqiu was quite happy at first, but after sniffing it, he wasn’t so happy. “This sausage isn’t delicious. I usually eat beef sausages. Niannian, you have money now, why are you still so stingy?”

The little cat was unjustly accused, angrily saying, “What do you know? This is the money my brother gave me, I can’t spend it carelessly. And this is originally a puppy sausage, it’s for dogs.”

He reached out and hammered the dog’s head twice through the fence.

Qiuqiu didn’t speak, lowering his head to eat.

The little cat hesitated. “Do you know where I can make money?”

Qiuqiu raised his head. “Oh, so you have something to ask me. Then you should have brought beef sausages.”

Niannian raised his hand again to hammer the dog’s head.

Qiuqiu quickly changed his words. “But it’s good to change your taste occasionally!”

“Why do you want to make money? Doesn’t your owner support you?”

Niannian propped his chin up. “Brother will of course support me, but I’m human now, and I can also go out to make money. And brother’s birthday is coming up, I want to save money to buy him a gift.”

This was something Chen Fei had casually mentioned the other day, and the little cat had firmly remembered it.

Qiuqiu painfully swallowed the unpalatable sausage, retching twice before saying, “You can work at a cat cafe.”

Niannian’s expression fell, his voice low. “But I’m not a cat anymore.”

“That’s true.” Qiuqiu thought for a moment, suddenly jumping up. “I know! You can work at a bar; a bar is a cat cafe at night.”

The little cat blankly said, “Ah?”

“Day cafe, night bar, understand?” Qiuqiu explained eloquently. “A daytime coffee shop is a nighttime bar, same thing.”

“Wow, Qiuqiu, you know so much,” Niannian exclaimed sincerely. “Dog brains are better than cat brains.”

Qiuqiu proudly wagged his tail. “I heard it from my sister. My sister is a resident singer at the Starfall Bar. You can mention my name when you go; she’ll definitely take care of you.”

Qiuqiu’s sister was Grandma Zhang’s daughter.

The little cat thanked him tearfully. “Thank you so much, Qiuqiu. I still have a puppy sausage here, for you.”

Qiuqiu retched again.

Having made up his mind, Niannian didn’t rush to go that day. He went home and searched online for a bunch of job application guides. Basically, although the cat wasn’t working, he had already mastered the workplace routine.

It wasn’t until Lu Huai came home from school. Pushing open the door, he didn’t see the little cat pouncing on him for a hug, and there was no sign of the cat in the living room. He subconsciously frowned and called out a few times before Niannian pushed open the bedroom door and came out.

“What are you doing?”

The little cat stammered, “I, I’m studying.”

Lu Huai didn’t think much of it, praising him. “So good. Why didn’t you come to pick me up?”

Niannian lowered his head guiltily. “I forgot.”

“It’s okay,” Lu Huai ruffled his hair. “You didn’t need to come pick me up anyway.”

It’s just that Lu Huai didn’t expect the little cat’s love for his phone to be so extreme.

He was playing with it while eating, almost poking his chopsticks into his nose several times. Later, Lu Huai couldn’t stand it anymore and went over to feed him, but as soon as he saw Lu Huai coming, the little cat quickly turned off his phone.

???

Lu Huai narrowed his eyes, seemingly casually asking, “What were you looking at?”

“No, nothing.”

The little cat had a secret so quickly.

Lu Huai felt a pang of jealousy, now somewhat understanding those parents who always liked to report their children. He felt the same way now; what had attracted his little cat’s attention? There were too many things on the internet; don’t let it corrupt the little cat.

The little cat was still holding his phone at night. Lu Huai couldn’t stand it anymore and said seriously, “You can’t play with your phone like this. Using it for more than five hours a day will damage it.”

The little cat was startled, subconsciously looking at Lu Huai.

Lu Huai raised his chin. “Isn’t the phone hot?”

It was indeed hot.

The little cat became anxious. This was a brand-new phone his brother had just bought him.

“What should I do?”

Lu Huai took the phone and put it on the table. “It’s a good thing it’s new, otherwise it would have broken. Let it cool down. Close your eyes and go to sleep.”

Niannian looked at the phone longingly. “Won’t it break?”

“Not for now.”

The next morning, Lu Huai was woken up by rustling sounds.

Opening his eyes, he saw the little cat sneaking towards the table, looking back at him every few steps. Unexpectedly, their eyes met, and the little cat froze.
