A weak meow reached Yu Ning’s ears, prompting her to follow the sound.
Behind a shrub, a barely alive black cat lay on the lawn.
“Oh, it’s you—how did you get hurt like this?” Yu Ning recognized the cat.
This little black cat had previously perched on the living room balcony and had been thrown out by the bodyguard.
How did it get so badly injured in such a short time?
“Could it be that the stray cat that scratched Yu Zihan was you?”
“Meow!” So what if it was! The black cat used its last bit of strength to turn its head proudly.
Then, fate intervened as Yu Ning picked up the cat by the scruff of its neck.
“Was Wu Yan the one who beat you like this? She always loved hitting people. When I was young, she hit me every day. Fortunately, I was tough and didn’t die.” Yu Ning took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the dirt off the little cat.
The cat struggled violently when her fingers touched its body.
“Could it be internal injuries?” Yu Ning frowned, holding the black cat up for a closer look.
“Let me see if there’s any need to save you—huh?”
After examining the cat for a while, Yu Ning brought her mouth close to the cat’s ear and whispered:
“You are not a stray cat.”
“Meow!!!”
“You are a pet cat!”
“???”
Yu Ning nodded with satisfaction, seeing the cat’s dazed expression.
She truly saw a stunned expression on a cat’s face.
“You got separated from your owner, didn’t you? Looking at your clumsy appearance, it’s clear you lack wild survival skills. You wouldn’t last a few days outside, but fortunately, you met me. I won’t let you die.”
Yu Ning felt that this little creature’s eyes were full of wisdom and that they were fated to meet.
She took off her coat, wrapped the black cat in it, and carried it back to her room.
Upon closer inspection, she found that the black cat was much more seriously injured than she had initially thought.
Wu Yan and her daughter had been too ruthless. The cat kept vomiting blood and remained unconscious after being brought back, soaking Yu Ning’s coat.
“Fortunately, my master left me with many treasures. The fifth-grade Purple Elixir with spiritual properties is hard to find outside, but I have a whole bottle. Half a pill for the cat and half for President Lin. When President Lin wakes up, I’ll have him reimburse me. Saving the cat earns President Lin merit, and I don’t lose out—it’s a win-win.”
Yu Ning rummaged through a box and took out a pill bottle, from which she extracted a small purple pill.
The pill was only the size of a fingernail, and Yu Ning feared the cat wouldn’t be able to handle such a potent effect, so she divided the pill into four parts.
She gave the cat one part, soaked another part in a washbasin for its bath, and didn’t waste the rest, putting them in the mouth of the comatose President Lin in the bed. Whether it healed an illness or served as a preventive measure, it wouldn’t harm him.
The cat, which had been barely breathing, gradually began to breathe steadily and curled up, trembling slightly, to sleep.
Yu Ning took out her phone and chose a delivery service to purchase some pet supplies, including a bed, food, and a litter box.
Pet supplies weren’t cheap; the whole set cost her several hundred yuan.
The delivery fee alone was 200 yuan!
Living halfway up the mountain, it wasn’t easy for the delivery guy to come.
Looking at the few hundred yuan balance left in her card, Yu Ning’s heart ached.
She was truly poor.
Raising this little cat made her already difficult financial situation even worse.
Thinking of the 5 million yuan dowry money that Wu Yan still owed her, Yu Ning opened WeChat and edited a debt collection message to send over.
“She actually blocked me.”
Yu Ning frowned. It seemed she would have to find an opportunity to go down the mountain to collect the debt and think of ways to earn some extra money.
After all, she now had a pet to care for.
Three hours later, the delivery guy arrived with the items, and Aunt Wu personally carried the items upstairs.
Accompanying her was Jia Qingqing.
“Miss Qingqing, the old lady instructed that you cannot go to the third floor,” Aunt Wu reminded.
“If that bumpkin—Yu Ning can live here, why can’t I at least come up to take a look? I have to see if she has done anything to Brother Lin!” Jia Qingqing looked at Aunt Wu with disdain.
When she married Brother Lin, the first thing she would do was to throw this old hag out.
“Before the young lady notices, you’d better go down quickly,” Aunt Wu said coldly.
She only recognized a few legitimate young masters of the Lin family; Jia Qingqing was nothing in her eyes.
“Do you think I’m afraid of her? She’s just an uncultured, brute bumpkin—” Jia Qingqing’s arrogant voice cut off.
Yu Ning was carrying a single bed, walking openly in the corridor.
At 1.68 meters tall, with a slim figure, she could actually lift a solid wood single bed with her bare hands!
How strong must she be!
Jia Qingqing was dumbfounded, and Aunt Wu was also shocked.
“Young lady! If you need to move the bed, call me. I’ll find someone to help you!”
“It’s fine. It’s not that heavy—my delivery has arrived. Could you please put it in my room?” Yu Ning carried the single bed into Lin Zheng’s room.
“You should go down quickly. Last time, the young lady controlled her strength when she kicked you. Otherwise…” Aunt Wu shook her head.
A solid wood bed weighing over 200 pounds was effortlessly lifted by her. If she wanted to deal with Jia Qingqing, she could easily beat her into disability.
“Could she be a weightlifter?” Jia Qingqing was somewhat apprehensive of Yu Ning’s natural strength.
But she had another purpose in coming up here, and she was unwilling to leave without achieving it.
So she thickened her face and followed Aunt Wu into the room.
“How can you sleep in the same room as Brother Lin!”
Jia Qingqing screamed like a chicken being slaughtered when she saw Yu Ning placing the single bed next to Lin Zheng’s bed, her jealousy distorting her face.
“It’s convenient for taking care of him.”
The great-grandmother had arranged a room for Yu Ning next door, but Yu Ning had tested it out and found the soundproofing of the house too good. If a spirit body came again, she wouldn’t hear the spirit bell from the next room.
President Lin’s bedroom was very large, and adding another bed was not a problem, so she moved her bed over.
“Have you no shame! A man and a woman alone in one room! Move the bed out!” Jia Qingqing stomped her foot in protest.
Yu Ning ignored her and took the bag from Aunt Wu, taking out the contents.
For the cat bed, she chose a yellow banana-shaped one, which cost her over a hundred yuan.
She placed the sleeping black cat in the cat bed, and the visual effect of the black cat against the yellow banana was striking.
Yu Ning nodded in satisfaction. The black and yellow contrast looked great.
“You’re keeping a stray cat in Brother Lin’s bedroom!!!” Jia Qingqing continued to scream.
“The litter box—got it!” Yu Ning took out a small litter box and filled it with cat litter, calculating the placement.
“The entrance is the wealth position, so the litter box can’t go there. Southwest and southeast conflict with the cat’s element, and the west belongs to metal, which overcomes wood. Hmm, let’s put it in the bathroom; the feng shui is good there.”
“Does raising a cat involve feng shui?” Aunt Wu asked curiously.
Young Master Lin disliked furry animals the most, and he would be very angry if he found a cat in his bedroom when he woke up.
But seeing Yu Ning speak so knowledgeably, she was curious.
“Yes, cats belong to the wood element. People born in the years of the tiger, horse, and dog are particularly suited to raise cats to enhance their fortune, especially those born in the year of the pig, raising a black cat is very auspicious.”
Aunt Wu suddenly understood.
“Young lady, are you born in the year of the pig?”
“No.”
“…?”
