Although a bit disappointed it wasn’t Ji Chengyi, Lin Jindu politely greeted, “Hello.”
Yao Tong paused for a moment, and as he recognized the person in front of him, a hint of disappointment flickered in his eyes. However, he quickly put on a polite smile, “Hello, hello! You must be the famous Lin Jindu, right? Oh, I’m so lucky to have picked you right away.”
Having watched the preview, Lin Jindu knew Yao Tong was a TV host with quick wit and emotional intelligence. So, he wasn’t surprised by Yao Tong’s compliments and calmly replied, “I’m sorry, I’ve already taken Mr. Shao’s seat.”
Yao Tong chuckled, “Oh, no way! I should thank you for taking his seat in advance. I didn’t want to sit with him anyway. He’s been nagging at me since morning, even as we left.”
Lin Jindu smiled, not engaging with what seemed like a complaint but was actually a display of affection.
Yao Tong, being a TV host, never let the conversation falter. He also sensed that Lin Jindu wasn’t much for small talk, so he didn’t push to liven up the atmosphere and simply turned to the cameraman, “So, can we start now?”
After about twenty minutes of driving, the car pulled over to the side.
Ji Chengyi looked out the window at the bustling market square, even under the scorching sun, recalling the staff’s earlier explanation of the process. He knew this was the first stopping point.
“President Ji,” the staff handed him an iPad, “Could you please write down the answers to these questions?”
Ji Chengyi took the iPad and glanced at the screen, which displayed five questions:
– What is your favorite flower?
– What is your favorite food?
– What is your favorite sport?
– What is your favorite movie?
– What is the name of your best friend?
After reading the questions, even Ji Chengyi, usually composed, couldn’t help but furrow his brow slightly, “You’re not planning to make Lin Jindu answer after me to test our synergy, are you?”
The staff chuckled, “No, this is to test Lin Jindu’s care for you.”
Ji Chengyi remained quiet, but his mind raced. The car didn’t stop just to make it convenient for the guests to write. There had to be a consequence.
Ji Chengyi speculated that if Lin Jindu couldn’t answer his questions correctly, he would likely be sent to the bustling market to complete a task. Despite being prepared for a challenging task, Ji Chengyi still felt some resistance, especially with the scorching sun outside. It was just too hot…
Ji Chengyi and Lin Jindu lacked any sort of personal synergy, let alone a level of care. So, he decided to keep his answers as simple as possible.
– What is your favorite flower?
– Orchids. (The flowers at home… the orchids.)
– What is your favorite food?
– Ribs. (He had just mentioned the ribs on the plane… yes, ribs.)
– What is your favorite sport?
– He hadn’t done any sports since moving in with Lin Jindu, which was pretty evident… doesn’t like sports.
– What is your favorite movie?
– The movie he watched in the kitchen that day was “Edge of Tomorrow.”
– Who is your best friend?
– Shen Fan.
“Done.” Ji Chengyi finished writing and handed the iPad back to the staff.
【The CEO doesn’t like sports, I don’t like sports, so rounding up, I’m also a CEO! Hands on hips.jpg】
【Only five questions, too easy, right? I suspect the show is going easy on us!】
【Don’t speak too soon, wait and see if Lin Jindu can’t answer correctly, will you get slapped in the face?】
“You don’t need to give it to me when you’re done, President Ji can call Lin Jindu directly.” The staff handed Ji Chengyi a phone, “You only have one minute to finish. If you can’t finish within a minute or answer less than three questions, then President Ji will have to face the consequences.”
With five questions and one minute, Ji Chengyi had more than enough time.
Ji Chengyi took the phone, “Do I just dial this number directly?”
“Yes.”
With the confirmation, Ji Chengyi dialed the number.
After three beeps, the call was answered, and a low magnetic voice, slightly uncertain, came through the speaker, “Hello?”
Detecting the uncertainty, likely unsure if it was Ji Chengyi on the line, Ji Chengyi spoke at a calm pace to clarify his intention, “Lin Jindu, this is Ji Chengyi. I have five questions to ask you.”
Quickly, Lin Jindu responded, “Yes, go ahead.”
Ji Chengyi asked, “What is my favorite flower?”
After a brief pause, the response came uncertainly, “Roses?”
Ji Chengyi: ?
Moving on swiftly, Ji Chengyi asked, “What is my favorite food?”
“…Steak?”
“What is my favorite sport?”
“…You don’t seem to like sports much.”
Ji Chengyi pursed his lips, realizing his aversion to physical activity was quite apparent.
Continuing, he asked, “What is my favorite movie?”
Lin Jindu responded, “Not quite sure.”
Directly moving to the next question, Ji Chengyi asked, “Who is my best friend?”
Lin Jindu had researched Ji Chengyi’s ex-boyfriend, so naturally, he knew who Ji Chengyi’s best friend was.
Quickly, Lin Jindu answered, “Shen Fan.”
While Lin Jindu missed one question, he got two correct answers. One correct answer was still needed, but the staff hadn’t prepared extra questions. Left with no choice, Ji Chengyi had to improvise, “What is my height?”
Thinking this question was straightforward since Lin Jindu had researched him, Ji Chengyi expected an easy answer. However, Lin Jindu confidently replied, “183 cm.”
Ji Chengyi, rounding it to 180 cm, was left speechless.
Then he cunningly argued, “Correct, I am 183 cm.”
The staff, unforgiving, reminded him, “We’ll measure on-site, President Ji.”
Ji Chengyi quickly corrected, “…I am 179.6 cm.”
Should have asked about birthdays.
【Ah, Ji Chengyi’s expression is so cute!!! Let me give him a kiss! Kiss.jpg】
【The show’s team is really brave, dismantling Ji Chengyi’s height on air, huh?】
【Ji Chengyi isn’t 180 cm? But he looks tall, is it just my perception?】
【It’s not your perception, Ji Chengyi has good proportions, he’s slim, so people like that usually appear taller.】
【But he’s not that tall, right? He looks quite small next to Lin Jindu, doesn’t he?】
【Hot knowledge, Lin Jindu’s official height is 190 cm. Smile.jpg】
As the one-minute timer ended, the staff retrieved the phone, “President Ji, the call is over.”
Ji Chengyi rarely lost, but he faced repeated setbacks as soon as he appeared on the show. He couldn’t help but feel a bit defeated, although he didn’t show it, simply returning the phone to the staff.
“Lin Jindu’s care for Ji Chengyi seems quite low, doesn’t even know what flowers Ji Chengyi likes?” Yao Tong began to mock, “I knew Ji Chengyi likes peonies.”
Ji Chengyi remained silent.
The staff didn’t follow up on Yao Tong’s remarks because the director had reminded them that, apart from Lin Jindu, no one else had any connection to Ji Chengyi in the show. They were wise not to ask any further or bring up unnecessary topics. Offending someone could lead to serious consequences.
So, the staff cleverly diverted the topic, “So, Yao Tong, did you hear about Ji Chengyi’s solo interview on the plane?” Yao Tong, not a fool, caught onto the staff’s intention and, displeased, pursed his lips, then turned to look out the window, refusing to engage further.
After the quiet settled in the car, Ji Chengyi gently asked, “So, what punishment do I have to face next?”
