“How can you be sure Han Yu is a suspect?” Lin Hai asked.
“I’m not entirely sure. It’s just that when he was at the scene, and while talking to me, his face suddenly changed. He looked like he was in for some bad luck.”
After Lin Wu was taken away, Han Yu had chased after Yu Ning for a few words.
During their conversation, the area between his eyebrows suddenly darkened, and at the same time, the area under his eyes, known as the Yin Virtue Palace, showed several faint reverse Yin Virtue lines.
If the Yin Virtue lines grow in the right direction, it’s a very good omen; otherwise, it means he has done something bad and is facing retribution.
Yu Ning had even reminded Han Yu to do good deeds and avoid immoral actions.
At that time, she didn’t know what Han Yu was planning, but then the incident with Lin Wu trending on social media happened.
Han Yu was at the scene and had the time to commit the crime, so Yu Ning considered him a major suspect.
“You can tell all that just by looking at someone’s face?”
Lin Hai swallowed hard, finding it hard to believe that his major dilemma was resolved so easily by her.
“It’s not 100% certain it’s him, so please investigate. Check his recent financial transactions, see if there are any payments to a PR company. That shouldn’t be too hard, right?”
Lin Hai nodded numbly, a complex expression on his face as he watched her enter the elevator.
“If she really called it right…” Lin Hai shuddered.
This world would be too fantastical.
Yu Ning, unaware of Lin Hai’s complicated thoughts, returned to the third floor, put down the cat, and walked over to the bed to check on President Lin.
She had been out for half a day, and President Lin’s vital signs remained stable, with no abnormalities on the instruments.
Yu Ning stared at his face for a few seconds, talking to herself.
“Why do I think he looks better than his two brothers, even though they all have two eyes and a mouth?”
Is this the awareness one should have when flattering a big shot?
The little black cat sitting on the ground proudly straightened its back, thinking, because you have good taste! He is indeed more handsome than those unreliable brothers!
Especially that flirtatious third brother, a typical playboy.
Lin Zheng was worried that she might be swayed by that shameless third brother.
Although he hadn’t planned on taking advantage of her when he woke up, given her dedication to her path, he couldn’t force her to stay.
But the third brother, that rotten cucumber, certainly wasn’t worthy of the girl.
After all, this girl had a bright future, a kind heart, and a strong sense of morality—long legs?
The black cat’s eyes straightened again.
Yu Ning took off her pants, and after that, she removed her top.
From the cat’s angle, those long, straight legs were quite a spectacular sight.
Yu Ning didn’t realize that the cat was already feeling warm in its nasal mucosa because of her.
Before entering the bathroom to shower, she didn’t forget to talk to the unconscious President Lin on the bed:
“Who would’ve thought you like girls with big chests? You look so righteous, like a good youth determined to join the party, but you’re actually a lecher, tsk.”
“Meow! Meow!” No! He doesn’t like big chests!
It’s all that scoundrel Wu spreading rumors, a slanderer, spit!
No matter how the black cat protested, Yu Ning couldn’t understand.
Soon, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
The black cat sulkily drank milk from the food bowl.
The rumors spread by the lecherous fifth brother had deeply influenced her.
Lin Zheng, who had always been upright and pure-hearted, saw something shocking.
His view fixed on the bathroom, which had frosted glass. The blurred outline revealed a delicate figure.
Those long legs captivated the pure-hearted Lin Zheng for a full five seconds.
When he finally managed to turn away out of respect, a dark bloodstain appeared on the hardwood floor.
Damn! He had a nosebleed!
The black cat’s eyes turned into slits.
He had just despised the third brother for being a shameless playboy, a licentious devil.
In the next second, he was the devil himself!
When did he become so shameless?
The distraught black cat stretched out its paw, trying to wipe away the evidence. After a few swipes, inspiration struck.
He had been focused on using the phone to type out a message to tell her he was Lin Zheng.
How did he forget that he could also use water to write on the floor?!
This is what they call missing the obvious.
Being used to high-tech methods, he had forgotten about primitive communication ways.
Thinking this, Lin Zheng eagerly ran to the water bowl, dipped his paw in the water, and started scribbling on the floor.
After just a couple of strokes, the bathroom door opened, and Yu Ning, wrapped in a towel and emitting a steamy mist, came out.
She immediately saw her beloved pet making a mess.
Lin Zheng had barely written two strokes before his body was lifted. He was now cradled against her familiar soft chest.
Then, his pupils contracted—she, she?!
Yu Ning lightly patted the kitten’s bottom.
“No playing with water, understand?”
“Meow!!!” Girl, get your hand off my balls!!!
“We’re just borrowing the Lin family house. If you scratch the floor, we’ll have to compensate for it. Also, cats playing with water can get fungal infections if not dried properly.”
Yu Ning earnestly lectured the little cat. Seeing its dazed expression, she softened a bit, thinking she had scolded it too harshly.
“When I complete my task and take you back to the mountains, you can play however you like. For now, we’re living under someone else’s roof, so we have to be careful. After all, President Lin is a domestic abuser and probably abuses cats too. I’m afraid he’ll hit you when I’m not around.”
“???”
So he wasn’t just labeled as a “lech who likes big chests,” but also as a “domestic and cat abuser”?
The black cat leaned against the soft chest with a blank expression, suddenly not wanting the fifth brother to wake up.
A slanderer deserves it, pah!
Though Lin Zheng was sharpening his knives against his slandering fifth brother in his heart, he still got nervous when Yu Ning pulled out the turtle shell for divination.
The third brother’s bet with the old man, and whether they could save the fifth brother, all depended on this girl’s divination.
Lin Zheng knew that the third brother was capable enough to handle the situation, but the second brother was an unpredictable factor, adding pressure on him.
It would be best if the girl could directly identify the true culprit.
Yu Ning picked up the turtle shell, and the black cat held its breath.
She put the shell down, her face full of hesitation.
The black cat’s heart sank. Could it be that she found this too difficult?
It’s true that placing such a big burden on a young girl is unfair.
She shouldn’t have been dragged into this. If only he were awake, it would be his responsibility, not hers…
Just as the black cat was worried, he heard her mutter to herself.
“I forgot to do my daily meditation today. Let’s meditate first.”
Thud.
The black cat collapsed in a comedic pose.
Worrying for nothing!
This girl wasn’t nervous at all!
She even had time for trashy web novels!
Soon, the room was filled with the mechanical female voice reading:
“Chapter 3: The President is Infertile, Yet I Bore Eight Children.”
“…”
President Lin, listening to the absurd content and watching Yu Ning meditate, silently made a decision.
When he woke up, the first thing he’d do was acquire “Penguin Books.”
She said that back in the mountains, he could play however he wanted. The black cat silently noted this, thinking it might be a test question in the future.
Vote for Niuniu Mi! If you don’t, President Lin will acquire the book site!
