In the blink of an eye, Tang You had already been at Fifth High for a week.

Many people at the school were secretly talking about her. Everyone knew she had transferred from a prestigious school in Haicheng, and there were those who claimed to be in the know, spreading half-true rumors.

For example:

“I went to kindergarten with Tang You. Her mom’s super strict, so you’d better not mess with her.”

“I heard she has a boyfriend in Haicheng who spoils her a lot.”

“So, she’s not a virgin anymore?”

“As if you’d have a chance, what are you thinking?”

Tang You wasn’t unaware of the rumors swirling around, but from childhood to now, from C City to Haicheng, she’d heard them too many times and had long since gotten used to ignoring them.

However, her sudden rise to prominence inadvertently overshadowed the previous school beauty, Cheng Xuan.

The boys who used to fawn over Cheng Xuan suddenly “lost interest” and shifted their attention to another girl.

This piqued Cheng Xuan’s curiosity. What was so extraordinary about this girl, who was being praised to the skies, that made everyone talk about her during breaks?

So, after class that noon, Cheng Xuan decided to visit the international class to meet Tang You.

The international class and regular class at Fifth High were in two separate buildings. Cheng Xuan and her girlfriends had just reached the international class building when they saw a short-haired girl surrounded by several people at the far end of the first-floor classroom.

It looked like she was in some sort of trouble.

Cheng Xuan had become the top school beauty of Fifth High not just because she was beautiful, but more importantly because she had a strong sense of justice.

Previously, when a girl was harassed by some thugs at the school gate, Cheng Xuan had fearlessly stepped in and cursed them out, even slapping one of them hard, leaving the thug stunned as he covered his face and ran off.

Since then, Cheng Xuan had firmly established her reputation as the top girl at Fifth High.

So although other girls might envy her beauty, most of the time, they would still respectfully call her “Sister Xuan” when they saw her.

In situations like this, where it was clearly a case of school bullying, Cheng Xuan would never stand by and do nothing.

She approached and recognized that the ones blocking the girl were led by the infamous Li Shiyu from International Class A, a third-generation rich kid.

This girl was rich, arrogant, and often mocked students from regular classes as poor losers. She even looked down on some of her classmates.

At that moment, Li Shiyu had her arms crossed and was coldly questioning the short-haired girl:

“Don’t you know the class president of Class B is someone I like?”

The short-haired girl replied calmly, her voice soft but steady: “I didn’t know.”

Her calm demeanor angered Li Shiyu: “Well, now you know! You’d better not accept any love letters from him!”

She leaned in and threatened in a low voice.

Even though Li Shiyu spoke quietly, Cheng Xuan still heard her say, “If you dare accept, you’ll regret it.”

But the short-haired girl responded immediately, neither humble nor overbearing, “Then why don’t you just tell him not to send them?”

“You—”

Wow, this girl’s got guts.

Cheng Xuan couldn’t help but smile.

Though the short-haired girl’s words were mild, they hit Li Shiyu right where it hurt.

Everyone at school knew Li Shiyu had a crush on the Class B president, but he wasn’t interested in her at all. It was a one-sided love.

For a spoiled rich girl like Li Shiyu, who had never been mocked like this, her face turned ugly, and she raised her hand to slap the girl.

Just as her hand was about to fall, Cheng Xuan finally spoke up.

“Li Shiyu.”

With just that one call, Li Shiyu’s raised hand immediately stopped.

Seeing that it was Cheng Xuan who called her, Li Shiyu’s arrogance faltered slightly, but her tone was still a bit aggressive: “What do you want?”

At this moment, one of Cheng Xuan’s friends whispered to her, “The short-haired girl is Tang You.”

What a coincidence.

Cheng Xuan couldn’t help but tilt her head and take another look.

The girl was petite, neatly dressed in her school uniform, looking like a little mushroom, the typical well-behaved daughter of a wealthy family.

But there was something subtly different about her from the usual well-behaved girls.

There was a certain toughness in her eyes, a strength that had been especially evident when she confronted Li Shiyu just now.

Cheng Xuan raised an eyebrow, withdrew her gaze, and then addressed Li Shiyu, “Shouldn’t I be asking you what you’re doing? Are you trying to bully a new student again?”

Li Shiyu’s face paled.

They all knew that Cheng Xuan had a wild temperament, liked to hang out with the boys, and even dared to slap thugs in public. She wasn’t just bold; she was fearless.

So, despite looking down on her, they didn’t really dare to provoke her.

Since Cheng Xuan had intervened, the situation had to end here.

With a reluctant expression, Li Shiyu left, and Tang You secretly let out a sigh of relief, glancing over at Cheng Xuan.

The girl who had helped her was very beautiful, with sharp features, a tall figure, and wearing a ripped and frayed denim jacket that made her look particularly cool.

She was exactly the type of girl Tang You admired—confident and carefree.

Tang You sincerely thanked her, “Thank you for helping me earlier, classmate.”

Tang You’s voice was very soft, like cotton or the gentle touch of a kitten’s paw. Even though Cheng Xuan was a girl, she couldn’t help but feel a tickle in her heart, softened by it.

Not to mention those hot-blooded boys in their teenage years—just hearing that voice would probably cause a physical reaction.
