Su Wanru rushed back to the bedroom and yanked the still-sleeping Luo Chenfeng out of bed.
“Old Luo! Where’s Nuan Nuan?! Where did my Nuan Nuan go?!”
“Nuan Nuan’s probably still asleep…” Luo Chenfeng mumbled groggily.
“I went to her room and she wasn’t there! She’s missing! My baby’s gone…” Su Wanru’s voice began to choke with emotion.
That sobering fear immediately jolted Luo Chenfeng awake.
“What?! Have you checked downstairs? Maybe she’s already up?”
“I… I didn’t. I panicked and came straight to get you!” Su Wanru blinked back tears and bolted toward the stairs.
“Careful! Don’t rush, you’ll fall. I’ll go down with you,” Luo Chenfeng said quickly, pulling her along.
—
At that moment, Luo Yunyan had just returned from her morning run. As she passed the dining room, she saw Luo Yunzhe sitting at the table with a cup of coffee, staring at his laptop.
Tsk tsk… as expected, being a CEO isn’t for the faint of heart…
“Morning, big bro.”
Luo Yunzhe looked up.
“Morning, Nuan Nuan. You went for a run? Why so early?”
“Yeah, biological clock. I’m used to it.” Luo Yunyan sat down across from him.
Wang Ma walked up.
“Young Miss, what would you like for breakfast? We’ve got both Western and Chinese styles.”
“Soy milk and fried dough sticks, thanks, Wang Ma.”
“You’re welcome, dear. Coming right up.” Wang Ma smiled and headed back to the kitchen. The young miss is so beautiful and well-mannered. What a sweetheart.
Luo Yunzhe was just about to say something when they heard a flurry of footsteps from upstairs.
The two siblings looked up to see their parents rushing down the stairs in pajamas, clearly in a panic.
They exchanged a glance and stood up to meet them.
The moment Su Wanru saw Luo Yunyan, she visibly relaxed.
She ran up and hugged her tight. “Nuan Nuan! Thank goodness, you’re still here!”
“What’s wrong, Mom? Dad?” Luo Yunyan looked to Luo Chenfeng in confusion.
Luo Chenfeng let out a helpless sigh.
“Your mom went to your room and didn’t see you there. She got a little worked up.”
Luo Yunyan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
She quickly comforted her, “Mom, I’m just used to getting up early. I went for a run, that’s all. Don’t worry—I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
“I’m not scared, I’m not…” Su Wanru murmured, but her hand gently stroked her daughter’s back, reluctant to let go.
Once she finally calmed down, Luo Yunyan released her.
“My brother and I were just about to eat. You and Dad want to go back and rest a little?”
“No, no, we’re up now. We’ll wash up and come down. You go ahead and eat,” Su Wanru said, pulling Luo Chenfeng upstairs with her, glancing back every few steps.
Back at the table, Luo Yunzhe explained, “Mom just worries about you. Don’t take it to heart.”
“How could I? I won’t overthink it. Don’t worry, big bro.” Luo Yunyan shook her head and sipped her soy milk.
As usual, she finished her breakfast quickly. Just then, Uncle Zhang walked in.
“Young Miss, someone’s here to see you. Said they’re delivering something for you.”
She glanced at her phone. Night Wuyou had just messaged her—probably worried she was asleep and didn’t want to call.
“Uncle Zhang, let him in.”
“Yes, right away.”
Just as she stood up, she caught Luo Yunzhe staring at her curiously. She smiled.
“Finished eating already? Feel like coming with me?”
“Ahem… Sure. I’ll go.” Luo Yunzhe shot up, afraid she’d change her mind.
Tsk, what a tsundere…
Out in the courtyard, they saw Night Wuyou directing people unloading items from the car.
He turned when he heard footsteps.
“Luo-jie!”
He didn’t know how much the boss had revealed to the Luo family, so he stuck to the usual respectful nickname when others were around.
“You came in person?” Luo Yunyan raised a brow. She thought Jiang Yining would’ve just sent someone.
“I happened to be nearby… and I missed you, so I volunteered,” Night Wuyou replied with a goofy grin. At 185 cm tall, his big, dopey smile would’ve looked ridiculous—if not for that extremely photogenic face.
After all, Luo Yunyan was a sucker for looks. Whether friends or subordinates, she had one standard—good-looking only.
“Yining labeled each item to make it easier for you to tell them apart,” he said after everything was moved into the living room.
Luo Yunyan nodded.
“Alright. If you’re staying in the capital, go find Jiang Ziang. He’ll arrange something for you.”
“Got it! I’ll laze around a couple of days before heading back.”
After he left, Uncle Zhang looked at the boxes in confusion.
“Young Miss, shall I move these to your room?”
“No need. Leave them here. I’m bringing them to the old estate later,” Luo Yunyan replied.
“Understood.”
She opened one of the boxes—it held the gifts for the six core family members—so she simply moved it over to the coffee table.
“Big bro, come—” Luo Yunzhe’s words cut off the moment he saw his petite, delicate-looking sister haul the entire box onto the table by herself.
Luo Yunzhe: …Seriously?
“Nuan Nuan, this ‘Yining’ is…?”
“Oh, she’s a very important friend of mine—Jiang Yining. We grew up together. When she has time to visit the capital, I’ll introduce you.”
Without looking up, Luo Yunyan pulled out the package with his name on it and handed it over without a second glance.
Luo Yunzhe raised an eyebrow.
“What’s this?”
“A gift for you.”
It was a paper envelope, with a slight bulge in the center—curious.
He pulled out the small box inside. When he opened it, he found a pair of antique-style cufflinks.
Something about them felt oddly familiar…
Wait—didn’t he see these at an auction in Country A? Weren’t they sold for over 60 million?
And wasn’t the buyer a man…?
“Thank you, Nuan Nuan, but I can’t accept this,” he said, pushing the box back.
If he’d bought them himself, even at nine figures he wouldn’t have blinked—but this was something his sister had earned through hard work. He couldn’t accept it.
“You don’t like it?” Luo Yunyan pursed her lips.
“Of course I do! I just think it’s too valuable,” Luo Yunzhe quickly clarified.
“Then take it. It’s not some priceless item. If I keep it, it’ll just collect dust. I have tons of this kind of thing anyway.”
Luo Yunzhe: Right. Of course. Just some random multi-million-dollar thing gathering dust…
Unable to win the argument, he turned to the other item in the envelope. A… contract?
He flipped a few pages and suddenly looked up in shock.
“What is it?” Luo Yunyan tilted her head, puzzled.
Oh. M Port’s top-level aviation rights.
The Luo family had recently expanded into exports, and port usage fees were a huge yearly expense. Plus, security inspections caused major delays. Jiang Yining’s gift hit exactly where it mattered.
Luo Yunzhe hesitated, then asked, “But… isn’t M Port closed to outsiders?”
“Oh, it’s mine. I usually keep it for personal use, so it’s not open to the public.”
He had expected the answer but was still stunned.
“But… it says here it’s free…”
“Ugh, big bro, come on. It’s just moving money from one pocket to another. Just sign it. Worst case, you can give me more pocket money later.”
“Pocket money? Nuan Nuan, you short on cash?” came a voice from behind. Luo Chenfeng and Su Wanru had just finished washing up and arrived in time to hear the end of the conversation.
Luo Yunyan turned back with a smile.
“No, Dad, I was just teasing. Go eat your breakfast.”
She then picked up a pen from the coffee table and shoved it into Luo Yunzhe’s hand, giving him a look that left no room for discussion.
With no other choice, he obediently signed his name at the bottom.
In his head, he was already planning to transfer half of his shares to her as soon as possible.
