Celibate Monk Prince? Then who’s the clingy little crybaby in her arms?
Chapter 8: The Luo Family’s Old Residence

The Luo family’s old residence sat halfway up the mountainside. After several rounds of expansion, it had grown into a sprawling luxury estate.

Luo Grandfather and Luo Grandmother had only two sons: Luo Chenfeng (her father) and his younger brother Luo Chenkai. Years ago, Luo Chenkai chose a career in politics, so it was Luo Chenfeng who inherited the family business, taking over Luo Corporation and expanding it into a powerful empire.

After both brothers married and had children, their relationship remained strong—there was none of the backstabbing and infighting typical of powerful families. After all, there was no throne to fight over. The family wealth was more than enough to last several lifetimes—it was just a number.

Because of that, the brothers were united, and the sisters-in-law got along harmoniously. Every month, the entire family would return to the estate to spend time with the elders.

The one regret of the elder generation had always been not having a daughter. They had pinned their hopes on the grandchildren, dreaming of having a sweet, soft little girl—or even better, multiple.

Luo Chenfeng and Su Wanru fell in love and first had two sons: Luo Yunzhe and Luo Yunxi. Luo Chenkai and his wife Chu Manting were childhood sweethearts—desk mates since elementary school. After high school, Luo Chenkai basically tricked her into an engagement. They had their first child, Luo Yunfan, in their second year of marriage. Unfortunately, due to complications, Chu Manting was told it would be difficult for her to conceive again.

So when Su Wanru got pregnant with twins on her third try, the whole family was overjoyed. All the baby supplies had been bought in duplicate—two sets of everything for baby girls.

If they turned out to be boys? With so many older brothers around, hand-me-downs would do just fine.

When the twins were born—a boy and a girl—the family was ecstatic. Even one daughter was better than none.

The moment they saw the pink, chubby-cheeked Luo Yunyan, the elders showered her with gifts like money meant nothing. From islands, real estate, and shares in companies, to princess rooms, frilly dresses, and jewelry—by the time she was just a few days old, she was already a billionaire.

Later, when Aunt Chu unexpectedly became pregnant again, everyone was worried the pregnancy might put her health at risk. They advised her to terminate it, but she insisted on keeping the child.

Then she gave birth to… another boy. Honestly, they might’ve preferred the risk.

Still, the idea of another stinky little boy helping protect their precious girl offered some consolation.

As for the Su family? Her maternal uncle and aunt had also produced two sons.

So, it went without saying: Luo Yunyan was the family’s one and only princess—spoiled beyond belief.

As soon as the car entered the estate grounds, they saw a large group of people waiting at the main building’s entrance.

Most of the extended family had already arrived. Behind them stood a row of servants in uniform.

Luo Yunyan was momentarily stunned by the scene.

Perhaps sensing her tension, Su Wanru gently patted her hand.
“Don’t be nervous. Everyone’s just been waiting so long to see you, so they all came back today. Only little Jin couldn’t make it—he just started his final year of high school and can’t skip class. He’ll be back after school.”

“Don’t worry, Mom. I’m fine,” Luo Yunyan smiled and opened the car door.

As soon as she stepped out, two elderly women in elegant qipaos practically sprinted over, moving faster than anyone expected at their age.

She was immediately enveloped in hugs.
“Nuan Nuan, my sweet Nuan Nuan…”

And there it was—two more people crying.

She returned the hugs warmly.
“Grandma, Grandma Su.”

“Oh, good girl. You’re finally home. You must’ve suffered so much these years. Look how skinny you’ve gotten. We need to feed you up.”
They clung to her, refusing to let go.

Grandpa Luo couldn’t stand it.
“Ahem, alright, that’s enough. Don’t scare the child.” I haven’t even had a chance to hug her yet.

“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re really after!” Grandma Luo shot him a glare.

The younger generation tried to suppress their laughter. Grandpa Luo awkwardly rubbed his nose.

Who would’ve thought that Luo Hongyu, the famous and fearsome business magnate, was totally henpecked at home?

Luo Yunyan gently extricated herself and greeted the rest of the family one by one.
“Grandpa, Grandpa Su, Uncle, Aunt, Uncle and Aunt Su, Little Uncle… and the three big brothers.”

“Ah, Nuan Nuan!” Everyone responded with beaming smiles.

Grandpa Luo gave a smug look to Grandpa Su.
“She called me first!”

“Tch. It’s a happy day. I’ll let you gloat.” Grandpa Su didn’t even look at him.

The two old men had been at odds since their youth. The Su family came from scholarly roots, while Grandpa Luo always thought Grandpa Su spoke in annoyingly flowery prose. Grandpa Su, in turn, found Grandpa Luo’s voice grating and his manner too rough. It was a miracle they hadn’t fought over the years—and even more so that they ended up in-laws.

Little Uncle Su Sihao quietly thought: Hmph, when Nuan Nuan called me, she used all three characters of my name. All of you are amateurs.

“Alright, let’s head inside. Nuan Nuan’s even brought gifts for everyone,” Luo Chenfeng announced. “Uncle Zhang, please have a few people bring in the boxes.”

Uncle Zhang—Assistant Zhang’s grandfather—had been with the family since Grandpa Luo’s youth. After retiring, he simply stayed on as the family butler.

“Yes, sir,” Uncle Zhang replied immediately and brought four servants over to carry in the large gift boxes.

Inside the living room, Luo Yunyan handed out the gifts she’d prepared. Each one was perfectly suited to its recipient.

Even if she had come empty-handed, no one would’ve minded. But it was clear that every present had been thoughtfully chosen. Hitting the mark with every family member’s preferences naturally made them even more delighted.

And when it came time for the elders to give their return gifts? Even Luo Yunyan—someone usually numb to money—was stunned.
This is… absurdly extravagant.

Aunt Chu Manting emerged from the kitchen holding a tray. She took Luo Yunyan’s hand, eyes slightly red.
“Nuan Nuan, Auntie remembers you used to love my osmanthus cakes and ginger milk pudding. I made them for you this morning—don’t know if your tastes have changed, but want to try and see?”

Chu Manting had always longed for a daughter. But she had given birth to a boy, and so had all her in-laws and siblings. She had made peace with the fact that she would never have a daughter.

Thankfully, her sister-in-law eventually had a girl, and she had always treated that little girl as her own. In all these years since she went missing, she’d never stopped feeling guilt—and had even pulled every connection she had trying to find her.

Luo Yunyan took a bite of each dish.
“I still love them. Thank you, Auntie.”

“Good, good. I’ll make more next time. You’ve grown into such a beautiful young lady.” She stroked her hair fondly.

Then Luo Chenfeng spoke.
“I called everyone back today not only to welcome Nuan Nuan home, but also because I want to hold an official return banquet. Even though the internet’s already buzzing, we need to make our stance clear—just in case some people in the circle think we’re indifferent and disrespect Nuan Nuan.”

“Absolutely! And it’s gotta be a big one!” Grandma Luo slapped the table. “She’s the apple of both families’ eyes—how can we let her be underestimated?”

Back in the day, Grandma Luo had conquered the business world alongside her husband. Anyone who thought this elegant old lady was now soft just because she wore qipaos and covered her mouth with a lace handkerchief when she laughed… well, they were in for a nasty surprise.

If anyone really believed that? Well, good luck to them.

The Su family quickly voiced their support as well—everyone except Grandpa Luo, who stayed quiet.

As the rest started discussing banquet plans, Grandpa Luo stood up.
“Nuan Nuan, come with Grandpa to the study for a moment.”

“Okay, Grandpa.” Luo Yunyan stepped forward and gently supported him as they headed upstairs.
