Chapter 10: There are More Men in This World Than Just Gu Linchuan
The Qiao Family.
Qiao Shuyi slept until the sun went down, waking up feeling refreshed.
She hadn’t slept well at the Sheng family’s last night, having had nightmares repeatedly. She had dark circles under her eyes when she woke up this morning.
So after seeing Sheng Tang off, Qiao Shuyi went back to her room to catch up on sleep, and slept until now.
“Knock, knock.”
The bedroom door was suddenly knocked on. Before Qiao Shuyi could react, the door was pushed open from the outside, revealing a small head: “Sister, are you awake?”
It was a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl with a high ponytail, wearing a plaid skirt. Her face was fair and beautiful, full of collagen. Her eyebrows and eyes were five or six points similar to Qiao Shuyi’s.
“Ranan?”
A flash of surprise crossed Qiao Shuyi’s eyes. This was the first time she had seen her younger sister, Qiao Shuran, since her rebirth.
In her previous life, Qiao Shuran was already a junior in college when she got married. She was a beautiful and graceful young lady. Now, seeing her at fifteen, Qiao Shuyi felt a little uncomfortable.
“Mom asked me to call you down for dinner. She said you’ve been sleeping all afternoon.”
“Okay, I’ll get up now.” Qiao Shuyi quickly got out of bed and started to get dressed.
Qiao Shuran didn’t leave, however, standing by her bed, her expression hesitant.
“What’s wrong?”
Qiao Shuran bit her lip, looking conflicted. “Sister, Mom told me about what happened this morning. Linchuan… no, I can’t call him brother anymore! Gu Linchuan is so overbearing. Sister, please don’t like him anymore, okay?”
Qiao Shuyi was successfully amused by her and reached out to rub her head. “Okay, I don’t like him anymore.”
“Really?”
“Of course it’s true. Your sister doesn’t like men who are two-timing.”
Hearing this, a smile bloomed on Qiao Shuran’s face. “Then let’s go downstairs for dinner!”
“Okay.”
The two sisters, hand in hand, went downstairs together.
The Qiao family had two daughters, the elder Qiao Shuyi and the younger Qiao Shuran. Although they were seven years apart, they had a good relationship and looked somewhat alike. People nicknamed them “Big Qiao” and “Little Qiao.”
Last night, Qiao Shuran naturally attended her sister’s engagement party, but she and her friends were playing downstairs and were completely unaware of what happened upstairs.
It wasn’t until her parents came down to announce the cancellation of the engagement that she realized something was wrong.
She wanted to ask her sister what happened last night, but she had stayed at a friend’s house.
It was Sunday, and although she didn’t have to go to school, her school had arranged a study tour and she left early in the morning. She had just returned and saw her sister.
She used to envy her sister and Gu Linchuan. They were childhood sweethearts with a deep relationship, a perfect match.
Who would have thought that he would be flirting with other women, even abandoning her sister at the engagement party? It was so infuriating!
She would never give Gu Linchuan a good look again!
…
After dinner, Qiao Shuyi sat with her family in the living room, watching TV and chatting. The atmosphere was warm and happy, and no one mentioned the Gu family again.
She felt like it had been a long time since she had spent time with her family like this. In her previous life, she had joined Qiao’s company shortly after graduating from college and gradually took over the family business. She was busy every day.
The only free time she had was spent on that idiot Gu Linchuan.
Thinking back now, it was really not worth it.
It was so much better to spend time with her family.
From childhood to adulthood, she had lived in a happy and fulfilling family. Her mother was gentle and virtuous, her father was steady and responsible, and her sister was innocent and lovely. No matter what decisions she made, her family would support her unconditionally.
Even when she decided to marry Gu Linchuan in her previous life, they didn’t say a word against it.
They only said that the Qiao family would always be her backing.
Although she didn’t know what happened after she died in her previous life, she knew that her family would definitely avenge her.
If it weren’t for Gu Linchuan, she should have been able to live a peaceful and prosperous life…
“Shuyi, what are your plans for the future?” Qiao’s father’s loving voice suddenly sounded.
Qiao Shuyi came back to her senses and smiled. “Dad, what do you mean?”
“Originally, I thought that after you and Linchuan got engaged, I would let you gradually take over the family business. When you got married, I would hand it all over to you… Who would have thought that something like this would happen.”
Qiao’s father sighed, his tone filled with self-blame. “Dad has been thinking about this all day. I’m wondering if I did something wrong. Maybe I shouldn’t have been so eager to have you and Linchuan get engaged.”
Qiao Shuyi’s nose turned sour. “Dad, don’t say that. It’s not your fault…”
“You’re only 22 years old, just graduated from college. You’re still so young. Your life has so many possibilities. You shouldn’t follow our arrangements. Whether it’s work or love, you should try more things. Only by trying more can you find what suits you.”
Meeting her father’s loving gaze, Qiao Shuyi could no longer suppress the sourness in her heart. Tears fell down her cheeks, one after another.
Seeing this, Qiao’s mother took out a tissue and gently wiped away the tears on her face. “Shuyi, your father is right. You’re still so young. You should try more things. No matter what you decide, we’ll support you.”
“Okay.”
“But don’t rush. Shuyi, you should rest for a while and think slowly. Think about what you want to do in the future. Whether it’s starting your own business or working for someone else, if you need anything, just tell Dad. If you can’t think of anything, you can also work at Qiao’s.”
Qiao Shuyi sniffed and smiled. “Okay, thank you, Dad. Thank you, Mom.”
“Silly girl, what are you thanking us for? We’re a family.”
…
At night, Qiao Shuyi lay in bed, unable to sleep again.
She had only been reborn for a day, but many things were different from her previous life.
In her previous life, she foolishly believed Gu Linchuan and the Gu family’s lies and forgave his behavior of running away at the last minute.
Although Qiao’s father and mother were dissatisfied with him, because of her, they didn’t say much in the end. They even agreed to Gu Linchuan’s parents to reschedule the engagement date.
However, before the new date could be discussed, Gu Linchuan started to show off with Liang Man in public.
Qiao Shuyi and the Qiao family’s reputation were thrown to the ground by him…
However, in this life, because she exposed the Gu family’s lies, Qiao’s father and mother also saw through Gu Linchuan’s true face and kicked them out of the Qiao family.
Not only that, they also seriously reflected on themselves and gave her new options.
This was something that had never happened in her previous life.
In her previous life, before she graduated from college, she knew clearly what her future life plan was: join Qiao’s company, gradually take over the family business, and get engaged and married to Gu Linchuan.
She did indeed follow this path resolutely.
Even when she stepped into the marriage hall with Gu Linchuan, she never doubted that there was anything wrong with this path.
However, her parents’ words tonight made her wake up.
Whether it was her career or love, she should try more things.
There were more men in the world than just Gu Linchuan, and more companies than just Qiao’s. Only by trying more could she find what suited her.
Now, in terms of love, she was already trying to get to know Sheng Yu.
In terms of her career, however, she was lost.
She didn’t know what her interests were, nor did she know what she was good at.
She majored in management in college, not because she liked the subject, but because she wanted to take over Qiao’s better.
Now that she was told she didn’t have to take over Qiao’s, she suddenly didn’t know what to do.
But thankfully, she wasn’t in a hurry.
She had plenty of time to think slowly…
