Chapter 5: I Dreamed I Was Killed by Gu Linchuan
The first night after her rebirth, Qiao Shuyi didn’t sleep well. She had many hazy dreams.
She dreamt of her and Gu Linchuan’s childhood. They grew up together, almost inseparable, a couple everyone tacitly acknowledged.
She would bring a bottle of water to the field after school to watch Gu Linchuan play basketball, waiting for him to finish and walk home together. The setting sun would stretch their shadows long.
When she accidentally got her skirt stained during her period, Gu Linchuan would blush and take off his jacket, wrapping it around her waist.
A few months before her birthday every year, Gu Linchuan would secretly prepare birthday gifts, just to surprise her…
They were undoubtedly a beautiful couple.
Their relationship remained strong after they went to university.
Until, a girl named Liang Man appeared in their lives.
She was a poor student sponsored by the Gu family. She had worked hard to get into the capital city from a remote mountain village.
On her first day in the capital city, she visited the Gu family to express her gratitude.
At first, Gu Linchuan didn’t like her. He thought she was rustic and ugly, and she liked to stir up trouble.
The capital city’s environment was nurturing.
In less than two years, Liang Man transformed from an ugly duckling into a pure and beautiful swan.
Not only did her skin become whiter and her figure fuller, but her overall temperament and speech also improved significantly.
When they met again, Gu Linchuan’s gaze lingered on her for a long time, his eyes revealing a complex emotion that Qiao Shuyi couldn’t understand.
Later, without her knowledge, he grew closer and closer to Liang Man.
He took her to fancy restaurants, went shopping with her, accompanied her to class, and celebrated her birthday…
They were becoming more and more like a couple.
Rumors quickly reached Qiao Shuyi’s ears. She couldn’t bear her boyfriend getting so close to another girl.
She expressed her dissatisfaction several times, but Gu Linchuan only responded with perfunctory words and annoyance.
Even during their first engagement, a call from Liang Man made Gu Linchuan leave without hesitation.
Later, he wanted to break off the engagement and be with Liang Man, but his parents strongly opposed it.
They valued family background and matching social status. They would never allow their precious son to be with a sponsored student.
Unexpectedly, Gu Linchuan was truly in love and began to rebel, even threatening to use his life.
Gu’s father and mother were heartbroken and helpless, but they still didn’t want him to be with Liang Man.
Finally, Gu’s mother came up with a perfect plan – to target Liang Man, using threats and inducements.
However, Gu’s mother didn’t want to confront Liang Man, a “white-eyed wolf,” so she tearfully begged Qiao Shuyi for help.
Qiao Shuyi couldn’t bear to see her aunt, who had loved her since childhood, begging her so desperately. She agreed.
She took the two million check Gu’s mother gave her and found Liang Man. They had a three-hour negotiation at a coffee shop.
Liang Man was a realistic and ambitious person. After weighing the pros and cons, she accepted the check and promised to break up with Gu Linchuan and study abroad.
Of course, all the tuition fees would be covered by the Gu family.
Gu’s mother found her a school and booked her flight.
Before the plane took off, Liang Man sent Gu Linchuan a breakup text as agreed.
Perhaps out of resentment or revenge, she mentioned “Qiao Shuyi” in the text. The implication was that she was willing to let her and Gu Linchuan be together.
However, fate had other plans. The flight to the United States crashed mid-flight, killing all passengers.
Liang Man was among them.
Gu Linchuan was devastated when he learned the news. He rushed to the Qiao family and grabbed Qiao Shuyi’s neck. If others hadn’t intervened in time, she would have been strangled to death.
That day, Gu Linchuan was like a furious, out-of-control lion, terrifying everyone…
She thought Liang Man’s death would become a chasm between her and Gu Linchuan, making them impossible.
Unexpectedly, a month later, Gu Linchuan, whose emotions had stabilized, visited her with gifts to apologize.
Qiao Shuyi felt guilty about Liang Man’s death, so she didn’t hold it against him.
Time passed, and she and Gu Linchuan seemed to return to their previous life, as if Liang Man had never existed.
Under their parents’ arrangement, they naturally got engaged, discussed marriage, and finally entered the hall of matrimony…
The scene froze on the moment they exchanged rings. Then, time and space distorted, and the scene before Qiao Shuyi’s eyes turned into a sea of fire.
“If it weren’t for you, Manman wouldn’t be dead!”
“You deserve to go to hell!”
“Today, I’ll send you down to be with Manman!”
Gu Linchuan’s devilish face appeared in the dream. He raised his foot and kicked her back into the sea of fire.
The flames quickly engulfed her, and excruciating pain spread throughout her body…
The scene changed again.
A black figure suddenly rushed into the sea of fire, embracing her, who was on the verge of death from the flames.
“Qiao Qiao, I’m sorry, I’m late…”
It was Sheng Yu!
He held her burning body and ran towards the door with difficulty.
The flames gradually consumed his body, scorching his face, burning his body and hands.
Qiao Shuyi opened her mouth wide, wanting to tell him to escape, but her throat felt as if it was blocked by something, and she couldn’t make a sound.
Go quickly!
Qiao Shuyi suddenly opened her eyes.
The sea of fire disappeared. What she saw was a white ceiling and a luxurious crystal chandelier.
She stared blankly at the ceiling and crystal chandelier for a long time.
Until, a white, slender hand waved in front of her.
Her pupils gradually focused, and her gaze shifted from the ceiling to the person next to her.
Sheng Tang yawned and said, “Qiao Qiao, why are you spacing out so early in the morning?”
Qiao Shuyi didn’t say anything. She slowly sat up from the bed, still not recovered from the dream.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Sheng Tang asked.
Qiao Shuyi softly hummed.
“What did you dream about? You kept muttering ‘go quickly, go quickly,’ and you woke me up.”
Listening to Sheng Tang’s complaints, Qiao Shuyi was stunned. The sea of fire reappeared in her mind.
“Tell me, what did you dream about?” Sheng Tang urged.
Qiao Shuyi took a deep breath and said slowly, “I dreamt that I was… killed by Gu Linchuan.”
For others, it was just a dream.
But for her, it was something that had truly happened, a painful experience, and a bloody lesson.
“Damn it! I knew he wasn’t a good guy! He even dared to harm you in your dream! Just you wait!”
Qiao Shuyi smiled, got out of bed, and said, “It was just a dream.”
“Even a dream is not okay!”
“Don’t worry about him. Let’s get up. Your brother seems to have come back last night.”
“!”
Sheng Tang’s eyes widened, and then he flipped off the bed.
“Qiao Qiao, why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“You didn’t ask.”
“…”
