Chapter 70: I Thought He Wasn’t Interested in Women
“I heard that Brother Yu found us a sister-in-law, I didn’t believe it! Now I see, it’s true!”
A sudden, strange male voice rang out from behind, tinged with a peculiar amusement.
Qiao Shuyi was standing beside Sheng Yu, exchanging pleasantries with the head of the Lin Group. Her smile faltered upon hearing the voice.
By the time she turned around, the speaker had already strode up to them.
Sheng Mingze, dressed in a navy blue striped suit, looked every bit the gentleman. Though his lips curved in a smile, his eyes held a sinister glint that sent shivers down one’s spine.
Sheng Mingwei trailed behind him, clad in a black dress, her brows arched as she scrutinized Qiao Shuyi.
Upon seeing the pair, Sheng Yu’s face visibly cooled. “I recall, neither of you were on our Shengshi invitation list, were you?”
“What are you saying, Brother Yu? We’re all family, you don’t need to invite us, we can just come,” Sheng Mingze chuckled, showing no signs of awkwardness.
Qiao Shuyi was almost impressed by his audacity. Just the other day, he had publicly berated Sheng Yu, calling him a “bastard,” yet now he was calling him “Brother Yu” with a smile.
“Family?” Sheng Yu scoffed. “My family consists only of my own sister, Sheng Tang.”
“Brother Yu, that’s harsh. We all share the Sheng surname, we have the same grandfather, how can we not be family?” Sheng Mingwei chimed in, a smirk playing on her lips.
Sheng Yu didn’t bother hiding the disgust in his eyes, not even granting her a glance.
“Brother Yu, why don’t you introduce us to your little sister-in-law?”
Sheng Yu let out a cold snort. “Do you two even deserve that?”
Sheng Mingze gritted his teeth, a flash of anger in his eyes. He was about to lash out, but Sheng Mingwei restrained him.
“Brother Yu, now that Uncle and Aunt are gone, Father and Second Uncle are very concerned about your future. You see, we heard you brought your girlfriend tonight, so we quickly came to have a look.”
Even Qiao Shuyi didn’t believe her lies.
The two of them were dressed to the nines, clearly prepared in advance. Whether she was present tonight or not, they would have come.
“Mr. Sheng, you have a selective memory. Didn’t we just meet at Old Madam Ji’s birthday banquet?”
Qiao Shuyi spoke with a gentle smile, but her eyes held a chill. “You may not remember me, but I remember you very well. Not just me, I’m sure everyone who attended the birthday banquet remembers you.”
She was subtly reminding Sheng Mingze about his escapade with a woman in the hotel’s resting room.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Sheng Mingze’s face contorted, his gaze turning menacing. “You…”
Sheng Yu stepped in front of Qiao Shuyi, his cold eyes filled with warning. “If you don’t want me to have you thrown out, mind your own business.”
Sheng Mingze didn’t speak, his gaze fixed on him, a chilling laugh escaping his throat after a long silence.
“Heh…”
“Mr. Sheng.”
Zhou Yi suddenly stepped forward, bowing respectfully. “It’s almost time, you should go take your seat.”
Sheng Yu nodded, not sparing another glance at the siblings, and took Qiao Shuyi’s hand, leading her towards the venue.
…
Behind them, Sheng Mingze and Sheng Mingwei watched the pair leave, their expressions unreadable.
After a while, Sheng Mingwei spoke slowly. “I never thought we’d have such an unexpected windfall today.”
“I thought Sheng Yu wasn’t interested in women? It seems that’s not the case… Do you know anything about that woman’s background?”
Sheng Mingwei let out a meaningful chuckle. “I know her very well.”
After all, she had saved Sheng Tang from her clutches more than once, and had clashed with her repeatedly.
“Do you think Sheng Yu is serious about her, or just playing around?” Sheng Mingze stroked his chin, a hint of interest in his eyes.
It would be quite amusing to play with Sheng Yu’s woman, wouldn’t it?
Especially a woman with such a feisty spirit.
Sheng Mingwei seemed to see through his thoughts and warned him in a hushed voice. “Before we know if Sheng Yu is serious about her, you better not do anything reckless.”
“Got it.” Sheng Mingze replied nonchalantly. “What about you, are your arrangements all in place?”
“Do you think I’m you? Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.” Sheng Mingwei retorted with a hint of annoyance.
Thinking back to the previous incident, Sheng Mingwei was still fuming.
She had planned for Sheng Yu and that woman to get intimate, but it ended up being Sheng Mingze with the woman.
He was truly useless, good for nothing but messing things up.
…
“What’s wrong?”
Noticing Qiao Shuyi’s absentmindedness, Sheng Yu gently squeezed her hand, asking softly.
Qiao Shuyi paused for a moment, then whispered, “I feel like Sheng Mingze and Sheng Mingwei are up to something, should we have someone keep an eye on them?”
“Zhou Yi has already arranged for someone to watch them.”
Upon hearing this, Qiao Shuyi finally relaxed.
She vaguely remembered Sheng Tang mentioning in her past life that the reporters incident was related to the Sheng family’s side branches.
If she wasn’t mistaken, it was these two…
Sheng Yu had arranged for Qiao Shuyi to sit in the first row, right next to him. On either side were the executives and shareholders of Shengshi Group. Behind them were representatives from various companies, including Ji Xingchuan and his group.
Qiao Shuyi maintained a smile as she greeted everyone, finally settling into her seat.
Sheng Tang and Qiao Shuran arrived just before the annual meeting began, taking their seats in the second row.
Noticing Qiao Shuyi’s gaze, Qiao Shuran waved to her with a smile.
With a “click,” the lights in the venue suddenly went out, plunging the room into darkness.
Two seconds later, the stage lights flickered on, revealing several slender, graceful figures in sexy tank tops and short skirts.
Simultaneously, upbeat, rhythmic music filled the air, and the girls on stage began to dance to the music.
The crowd erupted in gasps and murmurs.
“Holy crap! It’s FineGirls!”
“Shengshi Group really outdid themselves, they actually invited them!”
“My sister loves them, she even flew to H Country to see their concert!”
…
While Qiao Shuyi wasn’t a fan, she had heard of FineGirls.
As the hottest girl group in H Country, FineGirls not only enjoyed immense popularity in H Country, but also had a massive fan base in China, and even worldwide.
Their appearance fees were rumored to be in the eight-figure range, and they weren’t available to just anyone, as their schedule was packed.
Who would have thought that such a top-tier girl group would be performing at a company’s annual meeting?
Shengshi Group really knew how to spend money.
Qiao Shuyi could already imagine the countless mentions of Shengshi Group on Weibo tonight.
The Shengshi Group, they were truly bold.
