Chapter 72: Sheng Yu, You Still Have Me
The annual meeting was coming to an end, and many people had already left.
Sheng Yu also stood up and looked down at Qiao Shuyi, “Qiao Qiao, stay here and wait for me for a while. I have an interview. I’ll take you home after it’s over.”
Interview?
Here it comes!
Qiao Shuyi instantly perked up and stood up as well.
“Sheng Yu!”
The man looked at her.
Qiao Shuyi gritted her teeth, “Can I join you for the interview? I won’t say anything, I’ll just be by your side… can I?”
The man was stunned for a moment, then reached out to touch her head and smiled, “Of course, I’d love for you to be there.”
Qiao Shuyi took his arm, a smile spreading across her lips, “Then let’s go.”
“Okay.”
The interview was held in the rest area to the left of the stage, and a dozen media reporters with cameras were already in place.
As soon as Qiao Shuyi and Sheng Yu arrived, flashes of light went off.
The interview questions had been discussed and screened by Sheng Yu’s staff beforehand, mostly about the development of Shengshi Group.
Sheng Yu answered calmly and fluently, exuding a noble and commanding aura in every move he made.
Qiao Shuyi also kept her promise and quietly played the role of a companion, not saying a word.
Some reporters seemed curious about her, but they didn’t ask any questions.
Until a female reporter smiled and asked, “Is the lady beside you Mr. Sheng’s girlfriend?”
Sheng Yu looked down at Qiao Shuyi and nodded, “Yes.”
Seeing that the man’s expression wasn’t displeased, she dared to continue, “You two look very well-matched. Can I ask how long you’ve been together?”
Sheng Yu thought for a moment, “Over eight years.”
“So long…” The female reporter was surprised for a moment, then a smile spread across her face, “I’m sure your relationship is very strong.”
“Yes, we love each other very much.” The man’s voice was full of laughter, and his eyes softened.
Qiao Shuyi’s cheeks flushed, and she tightened her grip on Sheng Yu’s arm.
“Over eight years? I remember Mr. Sheng’s parents passed away eight or nine years ago.”
A sudden, abrupt male voice rang out, pushing a microphone towards Sheng Yu.
It was a man of average appearance and slightly overweight, wearing black-rimmed glasses. Although he had a smile on his face, the eyes behind the lenses gleamed with a calculating light.
As soon as he spoke, the crowd fell silent for a moment, their expressions turning strange.
It was common knowledge that the death of Sheng Yu’s parents was a taboo subject for him.
Once, a fearless reporter had tried to interview him about his parents’ death, but Sheng Yu had him thrown out.
It was rumored that the reporter was forced to resign from his job the next day.
Not only that, no one had seen him in Beijing since.
Now, another person had come to their death, and everyone was shocked, but they couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
Qiao Shuyi’s heart pounded with alarm, and she instinctively stepped forward, blocking Sheng Yu, her voice cold, “Which media outlet are you from?”
The male reporter ignored her and pointed the microphone directly at Sheng Yu, “Mr. Sheng, I heard you were in the same car with your parents that day? Why did they both die, but you survived?”
Sheng Yu’s face darkened visibly, his eyes cold, and his gaze towards the man was as if he were looking at a dead person.
Qiao Shuyi reached out and took Sheng Yu’s hand, her eyes fixed on the male reporter, her voice firm, “People die every day in this world, why are you still alive?”
The man was clearly taken aback, and he said with a forced smile, “I’m interviewing Mr. Sheng, what’s it to you?”
“His business is my business, do you think it’s none of my business?”
Qiao Shuyi didn’t bother arguing with him, she waved her hand, “Zhou Yi!”
Zhou Yi appeared from somewhere, accompanied by two strong bodyguards, who snatched the equipment from the male reporter and subdued him.
The man struggled and shouted at Sheng Yu, “Mr. Sheng, have you ever had your fortune told? Are you a parent killer…”
“Shut his mouth!” Qiao Shuyi ordered quickly.
The bodyguards reached out to cover the man’s mouth.
He struggled and said his last words, “Will you… also… kill… your wife…”
He was dragged away before he could finish.
Qiao Shuyi breathed a sigh of relief, thankfully she had been cautious and asked Zhou Yi to bring people to hide in the back, ready to come out if anything went wrong.
Soon, the reporters and media dispersed under Zhou Yi’s arrangements.
Only Qiao Shuyi and Sheng Yu remained.
The man’s face was still gloomy, with a coldness that kept people at bay.
Qiao Shuyi felt a pang of sympathy in her heart, she reached out and gently held his hand, “Are you okay?”
Sheng Yu shook his head.
“Don’t listen to that bastard’s nonsense.” Qiao Shuyi reached out and hugged him, her eyes welling up, “It’s all over, don’t think about it. Sheng Yu, you still have me.”
“Mm.” After a long time, the man nodded, reached out to wrap his arms around her waist, and held her tightly in his embrace.
“Brother, what happened?!”
Sheng Tang’s voice suddenly rang out from behind.
Qiao Shuyi didn’t have time to separate from Sheng Yu before she was bumped into by her.
Immediately, “Oh oh~” sounds of teasing rang out in her ears.
Qiao Shuyi quickly stood up from Sheng Yu’s embrace. She then noticed that it wasn’t just Sheng Tang.
There was also Qiao Shuran, Ji Xingchuan, Zhou Huan…
They were all staring at them with gossipy eyes.
