The surroundings suddenly became chaotic.
While Sang Yao was still unaware, the restaurant suddenly became noisy.
Sang Yao’s ears were buzzing.
She couldn’t hear what everyone was arguing about, but the bright red blood on the ground was especially glaring.
She knew she wasn’t injured, but for a moment, she didn’t realize whose blood it was.
Xie Yun still held her tightly.
His grip was strong, and Sang Yao even felt a bit of pain in her waist.
When she came to her senses and looked up at Xie Yun, the man’s face was as cold as ice.
He said sharply, “Go after them!”
Hearing his voice, Sang Yao felt slightly reassured. Because of the shock, her eyes were a little moist.
She gripped Xie Yun’s sleeve tightly, and Xie Yun lowered his head to comfort her softly, “It’s okay.”
Sang Yao suddenly remembered something.
She quickly broke free from his embrace and moved a few steps away from him. Before she could ask, “And you?” she saw the man’s fingers dripping with blood.
She gasped and looked up.
The blood dripped from his wrist, soaking the dark fabric and forming a large gash on his arm.
However, the fabric overlapped, and the blood was not clearly visible on the dark clothing.
Sang Yao couldn’t see how badly he was injured.
Tears instantly filled her eyes and fell.
She bit her lip, her small face wrinkled, tears streaming down silently as she looked at Xie Yun, wanting to speak but unable to find the words.
Xie Yun asked her, “Are you hurt?”
Sang Yao stared at his wound and shook her head, replying softly, “No.”
Xie Yun pulled her back to his side without saying a word.
His heartbeat was fast, and his arm was still trembling uncontrollably.
If he had reacted a little slower just now, he wouldn’t have been able to protect her.
Since entering the court, Xie Yun had been playing a game of power with the imperial authority, balancing the aristocratic families, managing the Xie family’s branches, and handling his official duties.
Everything was squeezed together.
Busy, confident, and methodical, almost every day was like this for him.
He had almost never experienced such emotional ups and downs.
But just now, he saw the white blade looming behind Sang Yao, and in that short moment, he felt fear for the first time in his life.
Even when everything was within his control, he could still be afraid.
After a while, he patted Sang Yao’s back, trying to comfort her and also to relieve himself.
He said to her, “It’s okay.”
Sang Yao was still crying, one tear after another.
She lowered her head, silent, and checked Xie Yun’s body to see if he was injured elsewhere.
Xie Yun held her hand and said, “Let’s go back to the mansion first.”
There weren’t many people in the restaurant, and after the incident, they all scattered.
After a while, they returned to the Xie mansion.
Xie Yun acted as if nothing had happened, still able to comfort her.
It wasn’t until they got back that the layer of clothing on Xie Yun was removed, and Sang Yao could see his wound clearly.
The wound on his forearm was long and blurry, and she dared not look at it more. Normally, even a prick from a needle would hurt her finger, let alone Xie Yun’s current situation.
The tears that had stopped started flowing again, but she dared not speak, afraid of disturbing the doctor’s dressing.
She could only cry and wipe her tears quietly.
Jinglian stood beside Sang Yao, feeling very sorry to see her crying like this.
He couldn’t help but comfort her, “Madam, don’t worry.”
“The young master has not hurt any vital parts. With two days of rest, he will be fine.”
It’s done, just a minor injury.”
He was telling the truth. This time the injury was on his arm, it looked severe, extending from the arm to the wrist, but it wasn’t deep.
He had seen bigger storms before.
When the young master was still on the border, he was much more seriously injured than this.
The man just now mixed in with the crowd, and the young master was eager to act, so he didn’t check thoroughly, which gave the man a chance.
Sang Yao wiped her tears again, complaining in a disgruntled tone, “Even with that, it’s still a minor injury. Jinglian, why are you like this? Don’t you care about him…”
No, why doesn’t he care?
He was telling the truth.
Looking at the young master’s unchanged expression, it was indeed a minor injury!
Forget it, Jinglian closed his mouth silently. What was he arguing with this newlywed couple for?
After the doctor finished dressing the wound, Xie Yun waved to Sang Yao, and she walked over, feeling distressed, and asked softly, “Does it hurt?”
Looking at the girl crying like a kitten, Xie Yun hugged Sang Yao with his other hand and kissed away the tears on her face, teasing, “A little.”
Sang Yao felt even more distressed, but she couldn’t make Xie Yun not feel pain.
She could only say, “It’s all because of Mingrong.”
Xie Yun smiled and said, “I have a way to make it not hurt.”
Sang Yao asked seriously, “What?”
Jinglian, standing aside, thought expressionlessly, what else could he do, of course, it was to kiss him!
Xie Yun said, “You haven’t kissed me at noon.”
He guessed it right!
Jinglian subtly raised his head, his gaze began to wander around, trying to “accidentally” catch a glimpse of them kissing.
But as soon as he glanced up, he met Xie Yun’s cold gaze. Xie Yun’s voice was deep, “Get lost.”
“…I’ll take my leave.”
After Jinglian left, Sang Yao obediently kissed him.
Then she poured him a cup of tea and said obediently, “If you need anything, be sure to tell me.”
“I’m not going out today.”
Xie Yun nodded and said slowly, “You still need to go to deliver the embroidery sample and then visit the embroidery workshop, right?”
“Someone else can deliver it.”
She also told Xie Yun, “By the way, the person who met me just now was Mingrong. She wants me to help her beg you to let her leave the capital.”
Xie Yun nodded, his tone somewhat cold. He said, “There won’t be such things in the future.”
This incident actually had nothing to do with the Ming family on the surface.
Mingrong could still become the Crown Princess, and Lu Li wouldn’t annul the marriage contract with her.
The difference was that initially, Lu Li’s marriage to the Ming family was to win over the Ming family.
But now that Lu Ting had died, with Lu Li holding such a handle, even if Mingrong married into the Lu family, she couldn’t fight for anything for her family.
Instead, it would make the Ming family completely a tool for Lu Li to rise to power.
Lu Li wouldn’t treat her well, and the Ming family would try to find a way to directly get rid of her and let this scandal be over with the marriage.
So Mingrong turned her attention to Sang Yao.
After this incident, even if Xie Yun didn’t want to, he had to rest at home.
The doctor also said before leaving not to overexert himself, but perhaps because of this incident, Xie Yun didn’t feel like doing much in the afternoon.
Even Lu Li came over.
It wasn’t until evening that Xie Yun returned from the study.
Sang Yao had been waiting for him for a long time.
As soon as he entered, Sang Yao thoughtfully brought out a plate of small cakes and placed them on
In front of him, you could distinguish that this time the shape was a small butterfly.
And you could tell that the person who pinched them had tried their best.
Xie Yun was already very familiar with this. He was about to lift his hand when the girl pinched a piece and put it near his mouth.
Xie Yun’s movement paused for a moment, then he took a bite.
Sang Yao sat next to him, her fingertips touching his lips, murmuring, “It may not look much like a butterfly, but… it can only be pinched like this.”
Xie Yun readily agreed, “Although it doesn’t look very good, it tastes great.*
Sang Yao looked at Xie Yun’s arm.
His hands were originally very beautiful, but this time the wound extended all the way to the wrist.
She didn’t know if it would leave a scar in the future.
Xie Yun actually had many ways to prevent her from seeing it, but at the moment, he casually placed his injured hand on the table and never moved it.
It wasn’t until the girl’s eyes showed obvious signs of almost crying again that he said, “It’s really just a minor injury.”
Sang Yao thought to herself, it’s not.
It’s impossible for anyone not to fear pain. This person loves to pretend.
She was scared to death when she was applying the medicine, but he just furrowed his brows slightly and even had the nerve to laugh at her like a kitten.
Although Jinglian also said it was okay, she didn’t want Xie Yun to suffer any harm.
She even thought, if she hadn’t run to him today, what if Xie Yun wasn’t injured in the arm, but somewhere else, what would she do?
Xie Yun asked, “Are you feeling better now? “
Sang Yao didn’t care about this anymore. She said, “I’m not angry.”
Leaning back in his chair, Xie Yun’s lips curled slightly as he said slowly, “You ignored me yesterday, and I’ve been thinking about how to coax you while I was at Minghua Temple today.”
“I didn’t want to snatch your handkerchief, I just really like your butterfly design.”
“Since you’re not giving it to me, just consider me sulking.”
Sang Yao felt a bit embarrassed by his words. She said, “…But you never said you liked butterflies before.”
Xie Yun nodded. His voice was low and floated in the quiet night.
“But I like the butterfly you embroidered.”
When he said the first half of the sentence, Sang Yao felt as if her heart had been enveloped invisibly, then slowly tightened and raised halfway up, and when he finished speaking, she gradually breathed a sigh of relief.
She looked up at Xie Yun slowly.
His face was still handsome. In fact, he hadn’t changed at all, aloof and arrogant.
When he looked at others like this, his eyes were always devoid of emotion, calm, condescending, with a silent oppression as if waiting for judgment.
At first, she would always be afraid.
Later, she didn’t know when, she would only be nervous.
Including now.
She wanted to ask, do you like me?
But then she suddenly felt it was meaningless.
Whether he answered or not, it wouldn’t change the present.
This answer, whether he said it or not, actually made no difference.
Sang Yao turned around and took out the butterfly handkerchief from last night, saying, “I’ll give it to you.”
Xie Yun looked down silently.
After another look, he still wanted it very much.
He said, “Forget about this one, embroider me another butterfly next time.”
After saying that, he added, “Now come and kiss me.”
Sang Yao obediently went over to kiss him. At first, Xie Yun just sat there without moving much, but soon, Sang Yao was picked up and placed on the table by him.
Sang Yao took a deep breath, quickly looked at his hand, and Xie Yun whispered, “It won’t affect it.”
Sang Yao still didn’t want to, she struggled to sit up, and followed the doctor’s advice, “Doctor said not to overexert.”
Xie Yun: “…”
The girl’s clothes were disheveled, revealing a white expanse.
1He watched her straightening her clothes in front of him, and soon, that little mole was covered up.
Xie Yun held her hand, staring at her, and said, “Yao Yao, I have a way.”
Sang Yao: “Ah?”
Xie Yun led her to the bed. He placed his injured arm in front of Sang Yao in a very obvious position, and then said softly, “Actually, a long time ago, I prepared a gift for you, but I haven’t given it to you yet.”
Sang Yao asked, “What is it?”
Xie Yun pointed to the ancient cabinet. Sang Yao walked over and pulled out a flat wooden box.
Under Xie Yun’s gaze, she slowly opened it, revealing a dazzling sight. Blue gemstones were dotted on a delicate chain, somewhat intricate.
Sang Yao had never seen such an intricate chain before. She wasn’t sure, “Is this… a necklace?”
Xie Yun’s expression remained unchanged as he said, “It’s a dress.”
