On the second day in the hospital, Yu Sen was awakened by a fragrant smell in the morning.
Following the scent, he opened his eyes and leaned on the bed, drowsily asking, “What is that?”
Xiao Chen eagerly introduced, “This is fish porridge from Ba Bao Ge, it’s delicious! The fish is fresh, the ingredients are carefully selected, and it’s made with a secret recipe. Every grain of millet is soaked in the broth, one piece of fish with one spoon of porridge is so good you’ll want to eat your tongue. It’s limited every day, no extra sales, and many people queue up at six or seven in the morning just to get a bowl.”
“Oh, so you went to line up at six or seven in the morning?” Yu Sen took a deep breath, the aroma was indeed strong.
Xiao Chen shook his head and grinned mischievously at Yu Sen. “No, the second young master called the owner of Ba Bao Ge to have it specially delivered.”
Looking at Xiao Chen’s gossipy and excited expression, Yu Sen sighed, “Don’t smile like that, you look like a eunuch.”
Xiao Chen: “…”
As Yu Sen held the spoon, he suddenly realized something. “Didn’t I ask him to get me spicy chicken with fish fillets and braised crayfish! He didn’t get either the chicken or the crayfish! And the fish fillets aren’t even spicy! Outrageous! Where is he!?”
“He didn’t come,” Xiao Chen blinked innocently.
“Didn’t come? I’ve become a top-level disabled person for him, and he doesn’t even come,” Yu Sen glared angrily, “Too much! I’m going to call and scold him!”
“Don’t, sir!” Xiao Chen quickly grabbed his hand before he could reach for his phone, “You don’t know? Distance makes the heart fonder!”
“…Wow, kid, you’re quite perceptive? You know about ‘Distance makes the heart fonder.’ Do you even know what my relationship with Si Xuanyang is?”
“Isn’t it that?” Xiao Chen smiled knowingly.
“Which ‘that’? Don’t play riddles with me.”
“An affair!” Xiao Chen said excitedly.
“…”
Yu Sen stared at him in silence, expressionless, though his head was wrapped in bandages, his aura was still present.
Xiao Chen got a little flustered and quickly declared, “Anyway, since the first young master cheated, you and he were originally a pair, so it’s not too unethical for you two to cheat on each other! Besides, I don’t think the second young master minds that much…”
“Which eye of yours saw him not minding?” Yu Sen said unhappily. “He’s extremely jealous, isn’t he?”
“Yes, yes, yes… Of course, he’s jealous. He even called the first young master a scumbag because of you.” Xiao Chen muttered to himself: Though he’s never hesitated to call him that before.
“Sigh,” Yu Sen felt a rare pang of guilt, “Si Nan is pitiful. He’s had to endure so many cold stares from Yang Yang because of this.”
Xiao Chen looked at him incredulously, genuinely thinking this person was quite the oddball. He was heartbroken over the main partner because of the lover’s attitude, even though the main partner had also cheated a long time ago. What was most bizarre was that he didn’t even have a strong reaction to the whole situation.
Truly a strange man!
Xiao Chen hesitated for a moment and tentatively said, “Well… then maybe you should be nicer to the first young master.”
Yu Sen glanced at him. “You make a good point.”
“…”
Xiao Chen left the room to find a doctor, his expression blank. He couldn’t believe this was the thought process of a normal person.
It must have been because of the injury from last night!
For several days, Si Xuanyang didn’t visit the hospital, and under Xiao Chen’s encouragement, Yu Sen also didn’t contact him.
However, the Ba Bao Ge delivered different light meals to the hospital daily. Though they were plain, they were refreshingly delicious. Yu Sen asked about it once, and the person delivering the food replied that it was Si Xuanyang’s order, saying it was to provide meals for the injured person who was accidentally hurt.
At the end, the person delivering the food even smiled and said, “Although being in the hospital isn’t a good thing, being hit by Second Young Master Si and ending up in the hospital is definitely a blessing. Staying in a VIP room for free, with good food and drinks provided, and the compensation is bound to be a hefty sum. You won’t need to work for the rest of your life, sir.”
After speaking, the person even winked and raised his eyebrows at him. “Pretty great, huh?”
“Great, my ass!” Yu Sen gritted his teeth.
So, this is what they call compensation meals! And where’s the compensation money? He hadn’t seen a single cent!
If he wanted to cut ties completely, shouldn’t the compensation be more substantial?
This was just forcing him to keep a connection!
Si Xuanyang, that cunning bastard!
Yu Sen bit the blanket and rolled around on the hospital bed, groaning as if a cat was scratching his heart—itchy, but not painful, leaving him restless.
……
As soon as Si Nan entered the room, he saw Yu Sen wriggling on the bed like a piece of seaweed and twitched at the corner of his mouth. “You better stop that, or you’ll hurt your glass head again!”
“Why are you here?” Yu Sen paused his dizzying movements, looking at Si Nan until he was seeing double.
“I was trying to find you, but your phone was off. I casually asked Yang Yang, and he told me you were in the hospital. You’re not being a good friend, not telling me you’re hospitalized.”
While Si Nan was chattering and complaining, he casually drank the sea cucumber and abalone porridge that the Ba Bao Ge had delivered for Yu Sen.
“Mm, it tastes really good.”
“That’s mine!” Yu Sen glared darkly at the bowl in his hand, his fingers cracking.
“What’s wrong with having some? There’s still a big thermos full! Don’t be so stingy,” Si Nan sneered at him. “Huh, this tastes like it’s from Ba Bao Ge. Since when did they start delivering? And they even use a thermos. How considerate.”
Yu Sen rolled his eyes. “It’s not delivery. Your brother ordered it sent here.”
Si Nan froze for a moment. “Yang Yang? He’s that considerate?”
“Of course. Since he’s the one who hurt me, what’s wrong with providing meals? I still need to ask him for compensation,” Yu Sen said sourly.
“What!?” Si Nan jumped up. “Yang Yang hurt you?”
“Yeah, didn’t he tell you?” Yu Sen looked hurt. “That sneaky little devil, brushing off his mistakes like that. It’s really shameless!”
“Exactly!” Si Nan looked at the thick bandages on Yu Sen’s head, full of guilt. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson and make him take responsibility for your injury.”
“Mm,” Yu Sen muttered, omitting a few words, “You better make sure he takes full responsibility.”
“Absolutely!” Si Nan suddenly became worried again. “But this injury won’t carry over to the clock world, will it? If you have to run and jump around then, it’ll be awful.”
Yu Sen paused. He hadn’t thought about that. Injuries sustained in the clock world wouldn’t start a new cycle until they were healed, but real-world injuries would likely be ignored by the clock.
Otherwise, if someone was injured every day, they’d never have to go back to the clock world.
“There might be some impact,” Yu Sen frowned, “but it’s not too serious. If I’m careful, it should be fine.”
That was what he said, but when the time came, he’d probably be full of complaints.
Three days later, they were once again transported into the clock world.
Yu Sen first felt someone half-supporting him to sit up, followed by a dizzying sensation as his head fell onto a somewhat slim but not narrow shoulder.
He slowly opened his eyes, and Si Xuanyang’s handsome face, which he hadn’t seen in days, appeared before him.
“… Who are you?”
Si Xuanyang: “… If you’re awake, get up. Can you stand?”
“Come on, Yu Ge, let me help you.” Si Nan eagerly ran over.
“Help me with what? I’m not crippled.” Yu Sen slowly stood up, holding onto Si Xuanyang’s arm.
After a moment of being awake, he felt slightly better, though still weak and with a throbbing headache.
Yu Sen touched the back of his head. There were no bandages or wounds.
It seemed the clock had converted his real-world injury into internal weakness. In this state, wasn’t he just a weakling in this world?
“What’s wrong? Still dizzy?” Si Xuanyang noticed him zoning out and hesitated, wanting to wave a finger in front of his face.
“What are you doing? Trying to poke my eye?” Yu Sen looked at him warily.
“…” Si Xuanyang froze for a moment, stared at him for a while, then sneered and walked away.
“Hmph.”
“Wow, Yang Yang still has quite the temper…” Si Nan whispered next to Yu Sen.
“Yeah, and who was it that said they’d help teach him a lesson, only to wimp out when faced with him?”
Si Nan awkwardly smiled and said, “Isn’t it because I’m watching him and he’s quite concerned about you? His gestures are all very careful…”
This was somewhat acceptable. Yu Sen glanced at Si Xuanyang’s indifferent back and clicked his tongue: stubborn as a mule.
This time, they had fallen in a remote area again. When the clock vanished, the three items that appeared were: a Bible, a silver cross, and a light pink chiffon hooded cloak.
The four of them were a bit puzzled.
“What does giving a woman’s outfit at the start mean? Cosplay?” Si Nan asked, scratching his head in confusion.
Luo Yu picked up the task note from the ground and read, “Burn the silver-haired vampire.”
“Wow, a vampire this time!” Yu Sen’s spirits lifted, “It must be very cool.”
Si Xuanyang said, “…Then why are you still waiting? Just offer your neck to him.”
Si Nan felt a jolt in his heart: why did he feel that his younger brother’s tone was off?
Yu Sen snorted several times in a sarcastic manner and said to Si Xuanyang, “Yang Yang, I advise you not to be stubborn, or you’ll regret it when the time comes.”
Si Xuanyang coldly looked at him: “…I was worried for nothing. Your skin is thicker than city walls; it seems like the vampire won’t be able to break through that thick skin of yours.”
“……”
