Clock Trap
Clock Trap chapter 70

The weather at sea during the day was much better than at night: calm winds, warm sunlight, and clear skies.

The pirate ship was much steadier than a small wooden boat, and with almost no waves, those who were not naturally prone to seasickness would generally not be greatly affected.

But Yu Sen was an exception.

His process of getting up was still incredibly difficult, and the reason was simple…

— A fever combined with low blood sugar was simply life-threatening!

When he was woken up, it felt as if his mind were a pot of mush. When he remained still, it was quiet, but when he moved, the mush seemed to spin rapidly like a blender, making his mental state a mess.

After being coaxed and tricked by Si Xuanyang to drink some hot water, his shivering body began to regain some sensation.

Yu Sen’s limbs gradually warmed up but still retained an unshakeable chill. He leaned weakly against Si Xuanyang, not speaking.

“I’ll take you to have breakfast,” Si Xuanyang said, tightening his grip on Yu Sen’s fingers.

Yu Sen whimpered and reluctantly tilted into his embrace. “I don’t want to eat… What could be good to eat in this place? Just the smell makes me want to vomit.”

“Maybe it’s not bad. The ship looks decent, and there’s likely a variety of things the pirates have stolen. It shouldn’t be too bad to eat.” Si Xuanyang said to him softly.

The cabin’s small window let in only faint, flickering light, casting a hazy veil over everything. Yu Sen buried his face in Si Xuanyang’s abdomen, his profile bathed in this dim glow, making him seem less pale and hinting at an indescribable, ambiguous charm. It was like a pure, tranquil and ethereal dream. Sui Xuanyang instinctively tightened his arms, as if letting go would make the dream vanish.

“Ge, you have to eat something…”

Seeing he couldn’t avoid it, Yu Sen sighed and bit down hard on Si Xuanyang’s abdomen. “Then let’s go.”

Si Xuanyang let out a muffled groan as Yu Sen bit him and, with slightly unsteady breathing, lifted him, holding him tightly. “You’d better behave!”

There was a knock at the door, likely Si Nan and Luo Yu returning from washing up. Si Xuanyang opened the door, and Si Nan burst in, patting his chest, his face showing an indescribable complex expression.

“What’s going on?”

“Something happened,” Luo Yu followed in, pointing outside with his chin. “In the room next door, someone died.”

In this place, a death wasn’t that surprising.

“How did they die?” Yu Sen squinted thoughtfully.

“Unknown,” Luo Yu shook his head, his expression a bit subtle. “There were no visible wounds on the body; they were lying on the bed when they died.”

“Internal injuries?” Si Xuanyang pondered. “Maybe there were small wounds.”

Luo Yu made a ‘tch’ sound and said, “The person was found naked, and there were no red liquid traces, but there were some yellowish-white liquid stains.”

Yu Sen was taken aback. Red liquid naturally referred to blood, and the yellowish-white liquid…

He said “Oh” with a meaningful tone, realizing, “They must have had an experience before they died, similar to what happened to me last night.”

Si Xuanyang was startled. “What happened to you last night? Was there danger? How did I not know?”

He recalled the water stain he saw in the middle of the night and his face darkened.

It seemed something was indeed amiss!

“Are you hurt?”

Si Xuanyang protected Yu Sen’s waist, constantly checking him from left to right, worried that there might be injuries he hadn’t noticed.

“Hiss—!” Yu Sen slapped his hand away and glared at him angrily, “I’m still sick, don’t stir things up early in the morning.”

Si Xuanyang: “……”

“Yu Ge, do you know how that person died? Did you encounter him last night?” Luo Yu asked.

“Yes.” Yu Sen’s fingertips slowly slid from Si Xuanyang’s palm, then he held Si Xuanyang’s hand tightly, thoughtfully glancing at the water marks on the ground that hadn’t evaporated yet, and slowly spoke.

—“He must have been bewitched and died in an illusion.”

“An illusion?” Si Xuanyang murmured, his expression changing slightly, his hand suddenly tightening. “Did you enter the illusion last night too?”

Yu Sen nodded, reaching with his other hand to gently scratch Si Xuanyang’s tense hand, softly saying, “Yang Yang, don’t grip so hard. My hand hurts.”

Feeling the pressure on his hand lessen a bit, Yu Sen comforted him in a low voice, “Aren’t I fine now? Even if I went into an illusion, I’m out of it now, right?”

Si Xuanyang frowned and retorted sharply, “You’re not fine; you have a fever.”

“Ugh, after being exposed to the wind at sea all night, with my current weak immune system, it would be weird not to have a fever. Don’t worry.”

Yu Sen wasn’t too concerned about having a fever. He was used to feeling dizzy and weak; being a bit dizzier or weaker didn’t matter.

He was practically the most easygoing patient in history.

He pondered for a while, thinking about the seductive appearance of the androgynous figure from last night, and said, “We’re on a pirate ship, but the things causing trouble don’t look much like pirates… By the way, what did the note say?”

“It said ‘Help the pirates on the Fallen Angel ship find redemption.’” Si Nan said. “The dropped items were also three things: a matchbox, a key, and a short sword.”

“Helping pirates?” Yu Sen was slightly surprised. “Then we should be wary of creatures like the sea demon I encountered last night.”

“Sea demon? Do you mean a mermaid?” Luo Yu asked.

Yu Sen lowered his gaze and thought for a while. If he wasn’t mistaken, the person was definitely a sea creature, looking so attractive, it should be a mermaid. However, he recalled that when he pushed the man to the ground, not only did the muscles in his legs tingle, but his back also deformed somewhat.

Legs were easy to guess—they would turn into a fish tail, but the back… Did mermaids have wings?

If so, calling them sea demons might be more fitting.

“Something like that, but they might also fly.”

“I’ve heard mermaids are very attractive,” Si Nan said curiously, looking at Yu Sen with excitement. “By the way, Yu Ge, did you see what the mermaid looked like? Is it really as beautiful as they say?”

“Hmm…” Yu Sen touched his lips and, amidst Si Xuanyang’s clenched teeth, slowly answered, “Yes, it was very beautiful, and the figure was great, and…”

—“It’s butt was also quite perky.”

“Crack!” Si Xuanyang expressionlessly broke a wooden railing next to Si Nan.
