The squad scattered in all directions to retreat, and Gu Nanfeng was responsible for following and protecting Si Yu. Si Yu still wanted to continue; their mission was halfway done, and retreating now would mean all their previous efforts were in vain.
Gu Nanfeng simply hoisted him up and ran, still spouting off: saying Si Yu, as a guide, lacked strategic foresight, was as delicate as a woman, and even mocked how light he was. In the end, he deliberately taunted, “Maybe that thing below is also small.”
No man could tolerate such words. Qiao Si Yu was furious.
Through the chaotic mental connection, Gu Nanfeng sensed the Si Yu’s emotions and couldn’t resist teasing again: “Even if it’s small, Viagra can still make it work.” Unable to bear it anymore, Si Yu slapped Gu Nanfeng’s face hard, knocking it sideways.
Gu Nanfeng mouth hung crookedly, and saliva dribbled out.
It was a bit pitiful, but mostly funny, especially since this handsome guy suddenly turned into someone with a crooked mouth.
As he tried to snap his dislocated jaw back into place, he slurred out, “Damn, you…”
Si Yu froze, momentarily unsure how to react.
He regretted hitting him so hard, thinking he had gone too far due to his unstable mental condition. But now that he’d already hit him, apologizing would seem insincere.
He didn’t know what to do.
Meanwhile, with pursuers still behind them, Gu Nanfeng was too busy escaping with Si Yu to keep running his mouth.
After several twists and turns, Gu Nanfeng finally managed to get them out of the enemy’s Si Yu’s mental coverage zone. The mission had been to use Si Yu’s abilities to break through the mental defenses the enemy guides had set up. As the key figure in this operation, Qiao Si Yu’s safety was paramount, and he couldn’t afford to take it lightly.
Gu Nanfeng asked, “Any pursuers?”
Qiao Si Yu extended his mental net and quickly replied, “Fifteen: three to the east, seven to the south, five to the west.”
Before this, Gu Nanfeng had been fending off mental attacks from the enemy guides without Si Yu’s protective mental tendrils, and his mental barrier had started to crack. Combined with the fact that he hadn’t been mentally guided for a long time, his mental state was highly unstable. A tough battle awaited, with a dozen enemies after him, making him naturally agitated.
The cougar, his animal spirit was clawing at the ground restlessly, its tail slightly bristling. Si Yu began repairing the Gu Nanfeng’s mental barrier.
Gu Nanfeng, still not holding back, complained, “What do you think you’re doing! I’m telling you, even if I, Gu Nanfeng, go insane, get frenzied, or die on the battlefield, I don’t need your guidance!”
Warm mental tendrils gently smoothed over the cracks in his mental barrier, which soon vanished.
Gu Nanfeng muttered, “…Damn, that feels good.”
The continuous flow of mental energy helped calm his agitated emotions, and the now glossy, refreshed cougar spirit returned to its prime state.
In previous battles, the best he ever had was a mid-level guide. In a squad of about a dozen people, he only received a small share of mental energy, like a traveler in a desert rationing sips from a tiny bottle of water, counting every drop.
Now, it was like he had reached an oasis, where he could drink as much as he wanted, even wash his feet with the water if he felt like it.
Gu Nanfeng, now energized, eagerly awaited the approaching enemies, ready to take them all on without fear.
In the mental space, the sky was clear and bright.
In reality, Gu Nanfeng was slaughtering enemies left and right.
He could clearly predict the enemies’ positions, intercepting their every move based on the slightest body language cues. Just by hearing the wind, he could dodge all incoming attacks.
Even with his heightened senses processing vast amounts of information at once, he didn’t feel the usual urge to go berserk. Someone was managing it all for him, filtering out irrelevant noise, leaving only the critical battle data.
It felt amazing, as if another presence in the world perfectly complemented his own.
Gu Nanfeng was starting to get a little high from it all.
Instead of leading Si Yu to retreat, he teamed up with him to take out all the soldiers chasing them.
But he forgot that the Si Yu’s mental state was unstable due to the previous damage. Prolonged mental contact during battle, coupled with the excitement from the Gu Nanfeng’s heightened emotions, overstimulated Si Yu, triggering the release of his pheromones deep within his consciousness.
When a guide’s mental state becomes unstable, their pheromones can easily go out of control, like an overflow from a safety barrier.
Gu Nanfeng, upon smelling the intense pheromones from Si Yu shouted, “Sedative!”
Qiao Si Yu replied, “In the bag… it’s back on the road.”
Gu Nanfeng face twisted in frustration: “If you speak to me with mental power again, I’ll take it as a sign that you can’t wait to get screwed.”
Si Yufell silent.
When a guide loses control of their pheromones, it’s the sentinels who suffer. Sentinels, with their heightened senses, experience amplified emotions and reactions under the influence of guide pheromones.
Rage, impulse,
And desire.
Gu Nanfeng’s lower body reacted instantly. The mental world he had just repaired now flashed with lightning and thunder again. He bit down hard on his own arm, tasting blood before releasing it.
Not that he could even feel pain at this point, his excitement was so overwhelming.
His mind was filled with Si Yu. He wanted to turn around, tear off Si Yu’s clothes, bite him, possess him.
His mental barrier was on the verge of collapse.
Gu Nanfeng, not daring to delay any longer, hoisted Si Yu and ran, concentrating all his mental energy to strengthen his mental barrier, doing his best to ignore the sensory overload—though with little success.
On his shoulder, Si Yu’s stomach was soft yet firm, probably from some muscle definition.
Si Yu’s breathing tickled the his ears, making them itch.
Taking a deep breath, Gu Nanfeng inhaled the sweet scent of the guide’s pheromones. How could someone smell this good?
Gu Nanfeng was going crazy with desire, wanting to bite himself again.
He was so distracted that he didn’t even notice that his grip on the Si Yu’s legs had left bruises.
Qiao Si Yu wanted to remind him but was too afraid to communicate mentally. As he lay on Gu Nanfeng’s back, his face flushed from the overwhelming scent of the Gu Nanfeng’s responding pheromones.
By the time they reached a safe supply point, both of them were drenched in sweat, more so than when they had been fighting ten men earlier. Especially Gu Nanfeng, whose muscles were taut, his combat suit soaked through.
Panting, Gu Nanfeng rummaged through the supplies and gave Si Yu a shot of sedative.
Had they been a second or two later, he might have started gnawing on the Si Yu’s neck.
