The needle was jabbed carelessly into Si Yu’s thigh, and Gu Nanfeng naturally noticed the bulge in Si Yu’s groin. He glanced down and compared, then snarked, “As expected, not as big as mine.”
Si Yu glared at him with round, black, moist eyes, slightly reddened, making him look especially tempting.
Gu Nanfeng: “You’re seducing me!”
Si Yu: “???”
Gu Nanfeng awkwardly turned his head, cleared his throat, and said, “Stop throwing seductive looks. Close your eyes.”
Si Yu: “…”
Si Yu lowered his head and pulled out the needle after the injection was finished.
Something seemed off to Gu Nanfeng. After teasing Si Yu so many times, this was the first time he saw such a reaction.
Gu Nanfeng: “Why aren’t you hitting me?”
Si Yu ignored him.
Gu Nanfeng thought for a moment and guessed, “So you know you went too far by slapping me last time, huh?”
Si Yu felt a bit guilty. He had indeed hit too hard last time and was now at a loss for what to do.
But Gu Nanfeng didn’t think too much about it. His mouth had always been reckless. Living with a bunch of single, irritable sentinels, getting into verbal fights that escalated into physical brawls was completely normal. Fighting was just part of life. The only reason the first time Si Yu hit him bothered him was because it was in front of their superiors, and Si Yu was a guide, which made him feel embarrassed.
After all, he was the king of the battlefield, and all the cute little guides adored him. They couldn’t wait for him to flirt with them. Except for this guy. He didn’t like it. And if he didn’t like it, he should just say so! But slapping him in the face? That was too much!
This was how Gu Nanfeng saw it. He never reflected on the fact that Si Yu had actually warned him.
Now that Si Yu felt guilty, He took advantage of the situation, swaggering, “What’s so hard about saying sorry? Your mouth made of gold or something?”
Si Yu moved his lips and mouthed, “I’m sorry.”
Gu Nanfeng: “Forget it. I won’t bully a mute. Let’s put it behind us. But next time, don’t keep slapping my face. If you’re not happy with something, just fight me directly. Don’t act like a woman slapping faces all the time.”
Si Yu, trying to change the topic, asked, “What about the others?”
Gu Nanfeng pressed the communication device’s safe signal: “We got separated, but they’re safe. Let’s head back.”
On the way back, Gu Nanfeng noticed Si Yu was moving more slowly and his walking seemed off. He asked, “Are your legs hurt?”
Si Yu: “I’m fine.”
Gu Nanfeng hated it when people tried to hide their injuries only for it to become a problem at critical moments. He walked over, lifted Si Yu’s pant leg, and saw the bruises on his calf. Only then did he realize it was his own fault from earlier.
Gu Nanfeng thought, “Such delicate skin.”
Not wanting to waste time, he forcibly carried Si Yu on his back and started scolding him: “I don’t recall tying your hands. You could’ve tapped my shoulder to remind me, couldn’t you? Even if you’re mute, you could’ve made some kind of sound, right?”
Then he muttered under his breath, “Not even a sound… Who’d want to sleep with you?”
Si Yu closed his eyes, trying to suppress the urge to beat him up.
Seeing Si Yu remain silent and not hit him, Gu Nanfeng got even bolder, spouting off all the way back.
Gu Nanfeng: “I’m telling you, you guides have no self-awareness. You’re already in the early stages of bonding heat, and you’re still throwing seductive looks? Do you not realize you’re walking pheromone bait? And you just casually lose your sedative? Was that on purpose?”
Gu Nanfeng: “…”
Gu Nanfeng: “Once you’ve had the shot, you just sit tight and wait for the heat to pass. Is that so hard? You think just because your mental strength is high, you’re all that? The moment your pheromones are released, nobody cares how good-looking you are. They’ll all think you’re a goddess. But honestly, I think your eyes are too small. Not really my type.”
Si Yu: “…”
Gu Nanfeng: “But with my self-control, nothing’s going to happen. Anyone else though, who knows? If something did happen, you’d be the one profiting. I’ve measured myself—nineteen inches. Jealous?”
Si Yu: “…”
Gu Nanfeng: “In the end, it’s me who loses out. If something did happen, you’d enjoy it way more than me, and then you’d turn around and accuse me of assault. Sentinels really get the short end of the stick.”
Si Yu trembled with anger.
Gu Nanfeng, pleased with how speechless he’d made Si Yu, kept gloating. When they reached the camp, Gu Nanfeng put Si Yu down and was about to rub his victory in when a wave of mental tendrils hit his face.
Gu Nanfeng: “Damn it! Why do you always go for the face? That’s so feminine!”
The mental tendrils hesitated, then redirected themselves.
As they arrived back at the camp, soldiers came to greet them, and Gu Nanfeng’s head was bobbing up and down from the force of Si Yu’s mental tendrils, like a ball with no resistance.
This time, Gu Nanfeng’s and Si Yu’s mission was top secret. While they were out, five other action teams had gone out at the same time to cover for them. However, according to reports, only their group had been ambushed, indicating there was a mole who had leaked the mission details.
The camp was locked down, and all personnel were on standby, unable to leave.
In this tense atmosphere, the news that the Gu Nanfeng had been used as a human punching bag by Si Yu spread like wildfire. It became the base’s source of amusement. Everyone who saw Gu Nanfeng would tease him with, “Did you get your head smacked flat today?”
Gu Nanfeng, enraged, went around looking for fights. His cougar spirit, affected by his mood, became restless and aggressive.
In the end, Gu Nanfeng had to be put in solitary confinement to calm down.
Having been ridiculed so much, Gu Nanfeng stopped strutting around the training grounds. He sulked alone in his dorm, accompanied only by his cougar spirit.
It was a pitiful sight.
One day, while doing upside-down sit-ups from the bed railing, he heard a sound from outside. A bat, about the size of a piglet, was hovering outside his window.
The cougar curiously flicked its tail.
After realizing it had been spotted, the bat shamelessly stuck itself to the window, its eyes hungrily fixed on a red apple on the table. It looked like a little foodie.
Gu Nanfeng grabbed the apple and, under the bat’s envious gaze, took a big bite, devouring half of it in one go.
The bat looked like it was about to cry.
Gu Nanfeng finding it amusing, opened the window and placed the remaining half of the apple in front of the bat, coaxing it to eat.
The bat’s eating habits weren’t exactly pleasant to watch, but its round, black eyes darting around gave it a strangely adorable charm. After watching for a while, Gu Nanfeng decided it was kind of cute.
After finishing the apple, the bat put on a little flying performance as a thank-you and then flew off.
