Lin Zhengping, who had been kicked out, refused to give up. He had his family find a place to stay while he waited outside the club for Guo Shicong to emerge.
At this point, Lin Wanwan had blocked all his escape routes. If he wanted to kill her and seize control of Shengshi Group, he had to rely on Guo Shicong’s help.
He was absolutely certain that Guo Shicong would assist him.
The reason was simple: Old Master Guo had an illegitimate son outside the family, one who outshone Guo Shicong in every way. The old man had publicly declared more than once that he intended to hand over the Guo Corporation to this illegitimate son.
Two tigers cannot share one mountain—if the Guo family fortune fell into the hands of this outsider, Guo Shicong’s fate would be unimaginable. Only by cooperating with Lin Zhengping could Guo Shicong secure his own future. Once Lin Zhengping solidified his position as the CEO of Shengshi Group, he could help Guo Shicong seize the Guo family’s assets.
Like a stray dog, Lin Zhengping waited outside until nightfall before he finally saw Guo Shicong step out of the club with a woman in his arms. He quickly strode forward and blocked his path.
Guo Shicong, under strict orders from his father, immediately took two steps back, afraid of being entangled by Lin Zhengping.
“Lin Zhengping, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but President Lin has made her stance clear. I can’t afford to offend her for your sake.”
The disdain on Guo Shicong’s face stung Lin Zhengping’s pride. Clenching his fists, he forced himself to speak calmly. “I have something important to discuss with you—about the Guo family heir.”
The usually carefree Guo Shicong instantly stiffened. He kissed the woman in his arms, then pulled out a gold credit card from his pocket.
“Sweetheart, go buy yourself something nice. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”
“Guo Shao, you promised! You’d better come find me tomorrow,” the woman cooed, blushing as she clutched the card before walking away.
Guo Shicong took Lin Zhengping to his private villa, a place where only the cleaning staff came regularly—no one else.
“Lin Zhengping, what do you want to say?”
“What if I told you I could help you secure the position of Guo Corporation’s true successor? How would you thank me?”
“Lin Zhengping, are you joking? The whole of Haicheng knows you’ve been thrown out by President Lin. Help me? With what?”
“You won’t know unless you try. Or would you rather watch that illegitimate bastard take your place, seize control of Guo Corporation, and then kick you out of the family? I’ve heard your father has been considering retirement lately.”
Guo Shicong’s expression darkened as his insecurities were laid bare. Irritated, he pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Nothing in this world is free. So tell me—what do you want from me?” Guo Shicong didn’t believe Lin Zhengping would help him out of kindness.
“I need you to help me get rid of that bitch, Lin Wanwan.”
“Lin Zhengping, have you lost your mind? If you want to die, don’t drag me down with you! I’m not ready to throw my life away yet.”
Guo Shicong stared at him in disbelief. Though he was a playboy who loved to have fun, he never broke the law.
Murder? He hadn’t even killed a chicken before.
Not to mention, the person Lin Zhengping wanted to kill was none other than Lin Wanwan, the infamous “Ice Queen of the Business World.”
Lin Wanwan was ruthless and decisive. In her early years, anyone foolish enough to cross her ended up bankrupt—like that one guy who was still stuck mining in Country F, unable to return to this day.
Guo Shicong had no desire to become the second person exiled to Country F to dig for mines.
“I’m not crazy—I’m perfectly clear-headed. All you need to do is tamper with the Rolls-Royce that Lin Wanwan usually drives. I’ll handle the rest.” Lin Zhengping paused for a few seconds before continuing, “Once I secure my position as CEO of Shengshi Group, I’ll help you deal with that illegitimate bastard.”
“Don’t even think about it. I’m not agreeing to this.”
“So you’d rather spend the rest of your life being overshadowed by that lowborn bastard? Let him walk all over you and steal everything that should rightfully be yours?”
Guo Shicong’s expression wavered. After a long internal struggle, he finally agreed to cooperate with Lin Zhengping.
Lin Zhengping grinned triumphantly, as if Shengshi Group was already in his grasp.
“Guo Shicong, we’re in this together now. You wouldn’t leave me out on the streets, would you?”
The words struck a chord with Guo Shicong, who immediately put on a warm facade. “You can stay in this villa for now. Just don’t forget your promise once everything’s settled.”
“Relax. When have I ever gone back on my word with you?”
Before long, Guo Shicong handed Lin Zhengping one of his gold credit cards and excused himself.
With money in hand, Lin Zhengping first bought himself the latest iPhone, then called his biological parents to treat them to a lavish meal at a high-end restaurant before going on a shopping spree at a luxury mall.
Meanwhile, Guo Shicong had already taken a recording to Lin Wanwan.
After listening to the recording, Lin Wanwan’s face darkened to an alarming degree.
“I underestimated that fool. He actually thought he could use someone else’s hand to kill me? Too bad he doesn’t have the brains to pull it off.”
Aunt Wang, however, was furious. “If it weren’t for you, Miss, he would’ve frozen to death in the snow years ago! And now, instead of being grateful, he wants to murder you? That ungrateful wretch! People like him deserve to boil in hell!”
Lin Wanwan, worried that the elderly woman would make herself sick with rage, quickly reassured her. “Aunt Wang, don’t upset yourself. I’m fine.”
“But it’s not fair to you! How could that beast treat you like this? You raised him all these years—even if you didn’t give him life, you gave him everything else!”
“Consider it all wasted on a dog.”
At least a dog would wag its tail for its owner. But that white-eyed wolf? Thinking about it only brought pain.
Within moments, Lin Wanwan had already decided how to deal with that piece of trash.
She had always been one to repay every slight tenfold. If she didn’t want someone to win, they wouldn’t get so much as a scrap from her.
Guo Shicong, sitting across from her, was unnerved by her icy demeanor and hurried to distance himself.
“Aunt Lin—” Realizing his mistake, he quickly corrected himself, “I mean, President Lin! It was Lin Zhengping who came to me! I would never dream of harming you!”
Seeing the young man on the verge of tears, Lin Wanwan softened her expression.
“Shicong, I owe you for this. Guo Zhengye, that old fox, actually raised a decent son for once.”
Praise made Guo Shicong blush.
For the first time, he realized that the so-called “Ice Queen of the Business World” wasn’t as terrifying as rumors made her out to be.
In fact… she was kind of gentle.
