55. Let’s talk about love.
Xu Yuanzhe looked at Yu Yue without saying a word.
Five years ago, in this very place, at the table by the bathroom door, Yu Yue mentioned wanting to talk to Xu Yuanzhe, feeling like Xu Yuanzhe might not like him as much anymore.
And now, five years later…
Yu Yue also leaned against the table, gazing at Xu Yuanzhe.
“I want to talk to you,” after a moment of silence, Yu Yue suddenly spoke, his voice soft.
Xu Yuanzhe stood there.
Even though he was no longer the sensitive and insecure teenager from back then, having gained many things, when he heard Yu Yue say these words, the fingers hanging by his side involuntarily curled up a bit, slowly tightening.
Yu Yue noticed it all.
“What do you want to talk about?” Xu Yuanzhe asked in a low voice.
“Talk…” Yu Yue blinked, intentionally staying silent for a moment, looking at Xu Yuanzhe’s shallow black eyes. After a while, he said, “Let’s talk about love.”
A smile tugged at the corners of Xu Yuanzhe’s lips.
His brows and eyes softened, warmer than sunlight.
Xu Yuanzhe approached, pulled Yu Yue into his arms, ran his fingers gently through his hair, and lowered his head, burying his face in the crook of Yu Yue’s neck. His voice was slightly hoarse, “Don’t scare me.”
Soon, Yu Yue moved into this home.
The home was small, unable to fit too many things, and Yu Yue didn’t bring much photography equipment. He brought a computer for work and the small camera he used to take pictures of Xu Yuanzhe.
The rest were just some daily necessities.
As Yu Yue sat on the coffee table, editing footage, he looked up and saw Xu Yuanzhe tidying up the things he brought.
He saw Xu Yuanzhe placing his toothbrush cup in the bathroom, next to his own.
Two toothbrush cups side by side.
In a moment of distraction, when he refocused, he missed a few shots.
Yu Yue rewound the progress bar.
After finishing tidying up, Xu Yuanzhe returned to sit beside Yu Yue.
Yu Yue sat on the floor, and Xu Yuanzhe sat on the sofa.
Seeing Yu Yue working and not wanting to disturb him, Xu Yuanzhe put on a pair of glasses, leaned back on the sofa, and used a tablet to read the script Yu Yue sent him yesterday.
When Yu Yue started working, he would block out the entire world.
He spent two hours editing a single video.
During breaks, his neck would ache.
Yu Yue was about to massage his own neck when a hand reached out from behind.
The hand was warm and strong, pressing on his neck like giving a cat a massage, with gentle movements.
Yu Yue looked up.
Xu Yuanzhe supported his chin, wearing reading glasses, and slightly bent one leg with a tablet on his knee. He had marked the lines in the script with different colored pens.
Yu Yue looked at Xu Yuanzhe for a long time.
He felt like he was dreaming, working and seeing Xu Yuanzhe beside him.
After a long silence, Yu Yue said to Xu Yuanzhe, “I want to have braised pork ribs tonight.”
Xu Yuanzhe replied, “Sure.”
After a while, Yu Yue said again, “I want to have hot pot tomorrow, the one I make myself.”
Xu Yuanzhe agreed.
“The day after tomorrow…” Yu Yue thought for a long time. Finally, he smiled at Xu Yuanzhe and said, “The day after tomorrow, I’ll make a small cake for you…”
Before he could finish his sentence, a shadow had already fallen.
Yu Yue fell silent.
Xu Yuanzhe bent down and kissed Yu Yue on the lips.
He was restrained yet gentle, his voice low and hoarse, “I can make a small cake too; I’ve learned how.”
