Chapter 4: A First Glance at Qin Ling Could Be Life-Changing
During this meal, Jiang Yichen felt extremely anxious.
After finishing their meal, he quickly grabbed Jiang Suihua and made a run for it.
It was still September, and the sky was getting dark.
The setting sun cast a warm glow on Jiang Yichen.
He observed the first-year students bustling about, all smiles and laughter with their friends.
However, his mood was in stark contrast, having plummeted to rock bottom.
His little butterfly wings had stirred up quite a storm…
The only good thing was that his sister Jiang Suihua should be safe now.
“Xiao Yi, let me walk you to the school infirmary,” she offered.
“No need, sis. You should go back to your dorm and rest. Remember what I told you: stay away from Professor Qin,” Jiang Yichen urged.
Jiang Suihua looked puzzled. “Why? Xiao Yi? I don’t understand. I just saw Professor Qin… she seemed nice. Why do you want me to stay away from her? And do you even know her?”
“Some things can’t be judged just by appearances, sis. Just trust me on this,” Jiang Yichen insisted.
Jiang Suihua rolled her eyes. “What’s the reason? You can’t just say that! I bet you don’t even know her; otherwise, why would you be asking others about her name?”
Jiang Yichen replied seriously, “Just trust me, sis. Avoid her whenever you see her from now on.”
Jiang Suihua sighed helplessly. “Xiao Yi, I think you should focus on yourself right now. I suspect Professor Qin heard you calling her a sickly, bloodsucking crazy person in the milk tea shop. You should find a chance to apologize to her in person.”
Jiang Yichen: “…”
Apologize in person?
Forget it, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to return…
Maybe I should just test the waters on WeChat… and see if I need to make a run for it.
After all, it was just the start of the semester; I should be able to withdraw most of my tuition. At worst, I could just repeat a year.
Do you think that’s excessive?
Jiang Yichen could confidently say, “Absolutely, very much so!”
Professor Qin’s first personality was fine, just a bit aloof, but her second personality—if the first held a grudge, even a passing dog would get slapped.
“Hey, sis, how about we go back and repeat a year?”
“?” Jiang Suihua raised her hand and pressed it against Jiang Yichen’s forehead. “You’re not running a fever…”
“Ah, forget it. Just go back to your dorm,” he said, stopping in front of the girls’ dormitory. Jiang Suihua didn’t move, switching her hand to check his forehead again. “You really don’t have a fever…”
“I’m fine, sis, just joking,” Jiang Yichen said with a forced smile.
“Alright then, Xiao Yi, I’ll head back. Remember to sleep early tonight and don’t stay up late,” Jiang Suihua said, looking back as she walked away.
Jiang Yichen stood still, waiting until Jiang Suihua entered the building before he turned to leave.
…….
In the small cafeteria.
Lin Yao slurped her noodles while gazing at the flawless face of the woman across from her.
Sometimes, it felt like the Creator was biased—how could someone look so beautiful even while eating?
“Hey, Lingling, I specifically asked the boss for a bowl of cilantro for you,” Lin Yao pushed a small bowl filled with cilantro towards her.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, she didn’t understand how anyone could enjoy that; it made her want to vomit.
After that, Lin Yao also pushed the vinegar bottle toward Qin Ling. “And this vinegar too.”
“Thank you,” Qin Ling said, taking the small vinegar bottle and swirling it around, adding it to her noodles before generously pouring in all the cilantro.
Lin Yao couldn’t help but wince… that was definitely a strong preference…
“Lingling, do you think that boy was infatuated with you at first sight? He kept asking me about your age and birthday…”
“I don’t know,” Qin Ling replied. Whether Jiang Yichen was infatuated with her, she wasn’t sure, but she knew he had significant misunderstandings and biases against her.
Sickly, bloodsucking crazy? Second personality?
In her twenty-seven years of life, it was the first time she had heard someone describe her like that.
But clearly, he must have watched some unhealthy things to associate her with a character from a novel.
How ridiculous.
“Tsk, tsk, Lingling, back when we were in school, there were probably hundreds of boys who had crushes on you. I bet that Jiang Yichen is just like that, and he’s probably not the only one. There are likely many more today…”
Lin Yao reminisced. Back in university, her friend was the only campus beauty, a standout from freshman to senior year.
However, after Qin Ling entered university, she became the unified campus beauty titleholder.
“A first glance at Qin Ling could be life-changing.”
This saying had spread throughout the campus, indicating Qin Ling’s allure.
Now, things were even more different—this youthful beauty had returned from studying abroad.
She exuded the qualities of a mature woman, with her figure and face likely mesmerizing anyone.
Lin Yao doubted whether the students attending class with Qin Ling could even focus.
“By the way, what do you think of that boy from earlier? He’s the new campus heartthrob,” Lin Yao teased.
“Just a kid,” Qin Ling replied.
A kid who likes to watch inappropriate things.
“A kid?” Lin Yao laughed. “He’s at least eighteen, an adult; how can you call him a kid?”
“I’m nine years older than him. When I was eighteen, he was still in elementary school. When I was in middle school, he was probably still in kindergarten wearing open-crotch pants. Isn’t that a kid?”
“That may be true,” Lin Yao said, her curiosity piqued. “But… you’re twenty-seven now. Aren’t you anxious? Isn’t your family urging you to find a boyfriend?”
“Boring,” Qin Ling said, not wanting to continue the conversation. She elegantly took a tissue to wipe her mouth and stood up to leave.
Just as she got up, a boy approached her, holding his phone, looking shy. “Hi, um… can I add you on WeChat?”
Qin Ling looked him over; he was decent-looking, but he couldn’t compare to that boy who liked to watch inappropriate things.
“Not convenient.”
She tossed out the three words lightly and walked past him.
Her leaving figure was graceful, but the lingering sandalwood scent made the boy’s face flush.
“Hey,” Lin Yao stood up, glancing sympathetically at the boy.
Back in college, Qin Ling had initially given her WeChat ID to avoid hurting feelings, but she never accepted anyone afterward.
As the number of requests grew, she gradually became tired of it and simply refused.
But even so, that didn’t stop many from approaching her.
“Hey, wait for me!” Lin Yao chased after her. “So, Lingling, are you planning on being single forever? Should I introduce you to some quality candidates?”
Qin Ling rolled her eyes discreetly. “No need.”
Over the past two years, she had received many so-called “quality candidates” that Lin Yao had recommended.
She could only describe them as “strange and unappealing.”
