Chapter 60: Let’s Talk About Love After I Wake Up
Jiang Yaoyao’s delicate face was turning an increasingly suspicious shade of red.
The devastatingly handsome man lowered his eyes slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“Aren’t you supposed to be taking your medicine? What’s my baby thinking about?”
Jiang Yaoyao jolted back to reality.
Without even properly looking at the white pill in her hand, she quickly picked it up with her soft fingers and popped it into her mouth. Then, she grabbed the glass and gulped down two big mouthfuls of water.
After swallowing the pill, she looked up to find the amusement in the man’s eyes deepening. He continued coaxing her into finishing her breakfast.
Jiang Yaoyao had never imagined that the cold-faced villain from the original novel, who always carried the expression of a human refrigerator, could be so skilled at romance.
It was as if he had mastered it effortlessly, without any guidance.
Even eating had become an affair where he insisted on holding her in his arms, feeding her bite by bite.
He seemed to know exactly what she liked and disliked, even how much food her stomach could hold.
By the time she managed to eat an extra little wonton and was rewarded with a deep-voiced compliment for being a good girl, her entire face was already burning beyond recognition.
Her delicate fingers clutched at his collar, her voice soft and sweet.
“I’m done eating.”
“Pei Heng, I want to sleep now.”
After last night’s endless torment, rushing back this morning, and then being held and kissed repeatedly, her whole body felt like it had turned into jelly.
The flushed little beauty sat on the man’s lap, her voice gentle as she tried to shoo him away.
“Pei Heng, hurry and go to work. Isn’t this around the time you usually leave? Aren’t you a career-driven man?”
The man’s stunningly handsome face drew closer, his voice dripping with indulgence and affection, deep and sultry.
“There’s nothing to worry about. The money I’ve made over the years is enough for Yaoyao to spend recklessly for ten lifetimes.”
He gently tapped her soft little face.
“But, does my baby like career-driven men? If I stop working hard, will Yaoyao not like me anymore?”
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, as if determined to get an answer.
Jiang Yaoyao’s face grew even redder. In a tiny voice, she answered, “I do.”
Everything that had happened from last night until now felt completely surreal.
One moment, she and Pei Heng were just good friends, and in the blink of an eye, they had somehow become lovers. She wasn’t used to it at all.
Even uttering a simple “I like you” seemed to drain every ounce of her strength.
She fluttered her long lashes and wriggled off his lap, grabbing his sleeve and pushing him all the way toward the door.
“I’m really sleepy, Pei Heng.”
“This time, I really need to sleep.”
“As for our relationship… let’s talk about it after I wake up.”
Pei Heng chuckled at her words, letting her push him to the door.
Just before stepping out, he spread his arms and lowered his gaze, looking at the soft-cheeked beauty before him. His eyes gleamed like a galaxy of stars.
Jiang Yaoyao felt her heart grow warm under his intense gaze.
Obediently, she took a small step forward and tucked herself into his embrace.
Strong, steady arms wrapped around her, filling her with an overwhelming sense of security. The cool, fresh scent of the man enveloped her, gradually seeping into her senses.
The tall man lowered his head slightly, the bridge of his high nose barely brushing against the soft skin of her neck. His deep voice was husky, laced with a hint of rasp.
“Good morning, wife.”
Jiang Yaoyao didn’t know how she Managed to see him out.
Jiang Yaoyao wasn’t even sure how she had managed to dizzily send Pei Heng out the door.
After he left, the apartment fell back into silence.
She burrowed under the blankets, her small figure forming a little hill beneath the soft layers of milk-blue fabric.
She had said she wanted to sleep, and she did close her eyes.
But Pei Heng’s deep and gentle voice still lingered in her ears, threading through her thoughts like a soft melody—calling her “baby” one moment and “wife” the next.
Even with her eyes shut, the sound of his voice made her heart tremble uncontrollably.
She patted her chest, trying to calm her racing heartbeat. After forcing herself to drink several sips of water, she finally settled down.
Slowly, she drifted into sleep.
—
At the Spacious Villa
Yan Leyao’s face burned red from the slap.
She looked disheveled, like a madwoman—her hair a wild mess, smudged lipstick staining her face.
The man who had held her gently just the night before, Wei Mingsheng, now stared at her with pure disgust.
“Disgusting!”
“Yan Leyao, you really have no shame!”
“Fuck! You slept with me, then went and slept with my uncle? Do you take me for a fool?”
Wei Mingsheng was furious. Yan Leyao sobbed uncontrollably.
She had reached out to Cen Zhirou this time to get close to Wei Mingsheng, hoping to ride his influence and reestablish herself in the industry.
Otherwise, with her current tarnished reputation, there was no way she’d get any resources.
Last night, she had indeed set her sights on the refined and elegant Pei Linhai.
But the moment she laid eyes on Pei Heng, she immediately changed her mind.
How could the aging Pei Linhai compare to his young and promising son?
Besides, she had witnessed firsthand the strange behavior of the banquet’s hostess, Wei Rou, and saw Pei Heng drink that glass of wine.
Yan Leyao made up her mind and secretly followed them.
She even took a few sneaky photos of Jiang Yaoyao and Pei Heng together and posted them online using a small anonymous account.
But for some reason, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in the back of her head.
When she woke up again, her clothes were completely gone.
Dragged out of the room alongside her were several other women, all dressed provocatively.
Not long after, Wei Mingsheng stormed in, livid with rage, and slapped her across the face.
He called her a “cheap whore” and “shameless.”
Yan Leyao’s once delicate and pretty face was now red and swollen, utterly unrecognizable.
She tried multiple times to explain herself through her sobs, but Wei Mingsheng showed no mercy, kicking her aside without hesitation.
“You think I don’t know what kind of woman you are, Yan Leyao?”
“You’ve been used up and thrown away. Do you really think you’re something special? Still pretending to be pure and innocent?”
Wei Mingsheng looked at her with utter contempt.
“There’s no place for you here. Get lost!”
Yan Leyao’s body stiffened.
She couldn’t leave.
If she lost Wei Mingsheng before finding another backer, she’d fall right back into the pit where anyone could trample her.
All those people she had once looked down on, humiliated, and bullied would come back for revenge tenfold.
And that Wei Rou—she wouldn’t let her go either!
Enduring both the physical pain and the disgust in her heart, Yan Leyao once again clung to Wei Mingsheng’s leg, her voice sickly sweet like before.
“Mr. Wei~”
Just as her voice turned coy, the man she was clinging to suddenly answered a call and shot up from his seat.
“What?”
Whatever the person on the other end said made Wei Mingsheng’s fist clench tightly, his face showing a trace of panic.
He didn’t even spare a glance at the nuisance clinging to his leg, instead urgently asking,
“Where are they now?”
“How is my aunt? Did she manage to keep the baby?”
“And…”
Wei Mingsheng hesitated, his whole body tensing up.
“Does Pei Linhai… know the child isn’t his?”
