In the early morning, the heavy rain finally stopped, and a serene light blue color shone through the sky, it was incredibly beautiful.
Last night, An Yuci and Fang Jiayue chatted late into the night. Until now, Fang Jiayue is still sleeping.
At this moment, An Yuci is sitting by the window, looking down at the information on the paper that Fang Jiayue provided him with detailed information about Zhang Fumin, including his preferences, habits, workplace, lifestyle, even his physical condition.
He carefully read the paper twice, making sure he remembered every detail.
An Yuci took out a lighter and burned the paper to ashes.
Then he took out a spare phone with more than a dozen unanswered messages on the message board. He read through them one by one expressionlessly.
“I received a call from the police…”
“It seems like the police are looking for me, what should I do now?”
The police acted faster than he expected, and he had to take action.
But before that, he had something he must do.
An Yuci dialed a number: “Hello, is it Gu Ruoruo?”
The other party hesitated for a moment and answered, “Dr. An.”
“It’s time to fulfill the promise you made.”
A woman’s nervous voice came from the other end of the phone: “What…what should I do?”
An Yuci narrowed his eyes slightly: “Don’t worry, it won’t be complicated. Let’s meet.”
At half past eleven in the morning, Zhang Fumin was holding a tray, ready to take a seat in a small restaurant. This was a fast food restaurant near his company, which didn’t have a canteen, but gave employees a card that allowed them to order any dish they wanted with a 500 yuan allowance every month.
Although the place was small, the dishes were quite delicious.
Zhang Fumin was about to sit down when he saw a woman in a short skirt walking towards him directly from the opposite direction.
The woman seemed to accidentally touch his tray, and Zhang Fumin was unable to dodge, and a bowl of soup on it spilled out most of it.
Zhang Fumin was about to burst into anger and curse, but the woman apologized first: “I’m sorry, sir. I really didn’t mean to.”
While she helped Zhang Fumin wipe the tray with a tissue, she apologized, “It’s all my fault, I’m really sorry, sir. Let me treat you to a bowl of soup.”
“Oh, never mind…” Zhang Fumin couldn’t bring himself to say the curse words he had prepared when he saw her apologize.
He finally got a clear look at the woman in front of him. She was thin and had a great figure. Her eyes were almond-shaped, making her a standard beauty. Zhang Fumin was just about to say something when the woman ran to the front desk to order.
Since the other party was so proactive, Zhang Fumin didn’t feel like saying anything more. He sat in his seat, looking at the woman’s back through a partition, and felt like he was having a stroke of luck today, thinking about how he could get the woman’s WeChat contact.
Ten minutes later, the woman brought him a serving of ginseng chicken soup, which was much more expensive than the previous soup he had.
“I’m really sorry about this. The previous soup wasn’t worth much. What’s your WeChat? Or I could just transfer the money to you as if I ordered it myself,” Zhang Fumin said as he received the soup.
The woman blushed and seemed a bit nervous. “I just started working here. If we are destined to meet, we will see each other every day from now on,” she said.
After she finished speaking, the woman ran away like a rabbit.
Zhang Fumin watched her leave and savored the encounter of the day. The unhappiness caused by Fang Jiayue the night before had disappeared completely.
He took a sip of the soup, which was a bit bitter probably due to the ginseng, but it still tasted sweet because it was given to him by the beautiful woman.
Gradually, Zhang Fumin drank most of the soup from the pot.
They had an hour and a half for lunch break, but Zhang Fumin didn’t rush back. He leisurely finished his meal and only got up when his colleagues called him. They all left the fast food restaurant, chatting and laughing.
The street wasn’t too crowded in the afternoon, and the sunlight shone through the leaves, making it very peaceful.
However, after a few steps, Zhang Fumin felt dizzy, and his eyes started seeing double.
Was he having a heatstroke?
It had rained the night before, and the weather wasn’t too hot, even a bit cool. He had just come out of an air-conditioned room, so it couldn’t be a heatstroke.
So, what else could it be?
Zhang Fumin remembered his high blood pressure. He had been diagnosed with it several times during health check-ups. Liao Qinghe had advised him to see a doctor, but he hadn’t taken it seriously. High blood pressure required medication, and he had to quit smoking, drinking, and eating greasy food. He also couldn’t eat too much salt, and there were too many rules to follow, which was too much of a hassle.
He had experienced high blood pressure before, but most of the time, it only made him feel uncomfortable for a while, and then it went away.
Zhang Fumin wanted to quickly go to the office and rest for a while, so he hastened his steps, but he didn’t expect his feet to suddenly give way, causing him to slip.
“Manager Zhang, are you okay?” A colleague asked him.
“I’m fine, just slipped,” Zhang Fumin said, but half of his face kept twitching, and his head became even more dizzy. Before he could stand up, he fell to the ground.
“He is 1.8 meters tall and not light in weight. The whole person fell down like a mountain and couldn’t be lifted up even if someone tried to help him up.
Several colleagues around were frightened. Some went to help him, and some called for an ambulance.
Soon, Zhang Fumin couldn’t speak anymore. In a dizzy state, he seemed to see two people standing coldly on the opposite street corner. One of them he had seen before, the beautiful woman from just now, and next to her was a strange man…
“She… they…” Zhang Fumin’s mouth twitched, and his vision gradually blurred as he fell into darkness.
Across the street, Gu Ruoruo looked a little panicked, and she whispered, “What did you ask me to put in his soup?”
At that time, An Yuci gave her a small bag of white powder, which she secretly put in the soup while he wasn’t looking.
“Don’t worry, it’s not a potent poison.” An Yuci moved his gaze away from the fainted Zhang Fumin, indifferent and no longer wanting to look at that dirty thing lying on the ground. “It’s just a blood pressure medicine that can rapidly increase blood pressure. It will be metabolized soon and cannot be traced back to you.”
Zhang Fumin is now suffering from a stroke caused by high blood pressure, whether he can be saved or not depends on his luck.
Now the police are pursuing him too closely, and he cannot carry out more rigorous methods. However, this method is enough to punish Zhang Fumin or protect Fang Jiayue.
“Let’s go. I won’t contact you again.” An Yuci said to Gu Ruoruo. She is not a firm follower, just a pitiful woman.
“Dr. An, I won’t say anything about you. Thank you, you are my benefactor…” Gu Ruoruo looked at him gratefully, then turned and merged into the crowd.
An Yuci stood on the street and thought. He did not kill Zhang Fumin completely, which is almost unlike his style.
He couldn’t explain why his mentality had changed. Perhaps it was because of his conversation with Su Hui before, his behavior was no longer as firm.
When An Yuci returned home, Fang Jiayue had already changed into the clothes that Liu Mengying had brought. She was sitting on the windowsill, holding the little bird in her hand, stroking its feathers.
Seeing An Yuci come back, Fang Jiayue turned her head excitedly. “Dr. An, I charged my phone, my grandmother’s illness is not too serious, she will be discharged tomorrow. My mother has agreed to let me stay at my grandmother’s house, so I can take care of her and be safer…”
“Is that so? Congratulations.” An Yuci said softly.
It seems that she has not yet received the news of Zhang Fumin being rushed to the hospital for rescue…
An Yuci looked at the girl in front of him. Yesterday she was a pitiful and desperate girl in tears, but today, just one night later, she was like a little sapling that had been watered and brought back to life, bursting with vitality.
An Yuci wanted to tell the girl about Zhang Fumin, but he hesitated and didn’t say it.
He reached out and touched her head. “Then you can go home now.”
“I want to give it a try…” Fang Jiayue said, as she opened a corner of the window.
The little bird on the windowsill took two hops and looked sideways at the two humans beside it, seeming hesitant. Then it turned around and used its beak to tidy up the feathers on its wings.
“You see…” An Yuci was about to speak, but as expected, the bird was not fully recovered yet.
Suddenly, the bird let out two cries and then opened its wings, flying towards the sky.
“Look, it can fly now, it flew away!” Fang Jiayue clapped her hands in delight.
An Yuci widened his eyes, looking at the bird gradually flying further away with an expression on his face that gradually turned into a bitter smile. “So, it can fly on its own now…”
After Fang Jiayue left, An Yuci opened a drawer and took out some spare documents, then packed a travel suitcase.
It was only a matter of time before the police came to search for him. He had to abandon this name and identity.
At one o’clock in the afternoon, in the Huadu City Bureau, a tall and thin young man sat in the interrogation room, with Qu Ming and Zheng Bai questioning him.
“Name, gender, age.”
“Qin Zhihua, male, nineteen years old.”
“Occupation.”
“A student at the Huadu Vocational High School.”
“Do you know why we called you here?”
“I don’t know.”
“Don’t know?” Qu Ming placed a photo on the table and pushed it over to him. “Is the person in this photo really you?”
Qin Zhihua glanced at the image in the photo, pursed his lips, and remained silent.
Qu Ming stared at him intently. “We suspect that you are involved in a murder case.”
At the same time, Lu Junchi led a team of people to carry out an arrest of a suspect named Zhang Ming on the streets of Huadu City.
Zhang Ming was also a part of the serial killer case, and there was a lot of evidence against him. They decided to start with him to break the case. If everything went smoothly, the arrest could be made within an hour.
“The cellphone signal was indeed emitted from here, right?”
“Have you seen the person?”
“No, he seems to have entered the underground passage!”
“Xia Mingxi, retrieve the surveillance footage and tell us the location!”
“Okay! Right away!” Xia Mingxi quickly switched on several surveillance cameras underground and projected them onto the big screen.
Su Hui sat on the sofa, looking at the empty office with only Xia Mingxi inside. He was not invited to participate in today’s arrest operation, and he felt that he could not help much in the interrogation.
He glanced at the big screen and saw that amidst the blurred images, black and white figures became more apparent. Suddenly, Su Hui caught sight of an abnormal figure moving against the flow of people.
“Is he at position three…?” Su Hui held his cane and reminded Xia Mingxi.
“Yes, it’s him, Team Leader Lu. He’s heading towards the subway…” With Su Hui’s reminder, Xia Mingxi also spotted Zhang Ming and immediately made a call.
“Understood! You guys go to the subway and block him. Be careful not to let him get on the train!”
Su Hui leaned forward, getting close enough to scrutinize the screen. Amidst the crowd, Zhang Ming was walking fast, not running, but taking long strides with a slightly wooden expression, as if being controlled by strings like a puppet.
He had no connection with the bustling crowd, and his gaze fixed on a certain figure, before rushing towards it.
Suddenly, Su Hui had an uneasy feeling and frowned, snatching the earpiece from Xia Mingxi. “Lu Junchi! Stop the operation!”
“What? Su Hui, what’s wrong?” Lu Junchi was puzzled.
Su Hui had no time to explain in detail. He switched to the channel for everyone to hear. “Everyone, stop the arrest operation immediately and let the subway stop at the station! Don’t oppress them. He doesn’t want to escape; they want to…”
After hearing Su Hui’s words, all the pursuers were stunned. At that moment, a subway train entered the station.
The subway barrier at this station was half-closed, and suddenly, someone pushed Zhang Ming from behind.
Everything happened in an instant, and no one had time to react. The subway screeched to a halt, making a piercing sound, but the momentum and inertia still caused the vehicle to run over the man.
The subway car shook violently, and red blood spurted out…
The subway instantly panicked, screams ringing out.
“Someone wants to kill him to silence him…” Su Hui finally spoke the last half of his sentence, but it was too late.
Watching the scene on the surveillance camera, Su Hui suddenly felt as if his blood had frozen…
Everything was not as simple as it seemed. Su Hui suddenly thought of something, turned around and stumbled towards the interrogation room beside him. If his intuition was correct…
At the same time, the interrogation in the other room continued.
“Speak! Did you put the burning charcoal in that house?” Qu Ming asked sternly.
“I…I…” Qin Zhihua looked at him, his body gradually starting to tremble, his hand pressing tightly on his abdomen, and then his eyes rolled back.
“Don’t play tricks, speak up!” Qu Ming frowned and questioned.
Qin Zhihua’s body twitched, and he fell from the chair to the ground…
“I…I…” Qin Zhihua looked at him, and his body gradually began to tremble. He pressed his hand tightly on his abdomen and then his eyes rolled up.
“Don’t play tricks, speak up quickly!” Qu Ming frowned and questioned.
Qin Zhihua’s body began to convulse, and he rolled off the chair onto the ground…
Qu Ming initially thought that Qin Zhihua was evading questioning. He had seen too many people like this in the interrogation room – pretending to be crazy, acting dumb, crying and making a fuss, or having a drug addiction. He stood up for a moment without making any sudden movements.
Suddenly, the door of the interrogation room was pushed open by Su Hui. He took a glance at Qin Zhihua lying on the ground and the two stunned policemen, and urgently shouted, “Call 120 (emergency services)!”
“Sa…save me…” Qin Zhihua uttered a painful moan, his teeth grinding, and reached out to Su Hui.
“Damn it!” Qu Ming only then realized that the person in front of him was not pretending. He hurriedly approached to check Qin Zhihua’s condition, and then turned to the dumbfounded Zheng Bai and shouted, “The suspect has been poisoned!”
Zheng Bai quickly took out his phone and made a call.
Su Hui and Qu Ming helped Qin Zhihua up. His body trembled, his mouth kept foaming, and later he choked up blood. Tears streamed down his face, his complexion was pale, and he held Su Hui’s hand tightly and said in pain, “Save me, I don’t want to die…”
TN: This will be the last chapter for a while as I migrate the previous chapters from the other site to this one. I’ll try to do it as fast as possible so please bear with me.

Not gonna lie, I’d be glad if that killed that disgusting shit. But I wouldn’t want the girl to be implicated:(
Somehow I understand the feeling of fulfillment to see someone from being in a miserable state to a happy, stable one. It feels nice to help people and to simply see them being ok and better. But of course, his ways are just extreme, and inefficient in the long run. Dr. An, unfortunately you can’t save everyone:( It’s just life, and life is shitty.
Oh my God Dr. An HELLO???? So to save yourself, you decided to just kill all the “helpers” that you initially wanted to help??? Are you okay? I was just talking about your positive, pure cause, but look at what you’re doing now? Don’t tell me you want to kill the little girl too? You’re crazy! And you want to abandon ‘this’ identity and leave? You’re going nowhere besides the cell sweetie!
Thank you for the chapter!
Yeah, his heart is in the right place but his methods just aren’t it. Honestly for people like these, I feel.death is too much of an easy way out. Personally I prefer to see trash suffer. The more painful the better. Death is giving them a relief. Only suffering for a short while. Killing them slowly over a long period is better. Damn I just aired out my intrusive thoughts🙈💀
