Sui Yuesheng could hardly believe his ears.
…What were these two people talking about?
Something about brothels and black market auctions?
Hadn’t they all come to Kyushu to get married?
His grandmother had said that the middleman she found was very experienced, quite famous nearby, and worked for a particularly large family in Kyushu, so he was reliable.
What was the name of that family again?
Sui Yuesheng couldn’t remember, but at this moment, he couldn’t afford to care about such details.
He maintained his curled-up position in the compartment. Apart from a few sleeping omegas, the only other things in the compartment were a pile of containers filled with disguised cargo.
This position was uncomfortable for sleeping, especially after waking up. His neck felt like it was about to snap, and he urgently needed to relieve himself, but he dared not move.
He even adjusted his breathing rate, and for a moment, the sounds of conversation from the front seemed to diminish, only his heartbeat growing louder, like a drum.
In the past, some small-time punks used to bully the old, weak, and women, trying to take advantage of him, but he had always fought back. Now, however, he had to suppress his anger.
The situation was more powerful than him now. Sui Yuesheng was indeed short-tempered, but he wasn’t foolish.
When he first boarded the truck at Taiqing, he saw that these two men were not only big and burly but also had guns strapped to their belts. They were nothing like the weak, swaying punks he had dealt with before.
Moreover, after months of hunger on the ship, his physical condition was far from what it used to be. The thighs of these two alphas were thicker than his waist, and he knew he couldn’t fight them.
At this point, the only option was to endure. As long as he kept enduring, he would eventually find an opportunity to escape…
But fate wasn’t on his side. The two alphas quickly shifted topics and started discussing women. Sui Yuesheng listened intently while keeping track of time. After about half an hour, he deliberately made some noise in the compartment.
“What’s going on?” The person in front was very alert.
Sui Yuesheng pretended to have just woken up and said with a sleepy voice, “I need to use the restroom…”
“Why did you choose this time to bother us?” The person in front cursed angrily. From the tone, it sounded like Qiang Ge. “Just pee in a bottle.”
Sui Yuesheng nodded, but Qiang Ge suddenly changed his mind. “Never mind, we’ll stop by the roadside later. You can get out and handle it yourself, just this once.”
“Okay, thank you,” Sui Yuesheng quickly thanked him.
He had initially wanted to get out to observe the surroundings and see if there was an opportunity to escape. However, he didn’t expect that once he got out of the truck, the two men followed him and kept their eyes on him.
Although they didn’t come closer to actually do anything, they stood nearby, unabashedly staring at him. When they saw him standing there awkwardly, they urged him, “What are you waiting for? You’re acting like a woman. Do you need someone to teach you how to pull down your pants?”
Qiang Ge suddenly laughed a couple of times with a tone full of ill intent. “Do you want me to help you take them off and hold it for you?”
A trace of humiliation slowly appeared on Sui Yuesheng’s face. He gritted his teeth so hard it felt like he might crush his molars, but he eventually turned around and forced himself to calmly take off his pants.
Fortunately, the two alphas did not approach, likely fearing that if they physically handled him, they might lose control and bite his glands, which could be problematic. Instead, they stood at a distance, greedily staring at him with a beast-like gaze, filling the air with foul language.
…Someday, he would tear these two apart! Sui Yuesheng made a silent vow.
But for now, his vow was merely a venting of frustration in a dire situation.
To avoid inspections at toll booths on the highway, the truck took small roads, occasionally stopping by the roadside to rest, making the already long journey twice as long.
Sui Yuesheng found no opportunity to escape, nor any useful tools, so he had to stay quietly in the compartment, waiting for the danger to approach day by day, as if awaiting the guillotine’s blade.
The slow, steady torment was the worst. Fortunately, after the earlier incident, he began to pay special attention to the alphas’ conversations, gradually realizing that during the day they discussed trivial matters, and only in the deep night did they talk about key topics.
So, Sui Yuesheng adjusted his routine.
He started resting during the day and pretending to be asleep at night, attentively listening to the sounds from the front. Time passed, and indeed, he began to overhear some information.
Removing the irrelevant chatter, the important content was only a few sentences.
—Their destination was Jingpu, which was very close now, and it was the stronghold of the Tao family. The “Master Tao” they mentioned, the head of the Tao family, seemed unaware of these events.
One night, a younger alpha asked worriedly, “Qiang Ge, if Master Tao doesn’t know about this and things get investigated later…”
“What are you worried about?! We’re not the only ones doing this kind of thing. Smuggling people is a risky job, and you only make a bit of commission. Who else would do it? The guys secretly make adjustments. Master Tao is so busy he wouldn’t have time for these small matters.” Qiang Ge scoffed, “Besides, if something goes wrong, we still have the big brother up front.”
…So the real power holders didn’t know about this, which might mean that if he escaped, they wouldn’t dare to search for him openly, only gritting their teeth and accepting the loss?
Sui Yuesheng’s mind raced. Noticing recently that the truck was driving through mountainous areas, he felt it was almost time to act.
He prepared to find the right moment to escape but found himself conflicted when he saw the ignorant and sensitive pampered young omega, who occasionally came over to daydream about married life and plan to have a cute alpha child.
—Should he tell him about this?
The two alphas occasionally talked about this batch of “omega cargo,” with a condescending tone. Sui Yuesheng remembered them discussing the pampered young omega, saying, “The one with brown hair, although the most valuable glands haven’t been touched yet, he’s been played with several times on the ship. The auction won’t want him, and the brothel won’t offer much. Once listed, the price will be low. He’s destined to be played to death. Maybe we should indulge ourselves first…”
The rest were unbearable remarks.
But although the pampered young omega was delicate, he had been kind to Sui Yuesheng. He was just a naive young man who had been overly protected by his family.
Sometimes, Sui Yuesheng felt a bit envious of him.
Only those who grew up carefree and pampered from a young age could still maintain their arrogant and picky demeanor even when alone.
So, Sui Yuesheng eventually chose to tell him the truth. The latter was so scared he lost his composure, first collapsing in a fantasy-shattered breakdown, then trembling all over, unsure of what he was thinking. After that, he grabbed Sui Yuesheng like a drowning person clutching the last piece of driftwood, unwilling to let go, using all his strength to cling on.
“Please, please don’t abandon me.” His voice was choked with tears, but afraid of being discovered by the two alphas in the front seats, he didn’t even dare to cry out loud. “I can tell you’re better than all of us omegas. Can you please take me with you?”
“I swear, I swear I’ll be very good and obedient—”
Every three days, they had a chance to get out of the car and stretch their legs. Sui Yuesheng had originally planned to escape during the next opportunity, but suddenly he froze.
He was unfamiliar with the area, surrounded by desolate wilderness. Originally, he had only planned to see if he could find a village after escaping, but with such an unprepared escape, the chances of success were low, especially with a delicate omega like this…
The words of refusal were on the tip of his tongue, but seeing the omega with tears in his eyes, he suddenly couldn’t bring himself to say them.
“Stay close, if you fall behind, I won’t help you.”
He could only respond this way in the end. The delicate omega quickly nodded, endlessly grateful. If not for Sui Yuesheng’s insistence on stopping him, he would have knelt on the ground and kowtowed three times.
…But as for the others, Sui Yuesheng truly felt powerless.
That evening, taking advantage of the guard’s trip to the bathroom, Sui Yuesheng grabbed the chance to run. He plunged into the tall grass and struggled through it. Behind them, the alpha who noticed the escape quickly came after them with a gun.
Unable to catch up, the alpha decisively aimed at the direction they were running and pulled the trigger. In the darkness, the alpha could only make out a vague shadow. The delicate omega had been following closely behind Sui Yuesheng, and the bullet was supposed to barely graze him, but by some twist of fate, he instinctively threw himself sideways!
—At the critical moment, he took a bullet for Sui Yuesheng.
The bullet pierced his shoulder, which must have been very painful. The night was dark, but Sui Yuesheng still saw the overwhelming blood. However, the person did not cry this time, nor did he make a sound. He just mouthed to him—Go, don’t worry about me, run, run fast!
Sui Yuesheng, who had said he wouldn’t care if someone fell behind, still struggled internally when it came down to it.
The pursuers were very close. Seeing him frozen in place, the delicate omega suddenly reached out and pushed him hard. Sui Yuesheng stumbled and almost fell, but the next second, he sprinted forward, his legs moving unevenly—
Faster!
Faster!
As long as, as long as he could escape…
Sui Yuesheng gritted his teeth.
But this time, the goddess of luck was not on his side, just like in the many years before.
They were eventually caught.
Sui Yuesheng’s face was too beautiful and valuable. The two alphas could not bring themselves to shoot him but raised their fists instead, intending to beat him up badly to teach him a lesson.
However, Sui Yuesheng was not tied up yet. How could he let them hit him?
He fought wildly with the two men. Although the size difference and exhaustion quickly subdued him, he still managed to inflict several deep wounds on them with his desperate struggle.
He even used his teeth, tearing a piece of flesh from Qiang Ge’s wrist.
“Argh—!” Qiang Ge grimaced in pain, holding his hand, and instructed another man to bind Sui Yuesheng tightly with hemp rope and throw him with the delicate omega. “This guy is too fierce!”
“Damn it! Qiang Ge! Let me beat him up a bit more!”
“No need, just keep an eye on him. This beauty is quite fierce. If he injures a customer, it won’t be good. We’ll let him be taught a lesson first, and then sell him once he’s tamed.” Qiang Ge refused his subordinate’s suggestion.
Under strict supervision, Sui Yuesheng no longer found an opportunity to escape.
However, thanks to this beating, a few days later, when they arrived in Jingpu, other omegas were taken away one by one, including the delicate one, while Sui Yuesheng was left behind.
—His temperament was too wild. Whether in a brothel or the black market, they feared he would be difficult to tame and might injure a customer. So they decided to discipline him for a few days before selling him.
So Sui Yuesheng was taken to a shop run by Qiang Ge’s older brother.
He was locked in a place resembling a basement behind the shop, surrounded by disorganized goods, with dust-covered floors and a harsh environment. The methods used to tame him were simple and brutal, somewhat akin to how ancient nomads would train eagles.
They only provided him with minimal food and water, while continuously shining bright lights on his face for 24 hours, with rotating supervision to ensure he had no moment of rest, keeping him constantly awake.
This was a method often used by Qiang Ge’s boss when interrogating prisoners. The longest record was 41 hours, used on a spy sent by a rival gang. Using such methods on an underage omega was sheer overkill.
The executioners were confident, but unexpectedly, they waited until the end without seeing Sui Yuesheng surrender, only to find him suddenly unconscious.
When he woke up again, he was still in that familiar room, but the floodlights had been removed, and he was connected to an IV drip with nutritional fluid. The small leader, who was called the boss by Qiang Ge, said he would remain here until the black market auction on New Year’s Day.
“You either eat or continue with the IV drip; as for dying?” The man sneered, “Don’t even think about it.”
By then, Sui Yuesheng was so weak he could barely lift a finger. He slowly blinked, looked at the low ceiling, and wearily closed his eyes.
As time passed, just when Sui Yuesheng thought this was his only future, something suddenly changed.
One afternoon, there was a loud commotion from the shop in front, and then everyone began to hurry. The guard standing at the door also withdrew.
“Hurry, hurry, Master Tao is coming!”
Everyone left one by one. Sui Yuesheng leaned against the container, suddenly feeling like he saw a glimmer of hope.
…Hadn’t those people said Master Tao was unaware of this? Did this mean he had a chance?
The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment if it fell through. Sui Yuesheng dared not take this assumption too seriously, but he actually heard a sound of footsteps approaching.
The sound came closer and finally stopped at the door. Then, a voice full of authority spoke.
“Why is the warehouse door closed? Is there something unsightly inside?”
Sui Yuesheng hadn’t had water for a long time. All his nutritional needs were met through IV, and he had quickly wasted away. But facing what might be his last chance at salvation, he opened his mouth.
Fortunately, because he had never been noisy or shouted, they had never stuffed anything in his mouth.
He didn’t know the soundproofing of the room or whether the person outside could hear him, or what the reaction would be if they did, but he still did his best to make a sound.
—“Help… help me!”
