Chapter 64: The Arrival of Qin Han
Lin Beixiu, unaware, headed straight to the classroom, allowing her to take the inside seat.
Now, he was too lazy to compete with her for the seat.
Mu Xue smiled and took the inside seat, and during class, she occasionally stared at Lin Beixiu.
The more she looked, the more appealing he seemed, truly handsome.
After class at noon, Qin Muxue finally gathered the courage to take his hand, and to her delight, Lin Beixiu did not refuse.
Lin Beixiu turned and took her small hand, “We’re not cooking today, let’s eat out.”
“Oh, okay.” Qin Muxue followed him like an obedient child.
Lin Beixiu led her to a fish noodle shop, ordering her a plain fish noodle and a spicy one for himself.
“Add some extra fish to hers.”
“Okay,” the server maintained a professional smile as she left.
Qin Muxue watched him order with a smile, content just to sit quietly.
“Anything else you need?” Lin Beixiu turned to ask.
Qin Muxue shook her head, “No, this is fine.”
When the fish noodles were served, they began to eat.
In a corner, two people looked towards Lin Beixiu.
“Hey, Liu Jin, isn’t that Brother Lin?”
“Yeah, it is, and Qin Muxue is with him.”
Hu Feng chuckled and took a photo with his phone.
“It’s always the handsome Lin, so low-key about his romance, and he said he wouldn’t date.”
They smiled at each other but didn’t plan to disturb them.
……
Lin Beixiu and Qin Muxue did not notice the familiar faces and continued to eat.
After finishing, they paid for their meals separately and left the restaurant.
“How did you find this place?” Lin Beixiu asked tentatively.
“It’s pretty good, tasty.”
The flavor was on point, but in her heart, it still wasn’t as good as the food Lin Beixiu made.
……
That evening, after a busy day, Lin Beixiu lay in bed ready to rest.
The door opened again, and Qin Muxue, smiling, poked her head in.
He had talked about locking the door but never did.
“You’re here again.” Lin Beixiu was resigned. “Get out.”
Qin Muxue, looking embarrassed, pouted and said, “I didn’t mean that, I’ve made two cups of hot milk, do you want some?”
“Yes.”
Lin Beixiu instantly responded, feeling slightly embarrassed for misunderstanding her.
Qin Muxue’s expression didn’t change as she entered, holding two cups of milk, one of which was his.
Lin Beixiu took the cup from the table, took a sip, and enjoyed the warm, creamy milk.
“Why aren’t you leaving?”
Lin Beixiu glanced at Qin Muxue sitting on his bed, feeling a bad premonition.
“Can’t I sit for a while? I even brought you milk,” Qin Muxue said with a look of injury.
She slowly stood up, clearly reluctant, thinking that after the first time, there might be a second.
Lin Beixiu couldn’t help but kick her lightly on the behind.
“Damn it, older sister Qin, you’ll be the death of me if you stay.”
“Always calling me older sister, just call me ‘sister.'” Qin Muxue rubbed her backside, not at all upset.
“Just go, get out,” Lin Beixiu said, exasperated.
Qin Muxue then reluctantly left, and Lin Beixiu sighed, took another sip of milk, and went to bed.
From then on, their daily routine involved classes and work, and Qin Muxue did not bother Lin Beixiu anymore, clamoring to sleep with him.
Today, as usual, they attended class.
Qin Muxue’s phone suddenly vibrated, she looked at it, and her pupils shrank, her whole demeanor changing.
“Cover for me later, I need to go home for a bit.”
Lin Beixiu was curious but nodded in agreement.
Qin Muxue hurriedly packed up her things, then remembered something, “Oh, can I borrow your room key?”
Lin Beixiu took out the key from his bag and handed it to her, “What are you planning?”
“My mom is coming to see me. If she finds out I’m living with a guy, she might get upset, which could be bad for you too.”
Lin Beixiu was indifferent, “What’s there to be afraid of? Aren’t we just roommates?”
“Ah, you don’t understand.”
Qin Muxue spoke in a fluster, “Just keep an eye on my messages, and make sure not to show up in front of my mom.”
Qin Muxue dashed out of the classroom, leaving Lin Beixiu puzzled. He finally sighed and prepared to write her an excuse note.
Qin Muxue hadn’t expected her mother to decide to visit her now. She didn’t want to reveal that she was living with Lin Beixiu at this time. If her mother found out, she would surely be interrogated, which could be troublesome for Lin Beixiu.
After all, their relationship hadn’t even started properly, and although her mother was busy, she was very concerned about her daughter’s affairs and would not tolerate any harm coming to her.
Qin Muxue returned home, collected Lin Beixiu’s clothes from the balcony, and placed them in his room, cleaned up the common area, and locked Lin Beixiu’s room.
Just then, the doorbell rang, Qin Muxue checked her appearance and went to open the door.
Standing outside were Qin Han and Su Yun, Su Yun carrying a large bag of items.
Qin Muxue opened the door, and Qin Han looked at her tenderly, saying softly, “Little Xue.”
“Mom, Sister Yun.”
Qin Muxue stepped aside to let them in.
They surveyed the apartment’s layout and sat down on the sofa.
Qin Han was pleased with the apartment’s arrangement and its cleanliness and simplicity, which reflected well on a person’s habits.
She trusted Little Xue, which also indicated that the boy named Lin Beixiu was likely tidy as well, of course, assuming Qin Muxue wouldn’t neglect cleanliness either.
Qin Muxue poured two glasses of water, placed them in front of them, and sat on the other side of the sofa.
“Little Xue, how are your studies going? Aren’t you too tired?”
“It’s okay.”
Qin Muxue responded nonchalantly, “I was in class, why did you come over now?”
Qin Han gave a bitter smile, not speaking.
Su Yun tried to smooth things over, “Your mom just got some free time today and came right over to see you.”
“Mhm.”
Qin Muxue’s expression flickered. Although she had long stopped blaming her mother, their relationship was still quite cold, and she wasn’t used to it.
Su Yun picked up the fruit she had bought, planning to wash it in the bathroom, while mother and daughter chatted in the living room.
“Little Xue, are you living alone?” Qin Han asked tentatively.
“No, I’m renting with another student, that’s his room.”
Qin Muxue hesitated before speaking, feeling that this couldn’t be kept secret anyway; her mom could easily find out upon returning, plus considering what Lin Beixiu had said earlier, she decided to be honest.
Qin Han nodded, knowingly asking, “A boy or a girl?”
“A boy.”
Although they were prepared, both were still shocked; they couldn’t believe Little Xue would live with a boy.
Qin Han was very sympathetic, “Sorry, Little Xue, I’ve been so busy I forgot to send you money, and you didn’t tell us. Should I find you a better place to live nearby?”
