Chapter 53: Admiring the Sunset
Upon arriving in Auckland, Shen Muyan’s purchased villa had been meticulously prepared by the staff.
Qin Yanzhou found it satisfactory, without any significant flaws.
Reaching the villa, both parties had recovered their energy and were ready to enjoy themselves.
However, Shen Muyan hadn’t anticipated the extent of Qin Yanzhou’s preparations, including a private island attached to the villa.
Thus, bewildered, she was led towards the private island.
At the harbor, they boarded a helicopter bound for the island. Though a bit apprehensive, she followed closely behind Qin Yanzhou, their roles reversed. She was supposed to be the one leading him on a tour.
“Don’t be afraid,” Qin Yanzhou’s mere presence instilled a sense of inexplicable security.
In the end, Shen Muyan was personally escorted onto the helicopter. Though a timid girl, she was willing to try new things, especially when the helicopter soared across the harbor, the azure waves churning, sunlight refracting into a kaleidoscope of colors.
The wind whipped at her face, seagulls glided overhead.
The constant, close proximity made her instinctively lean her head to the side, driven by curiosity. The cabin was soundproof, allowing Qin Yanzhou to quietly observe her exploration of this novel experience, finding it quite amusing.
Time slipped by unnoticed. Shen Muyan could only see a distant island, resembling a paradise.
The shallow waters shimmered in a clear, light blue, waves danced like silver ribbons, encircling the land. In the center, a castle-like villa stood tall and proud, its unique silhouette bathed in the glow of the setting sun. The beauty was breathtaking.
Shen Muyan was no stranger to the world, yet this sight was truly a first.
The island was secluded and untouched.
As the helicopter landed behind the villa, the cabin door opened, a gentle breeze caressing her cheeks, cool and refreshing. Her long hair flowed freely, embodying a sense of freedom and abandon.
While Qin Yanzhou turned to give instructions to the staff, Shen Muyan stood quietly behind him, her heart racing.
Ning Qing brought the luggage and, along with the maids, began to unpack.
Up until this point, she hadn’t felt any particular anxiety, just a slight worry about being tricked.
However, now, she felt a growing sense of unease about this Qin Yanzhou, who appeared so deep and unreadable, while she, like an untamed cat, was easily swayed by his words.
“Mr. Qin, do you come to this island often?”
“This is my first time.”
They walked side by side, Shen Muyan just a few centimeters shorter than Qin Yanzhou, her eyes slightly tilted upwards.
“I love it here!” she exclaimed, her first impression upon setting foot on the island.
The floating clouds, the gentle breeze, the vast expanse, the setting sun.
Freedom and romance, everything she desired.
“Do you like the sunset?”
“Yes.” He turned back, his response immediate and unwavering.
Her eyes, clear as glass, shimmered with a radiant smile. Her eyebrows arched like a crescent moon, her charm intoxicating.
“Then, I’ll bring you here every day.”
Dinner was served at dusk, the sky gradually turning a pale yellow. The girl had meticulously dressed for the occasion, wearing a long dress specifically chosen for the sunset.
Her skin was fair and flawless, her figure graceful. As she walked, the flowing silk of her dress shimmered in the fading sunlight, radiating a brilliant glow.
The sunset, accompanied by the bodyguard, seemed to please Qin Yanzhou.
“Mr. Qin, let’s take a picture.”
When Shen Muyan reached the edge of the cliff, Qin Yanzhou lowered his head, his gaze fixated on her, a mixture of astonishment and admiration. Though he asked a question, his tone was not forceful: “The sunset is beautiful every day, why do you insist on taking a picture today?”
Ning Qing stood behind her, watching as her young mistress walked into the lion’s den, unable to say anything.
Her biggest fear was that at some point, Old Master Shen and the others would find out… and it would be a nightmare to deal with.
Mr. Qin was only interested in admiring the sunset with Shen Muyan. This time, she didn’t hesitate, she stood on tiptoes, meeting his gaze. Their eyes locked, both captivated by the other.
“Okay.” Qin Yanzhou’s reply was prompt and decisive, taking only a second.
“Ning Qing, go back to the villa and rest.”
“Yes, Miss.”
Shen Muyan, her wish granted, followed Qin Yanzhou’s steps towards the lighthouse, the perfect stage for the sunset.
In the distance, the vast expanse stretched out, the sun gradually sinking below the horizon, its depths dark, mysterious, and alluring.
Besides the scent of the sea air, she could smell the rich aroma of wine. Glancing sideways, she saw Qin Yanzhou holding a wine glass, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he finished the drink.
“Admiring the sunset, enjoying the beautiful scenery, why do I feel like Mr. Qin is standing at the peak, like a powerful eagle or a fierce tiger, ready to hunt down his prey?”
“Mr. Qin, you are right.”
“This wine is too strong, it’s not suitable.” Qin Yanzhou didn’t refuse.
However, the girl had already reached the edge of the cliff, her arms wrapped around the wine bottle, her voice soft and gentle, “Romanée-Conti Grand Cru.”
“You haven’t had any yet!”
“Listen to me.” Qin Yanzhou set down his glass, taking the bottle from her hand. “You’ve already gotten drunk twice, if you get drunk again, the bodyguard will suspect something. Do you understand?”
The orange sunlight brushed against Qin Yanzhou’s profile, his noble features and bone structure highlighted to perfection. His elegant face held a stern expression.
His words were indeed enough to subdue Shen Muyan, but after the incident on the helicopter, she was afraid.
He was angry.
“Wine, how can one use alcohol to flirt with fate?”
Taking advantage of the moment, he said directly:
“I like you.”
