Chapter 8: Spoiling Him
After dinner, Ning Qing waited for Shen Muyan in the restaurant lobby.
Lu Lin had Shen Muyan’s business card from earlier, and he added her on WeChat after hearing Qin Xian instruct him to introduce the scenic spots of Shanghai to Sister Shen.
He sorted out some documents at night and sent them over.
Shen Muyan was already asleep, and she felt quite annoyed when she saw the documents the next morning.
Why was Qin Yanzhou so indifferent and cold? It would be better to stay away from him.
In the afternoon, the nail technician came to remove her nails and do some basic maintenance.
In the afternoon, Shen Muyan picked out some of Shanghai’s more famous scenic spots to check in and take photos.
Working, working, working.
She could stay up until 2 am working, but after finishing, she would definitely reward herself, so she wasn’t really a work machine.
Just like that.
Shanghai’s scenery was stunning, with clear blue skies and a salty, fresh breeze that permeated the air. Although it wasn’t as romantic as Victoria Harbour, this place was enough.
She felt that Shanghai’s climate was more changeable than Hong Kong’s. Standing on the rocky beach, Ning Qing raised her camera and accurately captured Shen Muyan’s photos.
After all, it was just a simple sightseeing trip, there was no need to hire a professional photography team.
Shen Muyan was wearing a light blue, floral-patterned long skirt today. The regular skirt swayed like a blooming lotus, swaying gracefully, beautiful as jade, with every slight sway.
The sun shone through the leaves, casting dappled light, falling on her, gilding every strand of her hair.
In the evening, she posted a grid of photos on social media.
She continued to immerse herself in the related matters of No. 1 Leather, chatting with the Shanghai International Port Trade about specific matters, and it was estimated that they would have a meeting.
The meeting time was set, and the spacious conference room was full of people. The location was excellent, on a high floor, with a panoramic view of the bustling Shanghai CBD.
Compared to Shen Muyan, the stack of documents on her seat made her head ache.
“Sister Shen, your coffee has sugar in it.” The secretary who delivered the coffee explained this time.
“Okay, thank you.” Shen Muyan didn’t look up until she heard Qin Yanzhou’s message before putting down her marker.
Qin Yanzhou had just finished a cross-border meeting today. As soon as he entered, he could see Shen Muyan, on the opposite side of the rectangular conference table, in the center.
The executives on both sides who had reached the top of their respective companies stood up to greet him.
“Let’s begin.” Shen Muyan simply instructed the No. 1 Leather investment team to report.
The focus of both companies was almost the same: profit sharing.
The split was fair, and they had already given a lot of profit to Shanghai International Port Trade. Shen Muyan also observed Qin Yanzhou’s face.
He was still calm and indifferent, aloof, occasionally flipping through a few documents.
She just didn’t notice that when she was reporting, Qin Yanzhou’s eyes finally stirred.
The room was air-conditioned, and it was already past noon. The meeting was temporarily suspended, and it would continue at 2 pm.
During the break, Shen Muyan felt a bit dizzy. She leaned against the corner of the sofa, not touching the snacks at all. She took out her phone and sent a message to Ning Qing, asking her to bring some emergency cold medicine.
She had a very poor ability to take care of herself. She probably forgot about taking care of herself while she was busy taking beautiful photos yesterday. She probably didn’t add clothes when it was cold, and now her forehead was very hot.
Upstairs, Ning Qing brought the cold medicine and rushed out, but she was stopped by the security guard at the lobby. Luckily, she met Lu Lin.
“Sister Shen, are you feeling unwell?” Lu Lin noticed the medicine bag in Ning Qing’s hand without a second glance, and he connected it to the meeting in the afternoon. She had at least persisted for an hour, so he asked out of concern.
Ning Qing was quite wary of strangers and just hummed in response. When the elevator reached her floor, she quickly left.
Lu Lin returned to the office just as the internal line rang with instructions to deliver coffee. He personally brought it over, and he took the opportunity to mention it.
“Is she sick?” Qin Yanzhou tapped on the keyboard, pausing for a few seconds, his thick eyebrows slightly furrowed.
“She probably caught a chill yesterday.” Lu Lin brought up Shen Muyan’s Moments post, adding a sentence, seeing that Qin Xian hadn’t replied for a while, he was about to leave.
Qin Yanzhou’s voice was filled with an indescribable aura, and he asked Lu Lin, “What?”
Lu Lin had been working with Qin Yanzhou for a long time, and he was quite familiar with the subtle expressions of his boss. Seeing this questioning look, he instantly understood.
“Sir, do you want me to tell Sister Shen about the Shanghai sightseeing?”
“Contact the Shen family. The afternoon meeting is cancelled. We’ll continue later.” Qin Yanzhou’s tone was fast and steady, without a hint of warmth.
After saying that, he continued with his own work, his eyes lowered, not allowing any interruptions.
“Okay.”
Shen Muyan leaned against Ning Qing’s shoulder and rested for a while. The door to the rest room was knocked on, and she turned around groggily.
She opened the door, and it was Lu Lin.
“Sister Shen, the boss said the meeting has been postponed to the afternoon. Are you okay with that?”
“Why is it postponed?” Shen Muyan rubbed her sleepy eyes, looking at the time. It was past noon, and she was confused.
Lu Lin conveyed Qin Yanzhou’s words tactfully: “The boss said you’re not feeling well, so he postponed the meeting.”
“Is he busy?”
“The boss is free now.”
“Oh.” Shen Muyan simply tidied up the wrinkles on her clothes in front of the mirror in the rest room. She quickly put on some makeup and didn’t take anything else before heading out.
She had been to the company twice, and she was familiar with Qin Yanzhou’s office.
“Hey, Sister Shen.” Lu Lin hurriedly followed behind Shen Muyan. She was still wearing high heels, and he didn’t dare to stop her.
Shen Muyan knew very well that the people involved in this negotiation had prepared for a whole night. After the matter was over, they would also be under a lot of pressure. Moreover, the meeting was already halfway through, and they suddenly said it was postponed.
It was just because of one person.
Absolutely not.
She pressed the doorbell to the office, and it opened automatically after a few seconds.
“What?” Qin Yanzhou’s expression was inscrutable to Lu Lin. He only left Shen Muyan in the office and raised his head, his eyes filled with a stern look.
Shen Muyan had already sorted out her emotions as soon as she entered the office. Seeing him at this moment, she softened her voice, in a purely consultative tone: “Qin Xian, can we postpone the meeting?”
The energetic rabbit became listless as soon as it entered the door.
Qin Yanzhou moved his chair back slightly, letting her in, and said in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”
Her overly beautiful face was easy to make people ignore her discomfort. With her clear makeup, it was hard to ignore the fatigue underneath.
He asked with concern, “Do you have a fever?”
“Why are you here?” Shen Muyan was a little curious.
Ning Qing had brought a silver thermometer upstairs just now, and it showed 38.5°C, but she had taken emergency fever medicine. Actually, she was fine now, not very uncomfortable.
“Your condition will affect the effectiveness of the meeting. Don’t be stubborn.” Qin Yanzhou said, not giving Shen Muyan a chance to refute, and he immersed himself in his own work.
Shen Muyan looked at him expectantly.
She deflated, pursed her lips, and stared at Qin Yanzhou.
“Sir~…”
“Postpone it…”
She mumbled, her voice high-pitched, her tone a little aggrieved.
