“When was this investor banquet?” Xu Shuying asked in surprise.
“Just a few days ago! Can you believe it?” Xu Pandi was very upset, saying angrily, “He’s definitely afraid that Junzhe’s shared electric bikes will outshine his shared bicycles, so he deliberately said that, deliberately suppressing Junzhe’s company! His heart is too dark!”
Xu Manni added, “Those investors all know Xu Mo. After he spoke, they all got scared! Now we’re discussing what to do next! Sister, why don’t you invest in Junzhe’s shared electric bikes too? It’s sure to take off!”
She looked at Xu Wanting.
Xu Wanting had money in hand. Deverna was once a company worth billions in market value, and Xu Wanting had considerable liquid assets that could easily lift up shared electric bikes.
Xu Wanting glanced at her but said nothing.
She didn’t want to discuss Deverna now; in fact, Deverna was on the brink of bankruptcy, in imminent danger.
Almost all her money had been spent, and if she wanted to save Deverna, she probably needed to ask Xu Deming for some money.
Seeing Xu Wanting remain silent, Xu Manni felt disappointed and continued, “Sister, take a look at Junzhe’s project proposal now, whether it’s Xiahai City or Beijing, Xu Mo’s shared bicycles have already been pushed aside! Shared electric bikes clearly have more advantages than Xu Mo! Although the cost is higher, once developed, it can definitely offset the cost!”
“And I also think shared electric bikes contribute more to society, more convenient. Junzhe’s starting point is much higher than Xu Mo’s!”
Xu Manni continued, “Although we lost this round of financing opportunities, there may be others! We’ll definitely get financing! With money injected, we can easily defeat Xu Mo’s shared bicycles!”
Upon hearing this, Xu Wanting glanced at Xie Bingyan. Seeing Xie Bingyan’s calm face, seemingly agreeing with this viewpoint, she felt a chill in her heart.
She asked, “Do you really want to defeat him so badly?”
“Sis, don’t you see what Xu Mo has done? Now he’s arrogant and aloof, wouldn’t even greet us if he saw us! Last time he saw Mom was even worse—he cursed at us! I just can’t stand him!” Xu Manni said angrily.
Xu Wanting and Xu Shuying didn’t know what exactly was said when they met, but they felt a deep sadness in their hearts.
After thinking for a moment, Xu Shuying turned to Xie Bingyan and asked, “Mom, do you really want to crush Xu Mo’s company? Do you really want to bankrupt him?”
Xie Bingyan looked up at her, expressionless. “Without our Xu family and Xie family’s support, he would never succeed! He would never amount to anything!”
Xu Shuying was shaken, her eyes instantly reddening. She quickly responded, “Then Mom, you’ve already got what you wanted. You’ve succeeded! Xu Mo has been forced to sell the company!”
“What?” Everyone was stunned.
Xu Shuying just wanted to cry, “Didn’t you see the news? Xu Mo has already sold the shared bike company, making a bold decision to withdraw. He has completely exited the web based sharing industry, all because of you!”
She looked at Xie Bingyan.
Xie Bingyan’s body trembled slightly, her eyes widening.
“I know you wanted him bankrupt, wanted his company to fail, wanted to reduce him to begging again! Wasn’t that what you said to him a few days ago?” Xu Shuying continued tearfully, “You mobilized the power of the Xu family and the Xie family, threatened him so he couldn’t continue! You’ve indeed succeeded, Xu Mo really can’t continue anymore!”
Xu Manni couldn’t believe it. She quickly took out her tablet and checked the news, scrolling through the updates.
When she saw what was there, her expression changed drastically, her eyes widening in shock.
Xu Pandi and Xu Junzhe hurried over to take a look, their disbelief evident.
“Mom—” Xu Manni handed the tablet to Xie Bingyan.
Xie Bingyan glanced at it, her hands trembling.
“Xu Mo actually sold the company, how is this possible?” Xu Pandi exclaimed.
“Nothing is impossible! Wasn’t this what you threatened him with? You knew he had no power or influence, so you threatened him to stop! He anticipated this, so he abandoned this thriving business!” Xu Shuying said tearfully, “Isn’t this the result you wanted?”
Xu Manni glanced at it and murmured, “If he’s not doing this anymore, isn’t that even better? Next, Junzhe’s shared electric bike business will take off!”
Xu Wanting heard her say this but only felt sadness in her heart. After a moment of thought, she turned to Xu Junzhe and said, “Junzhe, you should go back to school first! I need to talk to Mom about something!”
“Big sis…”
“You should go back now! We’ll talk more tomorrow!” Xu Wanting said, wanting him to leave.
Xu Junzhe looked at everyone and, seeing no objections, reluctantly said, “Alright! I’ll head back to school then! I actually have something to take care of there!”
“Okay! Third Sister, Fourt Sister, if you have things to do, you should leave too! I need to talk to Mom!” Xu Wanting continued.
Xu Pandi glanced around and said, “Big sis, I also think Xu Mo selling the company is a good thing! Without him, it’ll be easier for the shared electric bikes to develop!”
“Got it! You guys continue with the fundraising!” Xu Wanting didn’t want to argue with them; they had already invested a lot of money.
Xu Pandi and Xu Manni thought for a moment and said, “Alright then! We’ll leave first! Junzhe still needs to continue fundraising!”
“Okay!”
Xu Wanting watched them leave and then sat down on the sofa. She picked up Xu Junzhe’s project proposal and glanced at it.
There were many things written on it, much of it about evaluations of Xu Mo’s shared bicycles.
She couldn’t bear to continue reading after just one glance. She felt that things had become increasingly frightening, as if they were spiraling out of control.
Xie Bingyan probably only just found out that Xu Mo had already sold the company.
She seemed unable to believe it, her hands trembling slightly as she held the tablet.
Xu Wanting knew that Xie Bingyan must understand the significance of the shared bike business to Xu Mo.
Xu Mo had once poured countless efforts into this venture, single-handedly creating a phenomenal enterprise that belonged uniquely to him, altering society and changing the world.
Because of this business, Xu Mo had risen to fame, becoming a renowned entrepreneur, investor, and even a top scorer in the college entrance examination.
Xu Mo had cherished this business immensely, dedicating a great deal of energy to it.
In the early days of the company’s development, he had often gone out to transport bikes and set them up, his skin darkened by the sun, nearly peeling off a layer.
But now, he was no longer involved.
He had sold everything.
Xie Bingyan probably hadn’t anticipated such an outcome. For a moment, she seemed like a puppet, somewhat bewildered.
“In Xiahai City, Dad went to the eastern orphanage to investigate Xu Mo’s situation! Mom, do you remember once when we went to the nearby Gaole Amusement Park for Junzhe’s birthday? Our whole family went, and there we encountered a group of beggar children kneeling on the ground!”
“One of the beggar children was filthy, dressed in tattered clothes, and even got beaten by the amusement park security!”
“We all saw it; Second Sister’s photo album even has pictures of this!”
“Mom, do you remember that the ragged, kneeling beggar child was actually Xu Mo? So did you specifically go to snatch back the money from his hands?”
“Fourth Sister and Fifth Sister saw him as pitiful and gave him over ten yuan, and you took it all back!”
“You knew, didn’t you?”
…
Xie Bingyan froze, forcefully turned her head to look at Xu Wanting.
“You don’t love him! You never loved him! But maybe you don’t know how much he loved you. When he found out you were his mother, he was overjoyed. Yet, you’ve never… cared!”
“His company, it’s gone!”
“You pushed him to the brink!”
