Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 143

Chapter 143: “If it were Xu Mo!”

Xu Junzhe was thrilled, achieving success in both career and love as he successfully arranged a date with Gao Caier.

He drove the Porsche gifted by Xu Deming to Tsinghua University and personally picked up his goddess for the date.

Although he had to wait for quite some time under the female dormitory to see her coming down, Xu Junzhe was still very happy.

Gao Caier was naturally delighted to see the Porsche parked at the entrance of the female dormitory.

Thanks to the Porsche, it caused a lot of cheers and attention from many female students, which Gao Caier enjoyed very much.

Of course, when she saw Xu Junzhe, she immediately suppressed her happy emotions, her face turning displeased, looking aloof.

Seeing this, Xu Junzhe didn’t dare to be dissatisfied. He got out of the car himself, with a smile on his face, opened the car door for her, and greeted her to the passenger seat.

Afraid that his goddess might not be satisfied, Xu Junzhe also presented her with a necklace that had already been prepared—a necklace adorned with twenty diamonds, worth a million, exquisite and beautiful.

Upon seeing the necklace, Gao Caier secretly liked it but didn’t show it. Instead, she frowned and said, “Who asked you to give me this? I’m just going out to dinner with you!”

“I know, I know! It’s okay, just take it for now! We’ll talk more at the restaurant!” Xu Junzhe replied cheerfully.

Gao Caier looked displeased and somewhat impatient, but in the end, she reluctantly took the necklace.

Seeing her reaction, Xu Junzhe became even happier. He quickly started his sports car and drove his goddess to the restaurant that had already been reserved.

As Xu Junzhe drove, Gao Caier couldn’t help but glance at him. There was a hint of disdain between her eyebrows.

Perhaps due to genetics, Xu Junzhe’s appearance couldn’t compare to Xu Mo’s.

Benefiting from the Xu and Xie family genes, Xu Mo was tall, handsome, mature, and steady, almost like a heartthrob loved by many.

“If only it were Xu Mo,” she couldn’t help but think. Compared to Xu Junzhe’s clumsiness, she preferred mature and steady men.

Xu Mo had been too low-key, and his field of study didn’t bring him into contact with many girls, hence few knew him. In contrast, Xu Junzhe’s looks were far less appealing, lacking the prominent nose and stature of the Xu family, putting him several notches below.

However, Xu Junzhe had made a name for himself early on at Tsinghua University, despite his average looks, and had garnered attention from countless girls, which was why Gao Caier noticed him.

Currently, Gao Caier had easily positioned herself to win Xu Junzhe, having already stood out from the crowd, but she wasn’t willing to do so just yet. She enjoyed the feeling of being pursued and wouldn’t easily let Xu Junzhe have her.

Especially successful men possess a charm that many young men lack, something that young Xu Junzhe found difficult to achieve. However, after their two encounters, Gao Caier was also clear that Xu Mo wasn’t someone she could easily win over.

On the day they went out to eat, Xu Mo’s gaze toward her was mostly scrutinizing and cautious, lacking any hint of infatuation or admiration, which greatly disappointed Gao Caier. This might be related to Xu Mo’s entrepreneurial experience; he wouldn’t easily trust anyone.

That day, she understood very clearly that if she wanted to win over Xu Mo, she would have to put in a hundred times more effort; otherwise, success would be impossible. If she wanted to control Xu Mo… that seemed even more unlikely. That man was far more difficult to handle than she had imagined.

In comparison, Xu Junzhe seemed much easier.

In dealing with Xu Junzhe, she could easily manipulate him, just needing to tease and use some means.

Gao Caier was very clear about the differences between the two!

However, she didn’t mind having more contact with Xu Mo. She liked this mature and wise man, fascinated in her heart. Thus, they could also get along well in bed.

But she was very clear that he was not her ideal choice.

Her ideal choice was Xu Junzhe. As long as she won Xu Junzhe over, she would have no worries about food and clothing in the future.

Xu Junzhe was now immersed in joy and naturally did not notice Gao Caier’s thoughts.

In fact, he really liked Gao Caier, so much so that in the future, he would listen to Gao Caier very much and take over the Xu family’s assets.

It was something he wanted to do himself, but without Gao Caier’s provocation, Xu Manni and others wouldn’t have died.

The two started dating, enjoying each other’s company!

Gu Huanxi booked a rather quiet private room.

Xu Mo said he would have lunch with her in the afternoon, and she had already made a reservation early on, finding a good spot.

It had been a while since Xu Mo had eaten with her. Previously, they would eat together with four people or with Li Banzhuang present. It was rare for just the two of them to eat together.

It was clear that Gu Huanxi attached great importance to this occasion. Seeing Xu Mo arrive on his bicycle under the drizzle, she couldn’t help but smile wryly and led him towards their table.

“It’s drizzling outside. Didn’t you bring an umbrella?”

“None! It’s not heavy, so I didn’t bother,” Xu Mo replied.

“Then at least find some shelter? Look at your head, it’s covered in raindrops!” Gu Huanxi chided with a smile, handing him a tissue. “Quick, wipe it off!”

Xu Mo smiled and took the tissue, dabbing at his head before glancing around. “The ambiance here is nice. How did you find this place?”

“A classmate recommended it. They said there will be piano music later. We can listen,” Gu Huanxi replied with a shy smile.

“This place doesn’t look cheap,” Xu Mo remarked.

“I asked around; there’s a discount. It’s affordable,” Gu Huanxi blinked.

“Alright then, let’s enjoy our meal here,” Xu Mo agreed, settling into his seat and waiting for the food to arrive.

“Are you flying to New York soon?” Gu Huanxi initiated, looking for a topic as Xu Mo settled in.

“I need to go, there are matters to discuss,” Xu Mo replied calmly. “Next, our pace will quicken. I hope to get the company listed before we graduate.”

“Planning to pursue a master’s degree?” Gu Huanxi inquired.

“Probably. Since we’re not exactly short on money, might as well continue studying,” Xu Mo chuckled. As students of Tsinghua University, they had the privilege of direct admission to graduate school without exams, as long as they could afford it.

“Then the next few years will likely be very busy! Once the company goes public, things will probably get even busier,” Gu Huanxi remarked.

“Our internal reforms need to keep up. Although we’ve revamped our equity structure, there’s a need for rotational management in some internal areas. I hope Pinduoduo can grow to become a giant like Ali Group,” Xu Mo elaborated.

“Ali Group…”

If it were a few years ago and Xu Mo had mentioned creating a company like Ali Group, people would have dismissed it as a pipe dream, utterly impossible.

However, now with the fierce momentum of Pinduoduo, it seems such a possibility exists.

Perhaps after Pinduoduo goes public, it can expand to a very high level.

Moreover, they still have other industries.

Of course, today eating with Xu Mo, Gu Huanxi didn’t want to talk much about company or work matters.

The two of them finally had some time to eat together, and Gu Huanxi wanted to talk about other things.

“Xu Mo, just enjoy your meal! I can see you’ve been too busy to eat properly lately, you’ve lost quite a bit of weight.”

“How about this, you stop going to the cafeteria from now on. I’ll buy some pots and bowls and cook for you! We can eat together in the future!”
