Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart?
Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 16.2

Upon realizing Xu Mo was the culprit, Xu Xuehui couldn’t help but erupt in anger. She immediately called him over and scolded him, mocking his love for mopping the floors so much that he should clean the entire house from top to bottom. If he couldn’t clean it thoroughly, she wouldn’t allow him to rest.

At that time, Xu Xuehui’s words were merely spoken in anger, but Xu Mo seemed to take them seriously.

After her outburst, she hurried off to school for classes. About five or six days later, the group chat received a video from the youngest sibling, showing that Xu Mo had indeed mopped the entire house.

The younger siblings teased Xu Mo for being so diligent, assuming he was trying to please Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming, which made them look down on him.

It was said that after mopping, Xu Mo’s face turned pale, with beads of sweat on his forehead. Exhausted, he could only lie down to rest, skipping dinner and going straight to sleep.

At that time, Xu Xuehui didn’t think much of it, feeling it served him right.

She couldn’t be bothered to explain to the younger siblings, old four and old five, that it was due to her request.

At that moment, Xu Xuehui took a deep breath, her face turning pale.

She continued reading.

“My second sister’s car is so beautiful! This car seems to be called a Porsche!”

There were several photos of a Porsche attached.

However, the angles at which Xu Mo took these photos were quite sly, mostly from upstairs, keeping a distance from the Porsche, as if he didn’t dare to get too close to the car.

“My second sister drove out for classes! My second sister drove back home; her car got dirty with mud… My second sister told the eldest sister that her car is hard to drive and she wants to change it. My second sister got into a car accident; she hit someone…”

There was a plethora of information in the messages, overwhelming Xu Xuehui.

She knew that Xu Mo was very fond of that car.

In the past, when Xu Mo saw her car, he would sneak over, wanting to touch it. But when Xu Xuehui caught him in the act, she exploded in anger, sternly forbidding him from touching it.

“If you dare to touch my car, I’ll beat you to death!”

“Don’t touch my car! You’re too dirty, completely filthy!”

“If you dare to touch my car again, I’ll chop off your hand!”

She remembered a time when Xu Mo saw her car parked in the yard, covered in mud and fallen leaves. After looking at it, he fetched a bucket of water to wash it for her.

After he had cleaned the car, Xu Xuehui returned, exploding in anger.

Without a word, she walked over and slapped him across the face, the same threat of chopping off his hand was made then.

Following the slap, Xu Mo seemed taken aback, his face turning pale. The water bucket slipped from his hands, and he held his cheek, nodding profusely, “Yes, I’m sorry, second sister, I… I didn’t mean to! I just…”

“My car being dirty has nothing to do with you! If you dare to touch my car again, I will chop off your hand and throw it out to feed the dogs! Do you hear me?”

“Yes, yes, I hear you!” Xu Mo, panic-stricken, his eyes filled with fear, seemed unsure of what to do.

At that moment, Xu Xuehui only felt a sense of relief!

Upon reaching this part, Xu Xuehui felt like she was suffocating, as if something was squeezing her heart tightly.

“It’s my second sister’s birthday! It’s my second sister’s birthday!”

A message appeared.

“Tang Lei, I overheard Zhao Ma saying today is my second sister’s birthday! My second sister likes postcards and sticky rice balls. Let’s go out and find the best ones for my second sister!”

“My second sister is hosting friends at home for her birthday! She invited so many people to the house, and they’re all playing in the living room!”

“But my second sister didn’t let me come home; she asked me to stay outside and wait until they were done playing!”

Xu Xuehui suddenly remembered something, and her body trembled violently.

Continuing to read: “It’s pouring rain outside, so cold. When will my second sister be done?”

Since Xu Xuehui was hosting a gathering with many friends and close companions at home, she didn’t allow Xu Mo to come back. She made him wait outside.

That day happened to have heavy rain and cold weather. Xu Mo seemed to be waiting in a pavilion outside the front door, enduring the night.

Xu Xuehui recalled that day vividly, with friends and companions singing, playing games in the living room, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.

She had completely forgotten about her younger brother waiting outside for their birthday party to end.

The reason being, she felt embarrassed by him, not wanting to introduce him to her friends and close companions, fearing that Xu Mo would make her lose face.

Suddenly, Xu Xuehui felt a twinge in her nose. She had never considered herself excessive before, as he was indeed unkempt and embarrassing.

However, now as she read through the messages, she realized how excessively harsh she had been, wasting the potential of a once talented student who had studied abroad.

Xu Xuehui remembered slapping Xu Mo once.

It was the second time she had invited her friends over for a gathering at home, and Xu Mo unexpectedly appeared from the second floor, caught by her friends.

Her friends didn’t recognize him and asked Xu Xuehui to introduce him. She claimed he was the maid’s child, refusing to acknowledge Xu Mo as her brother.

At that moment, Xu Mo seemed slightly embarrassed and didn’t elaborate much. However, her friends found Xu Mo rather amusing. They teased him by purposely spilling a drink on the floor, then making him come over to clean it up, even accidentally spilling some on him.

Xu Mo didn’t get angry; he just felt embarrassed. Seeing this, her friends remarked on his good temperament, considering him a decent maid’s younger brother.

Later on, they instructed Xu Mo to serve water, tea, fetch food, and drinks, catering to their needs during the gathering.

Xu Xuehui felt insulted, especially witnessing Xu Mo’s fawning behavior towards her friends. This enraged her, when she found Xu Mo, she gave him a harsh slap across his face.

“Don’t come near my friends! You have embarrassed me today! How did you suddenly appear from your room when you weren’t even suppose to be at home?”

“Embarrassing! You are incredibly embarrassing! I have never seen someone as embarrassing as you! Let me tell you, if I invite people over in the future, you stay far away from them! I don’t want to see you, ever!”

All she could recall was Xu Mo, after being scolded, looking pale and utterly panicked, his eyes filled with fear and dread.

“Y-yes, I’m sorry!” He apologized, his expression filled with terror.

“Is saying sorry useful? If apologies worked, why do we have the police? Let me tell you, don’t come to my school again; I never want to see you. Don’t touch my car; if you damage it, you won’t be able to afford it! Don’t let my friends see you; get lost!”

After saying this, Xu Xuehui returned to her room feeling relieved, leaving Xu Mo behind, looking terrified.

From that moment on, he indeed never went to her school, never sneaked into her classes, and never touched her car. He only dared to watch from a distance, taking photos from afar.

Those few photos were all taken from a distance, filled with envy.

As for inviting her friends over, Xu Mo never dared to meet them again.

“My family, they’ve all been dead for a long time!”

“They were all dead and gone eighteen years ago!”

Recalling these words, Xu Xuehui’s heart trembled.
