Presumably after attending to Xu Junzhe, Xie Bingyan came over.
Xu Junzhe still needed to practice questions and complete test papers. Half a month ago, Xie Bingyan had already issued a directive in the family group chat, stating that everything in the household should revolve around Junzhe’s college entrance exam.
No event should impact Xu Junzhe’s exam preparation. Therefore, during this period, Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming did not bring up Xu Mo’s situation.
Sensitive to the appearance of their biological son, they were cautious not to make Junzhe feel like an outsider. Hence, they showed him extra attention whenever possible.
“Mom! Why are you here?” Xu Wanting hurriedly welcomed Xie Bingyan.
“Xuehui is here too? Perfect, saves me the trouble of having to find you later!” Xie Bingyan nodded upon seeing Xu Xuehui walk in.
“Mom, has Junzhe started working on the test papers?”
Xie Bingyan nodded, looking pained, and said, “Junzhe has been working hard during this period. It seems that household matters have been disturbing him, affecting his performance in chemistry. I’ve advised him to stay calm, avoid overthinking, and aim to excel during the college entrance exam!”
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui exchanged glances but remained silent.
“Wanting, Xuehui, can both of you try to take a few more days off this month to help your brother? Especially you, Xuehui. You’re a university teacher, and you have many connections at school. I heard that this time Xiahai University had many teachers involved in setting the exam papers. See if you can gather some information on the questions?” Xie Bingyan looked at Xu Xuehui.
Upon hearing this, Xu Xuehui hurriedly said, “Mom, you can’t just casually inquire about the exam questions for the college entrance exam! That’s classified information!”
“Just subtly gather information from them. You don’t have to ask for specific questions! Understanding the situation will help you guide Junzhe better!” Xie Bingyan replied.
Feeling somewhat helpless, Xu Xuehui reluctantly agreed, “Alright, I’ll try to find out through my contacts! But if I can’t get any information, don’t blame me!”
“Moreover, since you have fewer university classes, why not take a few extra days off and come back? Junzhe needs your guidance. Wanting, you too. Put aside the company matters for now. Junzhe’s college entrance exam is the top priority this month!” Xie Bingyan addressed Xu Wanting.
After a brief silence, Xu Wanting spoke up, “Mom, I can help Junzhe with his studies, but what about Xu Mo?”
Xie Bingyan was taken aback.
“Mom, you haven’t forgotten that Xu Mo is also preparing for the college entrance exam, have you?”
“Why bring up that ungrateful child? Just mentioning him makes me furious!” Xie Bingyan exclaimed in anger.
“Mom, you’ve prepared so many tonics for Junzhe, even costly ones imported from abroad. Shouldn’t we also prepare something for Xu Mo? His health is not as robust!” Xu Wanting interjected quickly.
“Prepare something for him? Is he deserving of such things? Wanting, have you even considered what he has done? He dared to point a knife at me, at your father! Such blatant disrespect, I won’t give him a single bit to consume!” Xie Bingyan fumed, truly enraged.
Xu Wanting’s expression faltered, unsure of what to say in that moment.
“Don’t bother about Xu Mo. That ungrateful child will come crawling back to me sooner or later! If I don’t discipline him for his insolence this time, I won’t deserve to be called Xie!” Xie Bingyan declared coldly.
“But, if Xu Mo doesn’t prepare, and his exam doesn’t go well…”
“With his grades, even if he does well, where can he go? In this mediocre 27th school, even if he ranks first or second, what good would that do? Can he enter Tsinghua University or a prestigious 211 university?” Xie Bingyan scoffed, “He’s simply a pile of mud that can’t be lifted! I’d like to see how he manages on his own out there! Without the support of our Xu family, they are nothing!”
Looking at Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui, Xie Bingyan continued, “Don’t blame me for not providing for him! If he had even half of Junzhe’s obedience, diligence, and politeness, I wouldn’t let him go hungry! Look at him now, becoming more and more unruly, more and more lawless!”
“Mom, initially you only gave Xu Mo 500 yuan a month. How is that enough to live on?”
“What’s not enough about it? Isn’t 500 yuan pocket money sufficient? He can eat at home, won’t starve, will he? Furthermore, I give him 500 yuan every month, and yet he behaves so insolently, pointing a knife at us! If I give him more, what would that achieve?” Xie Bingyan’s anger flared, “I know his deep-rooted bad habits, those behaviors he picked up at the orphanage. If we don’t rectify them completely, he’ll always be a pile of mud that can’t be molded! I tried to discipline him a bit, and he defied me like this. I’ve told your father; this time, we must properly deal with him!”
“We can’t joke about the college entrance exam though. If Xu Mo doesn’t pass, what will he do in the future?” Xu Wanting tried to advise.
“What good will it do if he doesn’t pass? He brought this upon himself! Wanting, did you go see him again?” Xie Bingyan looked at Xu Wanting.
