Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 225

Chapter 225: “Please Don’t Poison Anyone Again, Okay?”

Xie Bingyan was in her room, spiraling into a state of isolation.

She had made several calls to friends and relatives, only to be met with vague promises to “look into it.” But since the person she was up against was Xu Mo, the CEO of a massive conglomerate worth 200 billion yuan, who was also allied with several prominent families, most people admitted they were powerless to help.

The medical report was discarded to the side, and her tablet, displaying the horrifying symptoms of palladium poisoning, lay forgotten as well. The room was in shambles, with various items scattered across the floor. Xu Deming had just  burst in earlier, and they had a violent altercation with her again.

He had pulled her hair, slapped her, and even swung a table lamp at her head. Xie Bingyan wasn’t one to take it lying down, and she fought back fiercely, leaving scratch marks on his hands and back, some of which had bled onto the bedding.

Now, she was a mess—disheveled hair, a dirty and bruised face, and a swollen arm where Xu Deming had hit her. He seemed genuinely intent on strangling her.

“No one is more vicious than you, Xie Bingyan!” Xu Deming had screamed at her, his voice filled with venom.

“You’re a mother? Give me back my son!”

His ranting continued as he stormed outside, still shouting, “How dare you poison someone, Xie Bingyan? Why don’t you just die? Everything would be better if you were dead!”

“Xie Bingyan, I’ll strangle you to death first!”

Another loud bang erupted from outside the door, as if Xu Deming had thrown something heavy against it, nearly breaking it down.

Xie Bingyan didn’t respond, her eyes hollow and expression vacant as she lay motionless on her pillow.

She wasn’t one to surrender easily.

She had never bowed her head in defeat her entire life.

No matter how much Xu Deming raged, it was useless.

Now, as she stared at the handwriting on the medical report, all she could feel was an overwhelming coldness, a piercing pain that seemed to freeze her blood.

She shivered uncontrollably, hurriedly pulling the blood-stained blanket over herself, but still, the chill remained.

“Ma’am, who are you? Why did you bring me food?”

“This is jerky, it’s so good. I haven’t had meat in a long time!”

“Ma’am, I have to go collect trash now. Goodbye, and thank you for the food!”

“Merciful Bodhisattva, please, I beg of you, grant me some charity!”

“This older sister is so pretty, can you give me some money? We haven’t eaten today!”

She walked over, grabbing Xu Shuying and Xu Yuanchan, and snatched the money from the little beggar’s hand.

“This is a scam! Don’t give money to random people! This little beggar is just a child and is out here deceiving people!”

She stuffed the few coins she had taken back into Xu Shuying and Xu Yuanchan’s pockets and walked away.

“That child… does he cry a lot?”

“Oh? You’re talking about this child? He doesn’t cry much, he’s very strong! He’s quite mischievous, always running around and hard to manage…”

“Oh!”

That was a long time ago, and her memories of it were already blurred. She hadn’t thought about those times for a long while.

At first, she had visited the orphanage secretly, but as time went by, she stopped going and had no idea what the child had grown up to be like.

Later, at a theme park, she encountered several children begging. Despite the many years that had passed, she recognized them at first glance.

That was her children!

On that day, she had also found out that Xu Deming was meeting with another mistress, and feeling vengeful, she slapped him several times.

After Xu Shuying gave him some money, he refused to return it. Only after being slapped did he obediently give it back.

She recognized him!

Though he seemed unfamiliar now.

His hair was long and unkempt, and he wore tattered clothes. It was clear he hadn’t been properly cared for in a long time.

“This child… has always been stubborn and unwilling to give in! But he’s a good kid…” the head of the orphanage said. That year, he was fourteen and had started to become more aware of things.

A series of images began to pass through her mind, once blurry but now becoming clearer. There was no one to help him grow up, no one to shield him from the storm when he needed it the most.

“Knock knock knock!”

Suddenly, there was a knocking sound at the door, which was slowly pushed open. Xu Xuehui walked in, carrying some items.

Xu Xuehui seemed to have been crying, with red eyes and traces of tears.

After entering, she glanced at the chaotic room, then straightened a table and placed the food on it.

Due to the family emergency, Xu Xuehui had taken a few days off work, staying close to both of them. As she laid out the food, she said, “Mom, please eat something. You haven’t eaten for two days.”

Xie Bingyan didn’t look at her, her expression blank and motionless.

The memories in her mind became clearer and clearer.

Xu Xuehui walked over, glanced at the test report, then put it away. She also looked at the documents on the tablet and set them aside.

“Palladium is terrifying! When Fifth sister heard about it, she was shocked! A few years ago, she predicted that if the levels in the blood were any higher, Xu Mo might have ended up as a living dead or in a vegetative state!”

“That year, Xu Mo also seemed to have heart problems, severe anemia, and was extremely emaciated. If he had fallen ill, it would have compounded his conditions!”

“But it’s all in the past now! Xu Mo should be fine now.”

Xu Xuehui put away the tablet. “Please eat something. If you don’t eat, you won’t have the strength to deal with Dad if he comes over later!”

Xie Bingyan’s expression remained vacant and dazed, but she gave Xu Xuehui a faint glance.

“He never had the chance to eat properly at home! If he had been able to eat well, he might have been stronger! But… even so, neither I nor my older sister want you to kill him or strangle him!”

“Mom, please don’t poison anyone again, okay?”

Xie Bingyan trembled upon hearing this and struggled to rise, but her body was too weak, and she almost collapsed.

Xu Xuehui was alarmed and quickly supported her.

“Mom, don’t move! You’re already bleeding! Let me bandage you up first. Eat something, okay?”

“Even if Xu Mo is in the wrong, he wouldn’t want to see you in trouble! Even if you wanted to strangle him, he didn’t do anything!”

“Xu Mo definitely wouldn’t want to see our family destroyed!”

Xie Bingyan’s gaze locked onto Xu Xuehui immediately. Xu Xuehui’s nose seemed to tingle, and tears welled up in her eyes.

“Tomorrow, I’ll go see Xu Mo and see if we can resolve the money laundering issue. Xu Mo… has a soft heart. Don’t worry too much!”

Xu Xuehui’s words made Xie Bingyan restless again. She struggled to get up, but her body swayed weakly and lacked strength.

Seeing this, Xu Xuehui hurriedly stopped her, tears streaming down her face.

“Mom, do you still want to keep doing things like this? It’s already reached this point—can’t you just calm down for a while? How long do you intend to continue this? Do you really want Xu Mo to die before you’re satisfied?”

“Wuwuwu, you can’t kill him! He’s already gone! He will never come back home! No matter what, you can’t kill him!”

Xu Xuehui suddenly broke down and cried uncontrollably.
