Xie Bingyan looked deeply at Xu Xuehui, saying nothing, enveloped in silence.
At this moment, she had no appetite at all. She wanted to go to Xu Wanting’s room, hoping to recall some memories she might have lost, memories she desperately wanted to retrieve…
Her heart was in deep, deep pain.
…
Things had reached their final stages, and Xu Mo was following the plan.
Right now, Xu Junzhe and Liu Kaikang were likely under immense pressure. Their funds were tied up, and they couldn’t withdraw from Fengxiang Jewelry for the time being. Xu Junzhe needed at least two months to restructure the board.
These two months were a race against time; any delay would result in significant losses.
Xu Mo, of course, wouldn’t let Xu Junzhe carry out his plans easily. He contacted some officers and asked them to investigate Fengxiang Jewelry’s general manager’s office for evidence.
“Sorry, Mr. Xu, we’ve received a report accusing you of tax evasion and money laundering. We need to search your office. Here’s the warrant—please take a look.”
That day, while Xu Junzhe was busy in his office, anxiously making calls, a few officers, ignoring the secretary’s attempts to stop them, barged into his office with documents in hand, demanding to conduct a search.
The lead officer held up the search warrant, instructing Xu Junzhe to step aside as they secured his office and began reviewing the files on his computer.
Without a doubt, upon witnessing the scene, Xu Junzhe was nearly paralyzed with fear, his legs almost giving way. He frantically called for his secretary and security to stop the investigation, but the police were firm, immediately handcuffing them and setting them aside.
“Please take a look at the search warrant! If you continue to resist, we have the authority to detain you, Mr. Xu!” The portly officer in charge handed him the warrant.
Xu Junzhe, trying to maintain a façade of anger, shouted, “Who sent you? Who reported us? We run a legitimate business; we’ve never evaded taxes or engaged in illegal activities…”
“Who reported you is not your concern at the moment. Whether or not you’ve committed any crimes, we’ll determine after a thorough investigation,” the officer responded with a strict, by-the-book attitude, giving Xu Junzhe no room to argue. With everyone cuffed, they meticulously searched the office, scrutinizing the documents on the desk, the files on the computer, and every item in the cabinets.
Xu Junzhe’s face turned pale, unsure of what the police might uncover. He remained silent, but fortunately, the lead officer, a portly man, seemed to find nothing incriminating.
“Pack it up!” the lead officer commanded, then turned to Xu Junzhe. “Apologies, Mr. Xu. Our investigation is temporarily concluded. Thank you for your cooperation.”
“What did you find?” Xu Junzhe demanded angrily.
“That’s not something you need to know at this time, Mr. Xu. If there’s anything, we’ll be in touch,” the officer replied curtly.
Xu Junzhe clenched his fists, but he held back from asking further questions.
“One more thing,” the officer added as if suddenly remembering something. He pulled out a document and handed it to Xu Junzhe. “Someone asked us to deliver this to you. Please keep it safe. We’ll be on our way now.”
Xu Junzhe took the document, his expression growing even more serious as he glanced at it.
The police left quickly, though their presence had already stirred fear and concern among the employees.
Xu Junzhe quickly returned to his office and took out the document to take a closer look. There were no visible markings on the outside—just a simple envelope. With a swift motion, he tore it open and pulled out an A4 sheet of paper.
On the paper, a few large characters were written: “Xu Wanting, Gao Cai’er! Signed: Xu Mo!”
In an instant, Xu Junzhe’s face turned ashen.
How had Xu Wanting ended up in prison back then? It was due to cutting corners, deceiving clients, and being involved in embezzlement—charges that had led to her downfall.
Back then, to seize control of Fengxiang Jewelry, Xu Junzhe had resorted to many underhanded tactics. If not for those actions, he wouldn’t have successfully become the CEO of Fengxiang Jewelry.
Xu Junzhe vividly remembered that Xu Deming had several candidates in mind for the position. Whether it was Xu Mo, Xu Wanting, or himself, any of them would have been strong contenders.
Despite Gao Cai’er’s persuasion at the time, Xu Junzhe knew deep down that it wasn’t entirely against his own will. Now, with Xu Mo bringing up this matter again, it was clear that the police had been summoned by him.
Xu Junzhe realized that Xu Mo intended to expose the incident. If the Xu family learned of what had transpired, they would undoubtedly come after him with fury. Among everyone, perhaps only Xu Mo fully understood the situation, knowing exactly who was responsible for what had happened.
“Is he targeting me? Or the entire Xu family? No, no, his target must have been me all along!” Xu Junzhe muttered through gritted teeth.
Years ago, Xu Mo had taken action against Xu Wanting, orchestrating the downfall of Deverna, though he had stopped short of sending Xu Wanting to prison. If this incident were to be exposed, it would undoubtedly tarnish Xu Junzhe’s image within the Xu family, potentially revealing his true intentions.
“My position isn’t secure yet! The board hasn’t been reformed, and my role as CEO could be stripped away at any moment! Damn it! Damn it! What is it that he wants?” Xu Junzhe cursed, frustration and fear boiling over as he struggled to comprehend Xu Mo’s ultimate goal.
Before Xu Junzhe could fully drain Fengxiang Jewelry, he naturally didn’t want his true intentions to be exposed, especially at this critical juncture. He still needed the Xu family name as a cover. But now, was Xu Mo striking at his most vulnerable point?
A deep sense of dread washed over Xu Junzhe.
…
On the other side, Xu Mo quickly received word of the situation.
Sending the police to investigate Xu Junzhe had been part of his plan all along. He needed to keep pressing down on Xu Junzhe, applying constant pressure until Xu Junzhe was consumed by fear and anxiety.
Only then would Xu Junzhe abandon the Xu family and turn his aggression toward Xie Bingyan or Xu Deming.
Once the matter concerning Xu Wanting was exposed, there would be no way for Xu Junzhe to reconcile with the Xu family. Xu Mo was determined to push things to the limit.
In the end, Xu Junzhe would have no choice but to either kill Xu Deming or Xie Bingyan.
For Xu Mo, the greatest joy in life was many things, but right now, what he most wanted to see was their mutual destruction.
Moreover, it had to be Xu Junzhe himself who did the killing; if someone else did it, it would lose its significance!
“He can’t go abroad anymore! The escape routes are nearly blocked. Liu Kaikang is also trapped and won’t be able to help Xu Junzhe escape in the short term! So… the next step is straightforward: keep intensifying the pressure!”
“Will he really go through with it?” Li Banzhuang asked, somewhat skeptical.
“He will! He definitely will!” Xu Mo replied.
In fact, Xu Junzhe had contemplated such actions in his previous life, or he wouldn’t have made things clear in front of Xu Manni.
In his previous life, Xu Junzhe was willing to kill members of the Xu family to completely seize their assets. Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming had both been involved in accidents.
The difference this time is that Xu Junzhe must personally kill Xie Bingyan. Xu Mo would not give him any other option.
“This time, the police didn’t find anything, right?” Li Banzhuang asked.
“Not this time! But next time, it’s not certain!” Xu Mo replied with a smile, turning around. “Let’s go! We’ll have dinner first, and then the real show will begin!”
Li Banzhuang looked at him, paused for a moment, and couldn’t help but smile.
Recently, they had all been very busy. Xu Mo was considering stepping down as CEO of Pinduoduo, letting someone else take over. He needed to focus on managing the short video platform and the chip business.
No matter what was happening with the Xu family and Fengxiang Jewelry, everything was running smoothly on their end!
