Due to Xu Xuehui’s unexpected leave from work, the plans targeting her were unable to proceed. Someone was keeping a close watch on her every move, waiting for her to step outside.
Xu Deming was still in a state of agitation, increasingly furious and intent on tearing into Xie Bingyan. After a few words from Xu Shuying, Xu Deming eventually calmed down and decided to seek out Xu Mo to inquire about the situation.
The family had already been in disarray, and with the latest incident, there was no way Xu Deming could forgive Xie Bingyan. The rift between them had become irreparable.
Xie Bingyan was in no mood to eat. She had considered going out but was too weak to manage. In just two days, half of her hair had turned white, and deep wrinkles had appeared, making her look haggard.
Seeing this, Xu Xuehui had no choice but to help her back to bed and feed her some food. Exhausted, Xie Bingyan fell into a deep sleep after only a few bites. Xu Xuehui quickly covered her with a blanket.
At this moment, Xie Bingyan began to talk in her sleep, mumbling incoherently about poisoning and other things. Xu Xuehui, troubled by the scene and feeling a twinge of discomfort and disdain for her mother’s malevolence, withdrew quietly from the room.
Time quickly passed. Xie Bingyan, exhausted, slept for most of the day before waking up. When she finally roused, her condition had not improved; she stumbled weakly toward the door.
She wanted to find a room but suddenly remembered that this room was not in Beijing but in Xiahai City.
Xie Bingyan paused in confusion and decided to check Xu Wanting’s room instead.
Xu Wanting had already left home, seemingly with no plans to return. She had decided to marry and have children in the mountainous area and had not told anyone her location to avoid being found.
Xie Bingyan, swaying as she searched the room, did not find what she was looking for, and her face filled with disappointment.
She remembered that before Xu Wanting left, she had given her some documents, which she later discarded.
She had once flipped through one of the pages and saw a sentence written on it, but she could not recall exactly what it said.
She remembered that Xu Wanting had been very upset when she discarded it, seeming to cry as she picked it up.
What was that sentence?
—
“Someone poisoned him, who was it? Who could it be?” Xie Bingyan felt her cheeks were wet, and she didn’t remember doing such a thing.
Perhaps she did, or perhaps she didn’t, but she clearly remembered that she did not know about the existence of palladium.
According to Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui and others, it was her doing, but she knew that it was not her, but someone else.
Xu Manni, Xu Pandi, or perhaps, the sixth one, or…
Xie Bingyan felt a headache coming on, her mind in disarray, making it hard to remember things. All she knew now was that if someone really did poison him, she must find out who did it!
“Zhao ma, Zhao Ma, help, help me buy a plane ticket! I want to go back to Xiahai City!” Xie Bingyan, weak and intermittently speaking, was barely able to articulate her request.
—
Xu Xuehui and Xu Shuying were surprised by Xie Bingyan’s desire to return to Xiahai City and inquired about her reasons for wanting to go back.
However, Xie Bingyan remained tight-lipped, falling into silence.
Xiahai City still had servants managing it, and Uncle Li was also there, but they hadn’t stayed there for some time.
Xie Bingyan hadn’t returned there for a long time either.
It was unclear what Xie Bingyan intended to do upon returning, so Xu Xuehui and Xu Shuying decided to accompany her for the time being.
“I inquired a bit and found out that Xu Mo’s health has indeed recovered! When he was studying at Tsinghua University, he never mentioned any health issues!”
“However, it seems there have been some problems with Xu Mo’s company. Someone is attacking their company’s website, causing a large number of users to be unable to log in, resulting in severe losses! Reports say it’s at least a few billion!”
“Also, in the stock market, they seem to be facing difficulties lately, with a lot going on!”
…
On the plane, Xu Shuying intermittently discussed various things, most of which were related to Xu Mo. She seemed worried that Xie Bingyan might encounter problems and continued, “Mom, you should stop dwelling on the past! It’s been many years; perhaps Xu Mo doesn’t even care about it anymore!”
Upon hearing this, Xie Bingyan glanced at her but remained silent.
She hadn’t done any of these things.
She hadn’t harbored such intentions!
So who could it be?
The plane landed in Xiahai City quickly, but just as they touched down, a call came in—it was from Xu Deming to Xu Shuying.
“Fifth, where are you?” Xu Deming roared, his voice filled with anger and urgency.
“We’re in Xiahai City, coming back with Mom to check on things!”
“Why are you in Xiahai City? We just received news that there’s been an accident in Chaoyang District. Xie Zhen said it was Xu Mo’s car!”
Xu Shuying’s face turned pale upon hearing this.
“Is it Xie Bingyan? Is she the one?” Xu Deming yelled, sounding extremely frantic.
Xu Shuying was stunned, then turned to look at Xie Bingyan, who was trembling slightly: “Mom, did you… did you do something to Xu Mo? Is that why you hurriedly left Beijing?”
Xie Bingyan didn’t hear what was said on the phone and immediately looked at Xu Shuying.
“Mom, say something! Was it you? Did you do it?” Xu Shuying began to cry. “Why would you do something like this? Why are you so vicious? Isn’t he your son? How could you have someone crash into him?”
Xie Bingyan was stunned upon hearing this.
“Xie Bingyan, you won’t have a good end!”
Finally, Xu Deming’s furious roar came through the phone, hysterical.
“Dad, I’ll come back immediately! Is Xu Mo alright? Is he injured? I’m flying back right now!” Hearing this, Xu Shuying decided to leave immediately and booked a new flight.
Xu Xuehui, who was also shocked by Xie Bingyan’s extreme actions, looked pale and quickly asked Xu Shuying what happened.
“Wuwu, Dad said Xu Mo was in a car accident! It was notified by Second Uncle! It must be a serious matter!” Xu Shuying said through her tears, glancing at Xie Bingyan with disgust.
Xie Bingyan trembled all over upon hearing this.
“I’m going back too!” Xu Xuehui gave Xie Bingyan a deep look, clenched her fists, and immediately left to reboard a plane.
Seeing this, Xie Bingyan felt as if all the blood in her body had instantly frozen.
She watched Xu Xuehui and Xu Shuying’s retreating figures, opening her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, no words came out.
A car crash?
A crash?
She confirmed it again!
Xie Bingyan’s face showed a hint of struggle. She wanted to rush back to see what happened, but she found that she couldn’t move her feet.
Standing there for a long time, her legs gave way, and she collapsed onto the ground.
The scene suddenly became chaotic, with some security guards rushing over to help her up and take her to the hospital.
Despite the many sounds around her, suddenly, she couldn’t hear anything at all.
All that was in her mind were two words: “Crash?”
