Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 5.1

Chapter 5: He Only Gets Five Hundred Yuan Pocket Money Every Month?

Before long, the sound of a revving car engine resounded outside again, and another young woman drove back home.

Three girls got out of the car: one in a women’s suit, one in a white lab coat, and another in casual attire, all exuding grace and elegance.

The one in casual attire was Xu Xuehui, the second elder sister, a university music teacher.

The one in the women’s suit was Xu Pandi, the fourth elder sister, an elite lawyer known for her meticulousness.

And the one in the white lab coat was Xu Shuying, the fifth elder sister, a surgeon at a hospital.

“When did you lose touch with Xu Mo? None of you have ever bought him a phone?” Xie Bingyan inquired.

“No! Last year, I deleted his WeChat and contacts. He used to call me frequently, disrupting my work!” Xu Shuying responded.

“I did the same!” Xu Xuehui added. “Last year, when I was outside, he suddenly showed up, almost getting caught by people inside the school. I had to delete him! Sometimes he’d call me while I was teaching, and I couldn’t tolerate it without blocking him!”

Xie Bingyan hadn’t expected so many people to have deleted Xu Mo’s contacts and WeChat. She was somewhat surprised and turned to look at Xu Pandi.

“What about you, Xu Pandi? Did you delete his WeChat and contacts too?”

“Well, can you blame me? Sometimes I’d be in court, and he’d keep messaging me. How could I stand it?” Xu Pandi said innocently. “If I didn’t delete him, he’d probably harass me just like he did with Elder Sister!”

“Exactly! Mom, Xu Mo is simply unbearable! You don’t know, once he even came to our school looking for me! Who does he think he is?” Xu Xuehui exclaimed. “If I hadn’t deleted him, he probably wouldn’t have stopped! But now, it’s fine. He doesn’t dare bother us at all!”

Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming looked at their daughters, frowning.

“What about you, Eldest Daughter? Did you do the same?”

As the eldest sister, Xu Wanting actually had a decent relationship with Xu Mo. She remembered that when Xu Mo first returned to the Xu family, he often came to chat with her, and she treated him kindly.

According to Xie Bingyan’s thinking, Xu Wanting probably wouldn’t have deleted him.

Xu Wanting looked at everyone, hesitating for a moment before answering.

“I didn’t delete him, but I did block him! At the end of last year, he came to our company, and I had no choice but to have the security kick him out!”

“So, no one in the family has his contact information now?” Xie Bingyan understood and her face darkened.

“So, none of us even know if Xu Mo has a phone now? What number he might have?” Xu Manni grumbled. “No wonder we’re in this mess! Who asked him to be so annoying? Mom, don’t worry. He’ll come back slinking in a few days! We can ask him then! Let me make it clear, I’m definitely not adding him on WeChat or saving his phone number again. He’s too much trouble!”

“Me neither!”

“I won’t either, definitely not!”

Both Second Elder Sister and Fifth Elder Sister chimed in.

Xie Bingyan sighed at this and then turned to Xu Wanting. “Eldest Daughter, you and Fourth Elder Sister go to Xu Mo’s room and see if you can find any of his contact information.”

“Oh!” Xu Wanting and Fourth Elder Sister Xu Pandi didn’t say much and headed towards Xu Mo’s room.

Xu Mo’s room was on the second floor of the villa.

Originally a maid’s room, it was narrow and small. When Xu Mo returned, to ensure he didn’t cause any trouble for the Xu family, they temporarily assigned him this room.

At that time, Xu Deming and Xie Bingyan’s argument was that if Xu Mo could achieve the academic results they expected, he could move to another room.

Xu Mo was quite satisfied with this arrangement and was overjoyed when he first came in.

Now, looking back, he had been living in this small room for four years, and the family hadn’t given him a new one.

“Elder Sister, what’s wrong with Xu Mo? Cutting off ties? It’s just laughable! Who taught him that?” Fourth Elder Sister Xu Pandi sneered.

Xu Wanting glanced at her, furrowing her brow. “Fourth Sister, do you know that Xu Mo lost his phone at the end of last year?”

Xu Pandi paused for a moment, then chuckled. “Yeah, I know! But how does that concern me? It’s not like I lost his phone for him!”

“You knew, but you didn’t buy him a new one?” Xu Wanting stared at her.

“Why should I? Don’t blame me, Elder Sister! Neither Mom nor Dad bought him one, so why should I? Besides, you didn’t buy one either, did you?” Xu Pandi replied, looking innocent.

Upon hearing this, Xu Wanting sighed. “I only heard that  from Mom five days ago,  and that Dad and Mom gave him a beating, and they even hurt his head.”

“What?” Xu Pandi was astonished, her eyes wide. “So, is he really going to leave our family?”

Xu Wanting fell silent, her expression grave, and quickly walked to Xu Mo’s room. Pushing the door open and taking a glance inside, she couldn’t help but pause.

“Huh?” Xu Pandi was also surprised.

Inside the room, everything was spotless, with hardly any clutter. The blankets were neatly folded, resembling tofu blocks, placed meticulously in order.

The room was quite small, probably only about six or seven square meters, just enough to accommodate a bed, two bedside tables, and a wardrobe. With these items placed inside, it already looked very cramped.

On the bedside table, there was a photo frame with several pictures, most of them family portraits. On the windowsill, there were a few jars of green plants and some wooden dolls, with no other clutter in sight.

Xu Wanting was surprised by the condition of Xu Mo’s room. “Sister, how long has it been since you last visited Xu Mo’s room?”

“Huh? I’ve never been here before!” Xu Pandi said. “It’s quite neat! Let’s search around; maybe we’ll find his contact information.”

With that, they began searching inside.

They opened the wardrobe and found several pieces of clothing hanging inside. Other than that, there was nothing else.

“This piece of clothing…” Xu Wanting looked at the clothes in the wardrobe, furrowing her brows. “Sister, have you ever bought clothes for Xu Mo?”

“Why would I buy clothes for him? He never buys anything for me!” Xu Pandi replied.

“I seem to…” Xu Wanting paused for a moment, then said, “I seem to have bought one. It’s this one. When he first came back to the Xu family, I took him and Junzhe to buy it together! And this one, I remember it was bought by Second Sister for him! Also four years ago!”

Xu Pandi was puzzled. “Big sister, why are you talking about these? We’re looking for his contact information, aren’t we?”

“These shoes, I remember them too! They were bought by Fifth Sister for him!” Xu Wanting took out a pair of shoes from under the wardrobe, glanced at them, and furrowed her brows. “They still look new, as if they haven’t been worn!”

Ngl I don’t care about canon fodder. But I do like this style of story telling. Instead of the protagonist Recalling memories this gets to the point faster.
