Xu Mo’s face turned as black as ink, wondering why they kept coming to him. Xu Mo harbored no goodwill towards Xu Wanting and Xu Shuying, knowing they were no angels. If Xu Mo had died by their hands in a previous life, it wouldn’t have been an accident.
After a moment’s thought, Xu Mo turned to Tang Lei and said, “Tang Lei, you guys leave first! I’ll call you later!”
Tang Lei nodded and replied, “Okay!”
With that, he walked out.
“Oh, and get the security guard here. No need to keep unwanted guests in the office,” Xu Mo continued.
Upon hearing this, Tang Lei nodded and said, “Got it, I’ll call the security guard!”
The group quickly got up and headed out, holding their documents.
Seeing Xu Mo calling for the security guard, Xu Wanting couldn’t help but feel her eyes welling up.
The office was relatively simple, with minimal decoration. On the walls hung the words “Shared” in green letters, and beside them sat a yellow bike. On the other side, two bike wheels were placed, indicating they were likely discussing bike optimization.
Unlike the previous days, Xu Mo was dressed in a suit and shirt, exuding charisma with his polished appearance.
He is no longer the high school student who only wore school uniforms and was always untidy. He is no longer the follower who used to stick to them like a shadow.
Now Xu Mo feels very unfamiliar to them.
It seems that someone is calling the security outside, and Xu Wanting dare not hesitate. She hurriedly said, “Xu Mo, do you know that Mom is hospitalized? She’s in the ICU at the Fu Yi hospital!”
As soon as these words were spoken, Xu Mo’s darkened face visibly paused. He stared at them, silent, with an expressionless face.
“They just came back from abroad and got infected with the virus. They’re being treated at the Fu Yi hospital! Xu Mo, won’t you go see Mom?” Xu Wanting hurriedly continued.
At this, Xu Mo suddenly laughed.
Xu Wanting’s face froze.
“She’s not dead, is she?”
With sarcasm!
Xu Wanting immediately widened her eyes.
“Are you here to tell me to set off firecrackers? Or to go to the Fu Yi hospital?” Xu Mo had a happy look on his face. “If that’s really the case, then I really should buy a string of firecrackers to celebrate. Today is indeed a joyous day!”
Xu Wanting and Xu Shuying felt like they had fallen into an ice cave when they saw him laughing, their bodies suddenly feeling cold.
“Xu, Xu Mo, what are you saying? That’s our mom!” Xu Wanting said incredulously.
“That’s your mom, not mine. My mom passed away a long time ago, my whole family is dead,” Xu Mo said indifferently. “I don’t understand why you’re here? But the news you brought is quite good, worth celebrating!”
Xu Shuying felt uncomfortable listening to this, and hurriedly said, “Xu Mo, no matter what, you can’t say such things! Mom is still in the ICU for treatment! She’s infected with a virus, and she hasn’t passed the critical period yet. How can you say such things?”
“How should I say it then? Xu Shuying, how should I say these words?” Xu Mo suddenly looked at her with a smile. “Should I beg you? My good Fifth Sister, should I beg you to use your medical skills to treat her properly?”
“You…” Xu Shuying was taken aback by his words.
“Isn’t your medical skill quite high? Back then, many children in the orphanage were cured by you and your co-workers! I looked up to you a lot at that time!” Xu Mo smiled as he spoke, but suddenly, his expression changed, becoming icy cold.
“But not anymore, Xu Shuying. Not anymore. I’m no longer the silly little boy from back then. Don’t even think about using your damn family ties to manipulate me! Let me tell you, I don’t recognize them anymore. I disown them all now!”
“I should really buy a few strings of firecrackers and go to the Xiahai City General Hospital to set them off! Finally admitted to the ICU for treatment, it’s truly a joyous occasion! This is the best news I’ve received today!”
Xu Wanting’s tears were already flowing. “Xu Mo, sob, I’m sorry, I apologize to you. It’s all because of me…”
Xu Mo didn’t even glance at her, then suddenly laughed again. “Infected with a virus after returning from abroad? Was it with that adopted son? When did you go? Having fun? Feeling happy? It must have been quite enjoyable these past few days! I know what you’re thinking, but your retribution has only just begun!”
“Xu Mo, even though I’ve wronged you too, our mother is still fighting for her life. No matter what, you can’t just refuse to visit her. Saying such things is too chilling!” Xu Shuying couldn’t help but speak up.
Xu Mo chuckled. “Is that so? Does my words chill your heart? Did your words back then not chill mine? Don’t be naive, Xu Shuying, do you think I don’t know what kind of nonsense you are? You want me to go see her now? Sure, I can send her a coffin!”
Xu Shuying was shocked, her eyes wide open.
“Do you want me to send her a coffin? If you do, I can go take a look!” Xu Mo stared at her, his expression turning fierce. “Let me tell you, Xu Shuying, whether you live or die, it has nothing to do with me. I don’t want to have any relationship with you Xu family anymore! Even if all the Xu family members die, I won’t bat an eye! And Xu Shuying, I still have many scores to settle with you. In the future, I will slowly settle them with you. Don’t think you can escape from these debts!”
Xu Shuying’s face turned pale, and she opened her mouth slightly.
“Mr. Xu, did you call for me?” At this moment, two security guards approached.
“Escort these two out for me, and make sure they never enter the office again!” Xu Mo instructed the security guards.
Then he turned to Xu Wanting and Xu Shuying. “We are no longer family ..>>”
With that, Xu Mo turned away, gazing out of the window.
“Xu Mo, I’m sorry…” Xu Wanting began to cry.
The two security guards, taken aback by the scene, didn’t dare defy Xu Mo’s orders. They addressed the two women, “Ladies, please leave. We don’t want to have to escort you out.”
Tears blurred Xu Wanting’s vision, but she had no choice but to turn and leave.
Xu Shuying, visibly shocked by Xu Mo’s transformation, stood there with a pale face, her mouth slightly agape, seemingly wanting to say something but ultimately remaining silent.
The two were quickly ushered out by the security guards to leave from the Mingding Building.
As they stepped outside, Xu Wanting suddenly collapsed to the ground, wailing uncontrollably.
Seeing her like this, Xu Shuying’s eyes welled up with tears.
“We’ve let him down! We’ve let him down!” Xu Wanting sobbed.
Xu Shuying felt uneasy too, sighing, “Big sister Wanting, please get up.”
“If it weren’t for us, he wouldn’t have become like this! Shuying, it’s all because of us!” Xu Wanting couldn’t stop her tears, crying, “Now he doesn’t even want to see Mom! He might never come back home again!”
Xu Shuying sighed helplessly. “Let’s go back and take care of Mom and Dad first! Taking care of them is the priority now. As for Xu Mo… if he’s willing to go see her, then he will. If he’s not… we can’t force him!”
“Didn’t you hear what he said? This isn’t over! He really, really hates us, he wishes we were dead!” Xu Wanting cried out. “Shuying, we’ve both let him down!”
Thinking back to the times when Xu Mo shared his joy with her, when he shared the scenes of his achievements, and then recalling the mockery and ridicule in their sister group chat, Xu Shuying felt a wave of regret and guilt wash over her.
She remembered a time when she had screenshot Xu Mo’s messages and sent them to the chat group to mock him. Back then, she had felt quite pleased with herself.
She must have been a heartless person, very, very heartless. And now, Xu Mo had become even more heartless, with a demeanor that would surely surpass her. Xu Shuying couldn’t help feeling a pang of panic.
…
As they stood outside the Mingding Building, Xu Wanting remained crouched at the entrance, crying for quite some time. When she returned to the hospital, her eyes were red from crying.
With no other options, the two of them could only return to the hospital dejectedly.
Xu Xuehui was taken aback when she saw them return and hurriedly asked, “Xu Mo isn’t with you?”
Xu Wanting didn’t respond, instead sniffing back her tears.
Xu Shuying shook her head, also reluctant to discuss their meeting with Xu Mo.
Seeing this, Xu Xuehui’s eyes welled up with tears too.
She could imagine that the scene of the two of them meeting Xu Mo was definitely far from pleasant.
