In the following two days, everything was relatively calm.
Dealing with the issues of the Xu family left Xu Mo feeling increasingly frustrated.
However, Tang Lei and Gu Huanxi were right. They currently didn’t have much energy to spare on the Xu family’s affairs, nor did they have time to get entangled in them. The bike-sharing business had entered a new phase, and their investments needed to keep pace.
In addition, they had to report to Tsinghua University soon as the new semester was about to start.
Regardless, they needed to prioritize their studies first.
“We can slow down on the investments, no need to rush! Especially in stocks, we should observe more before making decisions!”
“The issue with the shops in Xiahai City, I’ve already scoped out the locations and I’m ready to acquire them! This is our long-term investment strategy. In real estate, we need to extend our investments over the long term—three years, five years, even ten years is possible!”
“For the funds, we need stability. The primary focus should be on stable investments!”
“Additionally, we can announce that we have funds available. If there are studios in the mobile gaming sector seeking investment, they can reach out to us! After our evaluation, we can invest! Whether it’s millions or tens of millions, it’s no problem!”
“Great!”
Xu Mo made several decisions.
Now they needed to pivot towards becoming angel investors and venture capitalists, with a primary focus on the mobile gaming sector.
Xu Mo was well aware that the coming years would be a boom period for mobile gaming.
This dividend period could last approximately seven to eight years. As long as his vision was clear enough, they could accumulate wealth without much difficulty.
Xu Mo had no intention of personally getting involved in game development because it wasn’t necessary. His team had no expertise in games, so his approach was to observe games developed by other studios and invest accordingly.
“Xu Mo, the analysis results for several products from Deverna are out,” Tang Lei handed him a report.
Xu Mo took it and glanced at it. “Good! Keep this for now.”
“Xu Mo, you’re not really going to play, are you? Deverna is no ordinary company!” Tang Lei expressed some concern.
“No problem,” Xu Mo replied calmly. “I know exactly what I’m doing. These are just contingency measures.”
“As long as you think it’s fine,” Tang Lei reassured him.
Xu Mo said nothing more, placing the documents into the safe.
He resumed his busy schedule, handling company affairs.
…
On the other side, at the Xu family villa, the atmosphere remained tense and oppressive.
Xu Deming and Xie Bingyan had a heated argument, objects were thrown, but Xie Bingyan still didn’t relent or explain why she had abandoned Xu Mo.
Xu Deming didn’t dare to do anything to Xie Bingyan.
The Xu family residence seemed grand, but compared to the Xie family, it was relatively insignificant. The Xie family itself was a prominent clan in the capital city.
Xie Bingyan used to be the beloved daughter of the Xie family.
Even amidst their intense arguments, Xu Deming never dared to lay a hand on Xie Bingyan.
Xie Bingyan, on the other hand, clearly had Xu Deming under her control, her eyes filled with disgust and disdain whenever she looked at him over the past two days.
Xu Wanting, Xu Xuehui, and the others had no idea what was happening and could only hide in their rooms, speculating about the situation.
“When Xuehui and I were studying away from home, we had no idea about these things! Shuying, you were probably too young to remember!” Xu Wanting said.
“Mom wouldn’t just abandon Xu Mo for no reason. There must have been a problem back then!” Xu Wanting speculated, her eyes swollen from crying.
“I’ve also suspected it was from back then,” Xu Xuehui spoke with a sorrowful expression. “Dad wanted a son, and grandparents wanted a grandson. It was non-negotiable. Mom kept giving birth to us one after another. Now, Mom easily falls ill and her health is weak—it’s the lingering root from back then! When Mom gave birth to Xu Mo, she even had a severe hemorrhage and nearly lost her life!”
Xu Shuying also speculated that the Xu family’s desperate desire for a son had pressured Xie Bingyan into continuous childbirth. However, if that was the only reason, it might not explain why Xie Bingyan abandoned Xu Mo to such an extent. There might have been other factors involved.
“For over a decade, Mom probably knew Xu Mo was at the East City Orphanage! She didn’t abandon him far away, which is why Xu Mo was eventually found!” Xu Wanting said. “But it’s clear that the knot from eighteen years ago still hasn’t been untied.”
Xu Shuying felt a chilling sensation throughout her body.
“Do you think Mom wanted to kill Xu Mo?” she suddenly asked.
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui’s faces froze, and they remained silent.
“From what I see now, it’s highly possible! She hates Xu Mo so much, it’s very likely she poisoned him!” Xu Shuying continued.
Xu Wanting didn’t want to believe such a thing and sniffed, “A tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs!”
Xu Xuehui and Xu Shuying fell silent, unsure whether to refute her statement.
“So, whether abandoning Xu Mo at the orphanage or bringing him back, Mom’s attitude remains the same—she wants to torment him?” Xu Shuying’s fingers were icy cold.
Xu Wanting and Xu Xuehui still couldn’t believe such a reality, remaining silent.
After a while, Xu Xuehui softly spoke, “Xu Mo was very happy when he came back home!”
“I know he was very happy!” Xu Shuying said. “Back then, I took him around, showing him everything! Whatever we saw, he would talk to me about it!”
“But it’s gone now! There won’t be any more of that!” Xu Xuehui’s eyes welled up again, and she sobbed softly, seeming deeply regretful.
Thinking back on the past, Xu Shuying also felt a wave of sadness.
What had happened to their Xu family?
Before, Xu Shuying had only thought of Xie Bingyan as stubborn and demanding, but she hadn’t imagined she could be so cruel.
If it was true that she had poisoned Xu Mo, it was truly terrifying.
“We all owe him an apology! We all do! Wah!” Xu Wanting cried out, unable to contain herself any longer.
…
On the other hand, Xu Junzhe also felt a sense of horror regarding the current situation in the Xu family.
Lately, the Xu family was engulfed in a deep-seated anger.
He had originally wanted to go and comfort Xie Bingyan, to show filial piety, but he was turned away at the door.
Xie Bingyan didn’t let him in.
This was a situation unprecedented in the past, leaving Xu Junzhe feeling at a loss.
Eighteen years ago, it was Xie Bingyan herself who personally abandoned Xu Mo!
If this was true, what did this mean for Xu Junzhe in the Xu family? Xu Junzhe suddenly dared not think about such implications.
In fact, he had known for a long time that he was an adopted child, a substitute, not biological. However, Xu Junzhe had never considered himself an outsider. In his heart, the Xu family was his family, and Xie Bingyan and Xu Deming were his parents, irreplaceable by anyone else.
But now, this sudden revelation told him that he wasn’t a substitute. The biological son wasn’t lost for no reason; it was Xie Bingyan herself who had lost him.
And for the past eighteen years, Xie Bingyan had always known where her biological son was and brought him back to the Xu family four years ago.
Xu Junzhe suddenly couldn’t determine his position within the Xu family.
He felt that delving deeper into this would be extremely, extremely frightening.
“Why did this happen? Xie Bingyan… Why would she do this?” Xu Junzhe’s heart was filled with a sense of anxiety and confusion, unable to understand Xie Bingyan’s motives.
…
“I’m telling you! Even if Xu Mo doesn’t come home, so what? I think it’s fine if he moves his household registration away! Why not let him leave?”
In the living room, Xu Manni and Xu Pandi were leisurely eating fruit, watching Xu Wanting and others talk.
Currently, within the entire Xu family, only the two of them seemed relatively calm and at ease.
“Xu Manni?” Xu Wanting stared at her.
“Elder sister! Haven’t you seen it too? Xu Mo simply doesn’t fit into our Xu family. He has so many issues, completely different from us! I don’t understand why we shouldn’t let him move out? Wasn’t it his own choice to leave? I think it’s quite good!” Xu Manni exclaimed, puzzled.
“I agree, Third Sister! He thinks he’s so great now, showing off with a Rolls-Royce. Clearly, he wants us to see! If he’s so capable now, I think it’s fine for him to move out!” Xu Pandi chimed in.
Xu Wanting angrily retorted, “Both of you, shut up! Since when is it your turn to speak?”
“Elder sister, I’m not wrong! What’s there to hesitate about?” Xu Manni insisted.
“Third sister, Xu Mo can’t leave the Xu family at this time! If he leaves, what will happen to the future of the Xu family?” Xu Shuying frowned and remarked.
