A deathly silence enveloped the surroundings, so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Gentle breezes wafted in from the east of Tsinghua Garden, swirling up a few willow branches.
Not far away, two black swans with several cygnets were in the stream. One of the female black swans picked up a fish from the water and fed it to one of the black swan cygnets, which ate with relish, chirping happily.
The family, full of joy, swam towards the other side.
Nearby, students from Tsinghua University passed by, but the atmosphere remained deathly silent, with not a sound to be heard.
An atmosphere of terror descended upon them.
Xu Deming was almost paralyzed on the ground, facing Xie Bingyan, his arms trembling.
Xie Bingyan, on the other hand, looked at him with deep resentment and a sense of satisfaction in her eyes.
It seemed that with the mystery unraveled, she could finally retaliate against Xu Deming, releasing a breath of pent-up resentment.
Xu Wanting had not expected things to turn out this way. Her face was pale as she could only support Xu Deming, preventing him from collapsing completely to the ground.
“Xie Bingyan, you’re so cruel, truly cruel!” Xu Deming said repeatedly.
“Cruel? Am I more cruel than you?” Xie Bingyan sneered, gritting her teeth: “He’s right. For the past eighteen years, I knew where he was, but I just didn’t bring him back! Even if I had brought him back four years ago, it would have been useless! Xu Deming, the day you cheated, you already foresaw the consequences. And now you call me cruel?”
“Just look at him! The orphanage has completely ruined his education; he’s a total waste! Your Xu family wanted him to inherit the family business, right? Hah, go ahead and let him inherit!”
Xie Bingyan’s face was filled with satisfaction.
“You’re crazy! You’ve completely lost it!” Xu Deming’s face turned pale with anger.
“Yes, I’m crazy! Back then, when I was still breastfeeding, I watched you sneak out to meet that vile woman on the very day I gave birth! Once, twice, three times… countless times! For your Xu family, I’ve exhausted my heart’s blood and my youth! You should have known this day would come!” Xie Bingyan spoke venomously.
“I’ve cut ties with her long ago; I have no relationship with her anymore!” Xu Deming roared.
“Does no relationship mean I shouldn’t hate? From the moment I found out, you were already dead to me!” Xie Bingyan sneered: “If I hadn’t sent someone to find that vile woman, would she have agreed to leave? Xu Deming, I don’t hate that vile woman; I especially hate you! Every time I see Xu Mo, I’m reminded of you and that woman being all lovey-dovey! I will never forget that for the rest of my life!”
“He’s your own flesh and blood, how could you bear it?” Xu Deming roared again: “If you have any issues, take them out on me! He’s your own son!”
“If it weren’t like this, how would you feel the pain? Now you can’t even bear it?” Xie Bingyan continued to sneer.
“Fine, fine, fine! You’ve completely lost it! I never thought it would be for this reason! You’re insane!” Xu Deming was already incoherent.
“I may be insane, but you’re not much better! If I’m not going to have a good time, neither will you!” Xie Bingyan retorted angrily.
“Insane, insane! Everyone’s gone mad!”
Xu Deming never expected things to turn out this way, and he felt a deep hatred in his heart.
Xie Bingyan seemed to have no desire to speak further. She suddenly sat down on a nearby stone chair, and a tear slid down from the corner of her eye.
Xu Junzhe watched this scene, feeling at a loss, suddenly not knowing what to do.
He seemed to understand the purpose behind Xie Bingyan adopting him. It turned out that he was also being used!
He was also a pawn!
He suddenly felt the wind was cold, his blood as if frozen, his whole body as if plunged into an icy cave.
Xu Junzhe didn’t dare to interfere in this matter.
He was afraid of the veil of secrecy being lifted, afraid of losing everything he had now. He didn’t even dare to comfort Xie Bingyan.
…
“Mom! None of us likes Xu Mo, and that we usually only put the blame on him, you know that?” Xu Wanting suddenly asked, looking at Xie Bingyan.
“I know,” Xie Bingyan replied.
“I even had someone beat him up!” Xu Wanting looked at Xie Bingyan.
“I know, but he wasn’t beaten to death,” Xie Bingyan said.
Xu Wanting was taken aback, suddenly feeling a chill run through her body.
Her expression was strained as she opened her mouth, wanting to continue asking questions, but she suddenly found herself unable to make a sound.
All of this was too terrifying.
Xie Bingyan had watched it all unfold with her own eyes. No wonder Xu Mo said she was as clear as a mirror!
“Then, Mom, why didn’t you let Xu Mo transfer his household registration away, to leave our Xu family?” After thinking for a moment, Xu Wanting finally spoke up.
Xie Bingyan remained silent, tears streaming down her face, already streaking her cheeks.
“Or could it be that you still consider Xu Mo your child, and you’re unwilling to let him go?” Xu Wanting continued to stare at Xie Bingyan.
Xie Bingyan remained silent, sniffling, the tears at the corners of her eyes increasing, her hands seemingly trembling.
She had personally destroyed her own child!
All for the sake of retaliating against her husband’s infidelity!
For over a decade, she had countless dreams about that child, tossing and turning all night, thinking and thinking, but the hatred in her heart grew stronger, becoming increasingly intolerable.
The fact that her husband had cheated on her during her breastfeeding period was like a steel needle viciously piercing her heart, making it impossible for her to rest or eat in peace.
Only the thought of retaliating against him could bring her any relief.
But, after all, he was her child.
He was the son she had carried for months.
No matter what, it was difficult to sever such a bond.
At this moment, Xie Bingyan felt an overwhelming sense of hatred.
…
Xu Wanting looked at her and immediately understood her thoughts and feelings, feeling extremely distressed herself.
In her view, Xie Bingyan was completely bringing suffering upon herself.
However, wasn’t she also a pitiful person? Xu Wanting didn’t know what to say; now, she was only worried about Xu Mo.
Upon learning that his birth mother had abandoned him and tried to poison him, Xu Mo had probably already given up on life.
No wonder, during that media interview, he had said without hesitation that they had all died off!
Xu Wanting couldn’t imagine the despair Xu Mo had experienced.
Thinking about how he had spent fourteen years in an orphanage, without anyone to rely on, hungry and cold, and then, after finally returning home, was abused by his own parents and siblings, Xu Wanting felt suffocated, hating herself deeply.
How did she not realize this sooner?
Why didn’t she wake up to this earlier?
…
Originally, the family had planned to enjoy a leisurely stroll through Tsinghua Garden, but now, everyone had lost interest.
Xu Deming, having learned the truth, wore a dark expression throughout.
Xie Bingyan didn’t give him any better looks, remaining silent, letting her tears flow.
Xu Wanting and Xu Manni could only head back first.
“Junzhe, you should focus on your studies! Go back to your dorm for now! We’ll deal with the rest later!”
“But what about Brother Mo…” Xu Junzhe wanted to ask.
Xu Wanting said, “This doesn’t concern you for the time being. We’ll talk about it later!”
She was too distraught to offer any further explanations.
“Alright!” Xu Junzhe didn’t want to interfere in this matter either. The Xu family was in disarray, and he couldn’t even find his own place within it.
He needed to find an opportunity to reclaim his position!
Xu Wanting escorted Xu Junzhe to school and then took Xu Deming and Xie Bingyan to the hotel.
Xie Bingyan reportedly needed to return to her maiden family. The Xie family was quite renowned in the capital, a prominent clan, and Xie Bingyan hadn’t been back in two years; she needed to go and visit her relatives.
Xu Deming also had to deal with matters at the branch company, so he left the hotel to handle them on his own.
“Manni, you stay at the hotel for now! Or go out and find someone to hang out with! I’m going to the branch company!” Xu Wanting said.
“Alright! But sis, what about Xu Mo… is he really okay?” Xu Manni looked at Xu Wanting.
“What do you think could be the problem?” Xu Wanting replied.
“I think it’s no big deal if he leaves our family! Why are Dad and Mom crying?” Xu Manni couldn’t understand.
Hearing this, Xu Wanting sighed, “You should just rest well at the hotel!”
With that, she didn’t bother to explain further and turned to leave.
…
On the other side.
Xu Mo left Tsinghua Garden in a good mood, without any hint of unhappiness.
There were still some places in Tsinghua University they hadn’t visited, and he wanted to explore them thoroughly.
Once he was familiar with everything, he could adapt more quickly and start other studies and work.
As for the Xu family, they would have to be put on hold for now.
He believed that the Xu family wouldn’t be having an easy time right now.
When his enemies were suffering, he felt relieved and happy, and he had more energy and strength to do things.
The dark clouds had passed, and the sun would eventually shine through!

The whole family is despicable, but the mother is a colossal bitch. I sincerely hopes she suffers throughout the entire novel.
