Delayed Affection is Cheaper than Grass; Why Cry When I Depart? Chapter 9.2

Xu Wanting couldn’t recall how she made it home from the hospital, feeling completely numb.

As the CEO of the family company, a graduate of a prestigious university, and a highly capable student, she had always been rational and methodical, making decisions with precision and without emotional interference.

But when did she become like this?

Was it because of the first video about Xu Mo that her third sister, Xu Manni, posted in their group chat? Or was it something else?

Or perhaps, subconsciously, she didn’t see Xu Mo as her real younger brother, but merely as someone to toy with and manipulate at will!

She hadn’t realized that she had never taken him seriously, even when he brought her food and every time he saw her, smiling brightly.

Xu Wanting had only seen him as a burden, an object she was eager to get rid of. Even when she occasionally teased and ridiculed him, she didn’t see any issue with it!

But now, she only felt cold!

Her entire body felt icy and piercingly cold.

Xu Wanting walked back to the luxurious Xu family mansion in a daze.

At this moment, Xie Bingyan, Xu Deming, and others were still chatting and watching TV in the living room.

Second sister Xu Xuehui, third sister Xu Manni, and her brother Xu Junzhe were all there.

It’s estimated that the fourth and fifth siblings have gone back to work. They are usually quite busy.

Despite their son being missing for seven or eight days, Dad, Xu Deming, and Mom, Xie Bingyan, seemed completely unconcerned, appearing calm and composed.

Xu Wanting suddenly didn’t know what kind of presence Xu Mo was in the Xu family, feeling a wave of unreality wash over her!

Retribution is inevitable: it’s only a matter of time. When the time comes, everything will be settled!

She remembered Xu Mo’s words!

“Wanting, where did you go? The storm isn’t over yet!” Xie Bingyan turned around and asked as she saw her return.

Xu Wanting looked at them, opened her mouth to speak, but suddenly, her phone rang!

“Mr. Xu, we’ve unlocked the phone. Should we bring it over to you?”

“Sure, bring it over! I’ll be waiting at home for you.”

“Okay! Mr. Xu, I’ll be there soon!”

After ending the call, Xu Wanting took a deep breath, holding back the tears that welled up in her eyes. “I’m fine! I’m just a bit tired. I’ll go rest in my room for a while.”

“Are you okay, Wanting?” Her father, seeing her pale complexion, asked with concern.

“I’m fine!” Xu Wanting declined his kindness and went upstairs to rest.

The secretary quickly brought over the phone.

It was Xu Mo’s phone.

However, Xu Mo’s phone was no longer in use!

Xu Manni had hidden it and he had changed his WeChat and other numbers!

After returning to her room, Xu Wanting briefly composed herself and took out the phone to unlock it.

But suddenly, she hesitated, feeling too afraid to proceed.

She was afraid of seeing something that scared her.

Most likely, this phone would have a lot of records.

After a moment of silence, Xu Wanting wiped away her tears, took a deep breath, and finally opened the phone to see what was inside.

Inside were numerous photos, all of them featuring her family or her parents. There were also pictures of the luxurious Xu family mansion and cars, along with images of the family business.

A few of these were family portraits. It seemed that after Xu Manni got hold of the phone, she hadn’t accessed it, leaving everything intact.

Xu Wanting scrolled through and found WeChat messages. She took a look and imported the records into her laptop to go through them from the beginning.

As the eldest sister, she wanted to understand Xu Mo as much as possible, to know everything about him, and to comprehend why he felt the need to leave the Xu family.

Only by going through these records could she fully comprehend Xu Mo’s experiences over the past four years!

The phone contained a wealth of information, including photos, data, some study materials, and various chat records. There were quite a few chat records.

As a high-achieving student, Xu Wanting knew that snooping through someone’s chat records was extremely impolite. However, at this moment, she couldn’t afford to be concerned about such matters. She simply wanted to gain a better understanding.

Quickly skimming through the data, Xu Wanting didn’t find anything useful at first. But soon, she came across something that shook her.

“Tang Lei, this is my eldest sister, Xu Wanting! Isn’t she beautiful?”

Accompanying the message was a photo of her at the company.

The photo was placed on the family’s living room wall of achievements, not just hers, but also those of her second sister, Xu Xuehui, third sister, Xu Manni, and others.

Yet, Xu Mo took a separate photo of her and sent it to his friends.

Xu Wanting continued reading.

“They say my eldest sister graduated from Tsinghua University and studied abroad for a year at MIT! Do you know MIT? I’ve heard that this university is incredibly prestigious! My eldest sister is a high-achieving student from Tsinghua University and MIT!”

“She’s knowledgeable and well-educated!”

“I just found out! I asked Zhao Ma, and she told me about it! Zhao Ma is our family’s maid! She said my eldest sister has been outstanding since childhood, with excellent academic performance and is one of the most formidable individuals!”

“Look at this certificate. It’s from when my eldest sister was in high school. She was ranked first in the liberal arts and second in the sciences!”

Xu Wanting held her breath, checking the timestamp on the record. She found that this message was sent by Xu Mo four years ago, around the time he had just arrived at the Xu family and was not yet familiar with them. It seemed to be the first time he learned about her achievements.

“And, I’ll tell you, my eldest sister was also in the top 100 in the provincial college entrance examination, ranking first in mathematics. Zhao Ma just told me!”

“Huanxi, do you know? This is my eldest sister! She’s managing our family’s business and is the CEO of the company!”

“Huanxi, look, this is a photo of my eldest sister shaking hands with Deputy Mayor Li! This is a photo of her being recognized as a young entrepreneur, even an outstanding one!”

“I heard from Zhao Ma that there’s no shortage of people pursuing my eldest sister, and they come from all over the city!”

“All these certificates in a row are from when my eldest sister was studying!”

“Haha, Tang Lei, Huanxi, look at how many there are! There’s first place in geography, first place in math, excellent student awards, outstanding youth in the city… I’ve heard that my eldest sister has always been extremely clever and talented!”

“Huanxi, I’ve never seen anyone as amazing as my eldest sister! If I had just one-tenth, no, just one-hundredth of her talent, that would be fantastic!”

“Sigh—”

Upon reaching this point, Xu Wanting suddenly covered her mouth, preventing herself from making a sound as tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision.

This… this couldn’t be possible?

This was impossible!

Xu Mo had never told her about any of this.

And he had never asked her about these things.

I’m not getting my hopes anymore about this lady lol. Unless she’s sending MC cash and apology and promise to keep his crazy family away. I don’t want it.

    Cash, apology and distance only
