DLSRWAR Chapter 36 His wife had been a bit too wild in her younger days.
Ye Hancheng clumsily scrambled off the motorcycle, dodging Qin Yumian’s swinging fists while asking in confusion, “Sports rep, what are you doing?”
Qin Yumian didn’t reply. Seeing that he had dodged her punch, she swiftly aimed a kick at his lower abdomen.
Ye Hancheng quickly brought his hands down to protect his most sensitive area.
His wife could hit him anywhere, but not there.
Seeing this, Qin Yumian frowned slightly and stopped her foot just as it was about to land on the young man. Instead, she abruptly stomped down on the top of Ye Hancheng’s foot.
The pain made Ye Hancheng grimaced.
She shot the young man a light glance, then decided not to pursue the matter further. Turning away, she walked towards the school gate.
Ye Hancheng quickly forgot about his foot pain and hurried after her. “Sports rep, wait for me!”
By this time, the school gate was already locked. There was only one way to get into the school—by climbing over the wall.
Ye Hancheng looked at the wall, which was taller than his wife, and suggested, “Sports rep, maybe you could climb onto my shoulders to get over…”
Before he could finish, he watched as Qin Yumian effortlessly scaled the wall with smooth, practiced movements. In the blink of an eye, she was already on the other side.
Ye Hancheng: “…”
Fuck.
Wasn’t she a bit too skilled at this?
Fighting and wall-climbing—had his wife been a bit too wild in her younger days?
Snapping out of his thoughts, Ye Hancheng quickly climbed over the wall as well.
Qin Yumian wasn’t waiting for him at the base of the wall; by the time Ye Hancheng landed, she was already several meters ahead.
The male and female dormitories weren’t next to each other. The first part of the path was shared, but near the dorms, the road split into two.
Even though Ye Hancheng wanted to say something to Qin Yumian, he knew he couldn’t follow her all the way to the girls’ dormitory.
Before she reached her dorm, Qin Yumian heard an angry voice coming from the water room, “Who the hell dumped the hot water I filled in before the evening self-study? Where’s the decency?”
She turned a corner on the stairs, and soon she was at her dormitory. The door was wide open, as was the door of the dormitory across the hall.
Hao Jiajia dragged a chair to the doorway and joined the girls from the opposite dorm in a card game where the loser had to stick notes on their forehead.
She already had several sticky notes plastered on her forehead and held a few cards in her hand. “Don’t move, it’s my turn to draw a card.”
After hesitating for a while between the cards held by the girl across from her, Hao Jiajia finally picked one by intuition and flipped it over.
“Damn!”
“Hahahaha, stick it on!” The girl across from her grabbed a sticky note and stuck it onto Hao Jiajia’s face.
Hao Jiajia looked utterly defeated. As she caught sight of Qin Yumian approaching, she waved with her face covered in notes. “Sports rep, you’re back.”
The girls from the opposite dorm, who were also from their class, called out, “Sports rep, want to join us?”
Hao Jiajia looked at the girl who spoke with wide-eyed shock. “Zhang Yun, are you serious?”
She couldn’t believe Zhang Yun had invited the sports rep to join them, as if she had forgotten the last time someone got their face covered in sticky notes.
Zhang Yun quickly covered her mouth, clearly realizing she had made a mistake.
Fortunately, Qin Yumian wasn’t interested in the game. “You guys go ahead. I’m going to take a shower.”
Hao Jiajia turned and shouted after her, “Sports rep, there’s hot water in my thermos. You can use it if you want.”
Qin Yumian responded with a simple, “Okay.”
When she came out of the shower, Hao Jiajia was no longer playing with Zhang Yun and the others. Instead, she was lying on her bed, listening to music with her headphones on.
Seeing Qin Yumian emerge from the bathroom in her pajamas, Hao Jiajia took off her headphones and asked curiously, “Sports rep, how was the dinner tonight?”
Qin Yumian, towel in hand, drying her hair, gave her a puzzled look. “What do you mean?”
Hao Jiajia elaborated, “I mean, did anything interesting happen?”
After all, her “Dad” (Ye Hancheng) had been there. If nothing had happened, she would feel like she wasn’t doing her job as a spy very well.
Qin Yumian replied calmly, “No.”
Hao Jiajia seemed disappointed. “Huh? Nothing at all?”
Qin Yumian gave her a sidelong glance. “What are you hoping to happen?”
Of course it should have been a love triangle showdown! When rivals in love meet, shouldn’t there be sparks flying everywhere?
Hao Jiajia: Damn those teen idol romance dramas for misleading me!
Qin Yumian and Hao Jiajia’s beds were opposite each other; Hao Jiajia occupied the lower bunk while Qin Yumian slept on the upper one.
Once her hair was dry, Qin Yumian climbed up to her bed and went to sleep. Since she didn’t have a phone, she quickly drifted off after lying down for only a short while.
…
The next morning, as soon as she arrived in the classroom, Qin Yumian began borrowing homework to copy. Hao Jiajia helped her with the English exam paper. Thankfully, she had chosen the science track; unlike liberal arts students who had to copy lengthy texts for subjects like politics and history, which could practically break one’s hand.
Even so, by the time she reached the end, Qin Yumian’s handwriting had noticeably changed.
Ye Hancheng had stayed up late the previous night and, upon arriving at the classroom, slumped over his desk to catch up on sleep. He didn’t approach Qin Yumian, but even if he had, she wouldn’t have paid him any attention—she was too busy copying homework.
Big Fatty and Wu Yu were also sprawled over their desks, asleep; they had actually spent the entire night playing at the KTV.
By the time they woke up, three classes had already passed.
Wu Yu eagerly rushed over to share some gossip with Qin Yumian. Sensing the moment, Hao Jiajia tactfully swapped seats with Ye Hancheng.
“Last night, Old Zheng confessed to Chen Siya,” Wu Yu began excitedly. “But she turned him down. I heard from Old Xu that this was Old Zheng’s third confession to her. Who would’ve thought he was so persistent?”
Big Fatty squeezed in beside them, grabbing a piece of beef jerky and tossing it into his mouth. “Anyone could tell that Chen Siya doesn’t like Old Zheng. They barely exchanged a few words all evening. But guess what? When I stepped out of the private room yesterday, I saw Chen Siya talking to Brother Han.”
Unlike the oblivious Big Fatty, Wu Yu was more perceptive. If Chen Siya was talking to Ye Hancheng, what else could it be about but a confession?
He sneaked a glance at Qin Yumian, noticing her calm and indifferent expression. Wu Yu couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.
Could it be that Qin Yumian knew about Chen Siya confessing to Brother Han?
Wu Yu cautiously probed, “Sports rep, did you and Brother Han have a fight?”
Qin Yumian, her expression unchanging, continued flipping through the comic book in front of her. “No.”
Wu Yu: “…”
How is this not the look of someone who had a fight? You might as well have “I’m really pissed off” written across your face.
Wu Yu elbowed Big Fatty beside him, signaling with a glance that they should retreat.
Big Fatty, oblivious, let out a confused “Huh?” He completely missed Wu Yu’s hint and thought he also wanted to eat beef jerky, so he generously extended the snack toward him.
Wu Yu: “…”
This class was really tough to lead.
Wu Yu had no choice but to yank Big Fatty up forcefully. “I need to go to the bathroom, come with me.”
Big Fatty teased him, “Wu Yu, why are you acting like a girl? You even need someone to accompany you just to go to the bathroom.”
Wu Yu: “…” I’ll endure it.
As soon as the two left, a heavy silence settled between Qin Yumian and Ye Hancheng.
Ye Hancheng rubbed his nose, then lay down on his desk, tilting his head to look at the girl beside him. He flashed a small grin, revealing two tiny tiger teeth. “Sports rep, are you still angry with me?”
Qin Yumian kept her eyes firmly on the comic book in her hands, saying nothing.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Ye Hancheng coughed lightly, straightened up, and spoke with a serious face, “I was wrong. I won’t suddenly lift you onto the bike like that again.”
