DLSRWAR Chapter 8 Transferring to another school is related to my lifelong event.
As soon as Qin Yumian lifted her gaze, she was met with a barrage of angry words.
“I’m teaching a class, and yet you’re hiding under the desk reading a comic book. Do you have any respect for me as your teacher?” Chen Lanping glared at her furiously. “If you don’t want to attend my class, then get out and stand.”
With that, Chen Lanping, in a fit of frustration, threw the comic book she had in her hand out the window.
Qin Yumian looked at her expressionlessly, then stood up slowly. Without bothering to retrieve her book, she simply walked out of the classroom.
Chen Lanping spat out in irritation behind her. “I must have been cursed for eight lifetimes to end up with a student like you.”
The comic book landed in the garden area on the first floor, and Qin Yumian, after waiting in the corridor for a couple of minutes, went downstairs to retrieve it.
The cover was slightly dirtied, but Qin Yumian didn’t mind. Leaning against the wall outside the classroom, she continued reading the remaining pages of her comic book.
“Sports rep.” Yang Mao whispered to her when Chen Lanping wasn’t looking. “Here.”
As he spoke, he discreetly slipped a handful of sunflower seeds through the gap in the window to her.
One could say he was quite generous in sharing.
Qin Yumian: “…”
…
After leaving Qin’s house, Ye Hancheng immediately called his brother to discuss transferring schools.
Ye Zhizhou was silent for a moment on the other end of the line, then spoke, “Reason?”
He knew his brother well enough to understand that such a decision wasn’t made without cause.
Ye Hancheng made up a reason on the spot. “I want to study hard and get into Tsinghua-Peking University.”
Ye Hancheng was attending a private school in the capital where most of his classmates were rich second-generation students preparing to study abroad. Naturally, there was little focus on academic performance, and his own grades weren’t stellar either.
Now he claimed he wanted to study hard to get into top universities, and Ye Zhizhou could only think that his brother’s brain must be malfunctioning.
“If you want to study hard, you could transfer to Hangzhou.”
Their maternal family was based in Hangzhou, so Ye Hancheng could stay with them if he transferred there.
Moreover, the educational standards in Hangzhou were no worse than those in the capital.
“I won’t go to Hangzhou,” Ye Hancheng insisted stubbornly. “Big brother, if you don’t help me transfer, I’ll go to Dad.”
Ye Zhizhou calmly replied, “Do you think he’ll agree to let you transfer to some obscure small town?”
Ye Hancheng: “…”
If his brother didn’t agree, then their father definitely wouldn’t.
“Big brother, I really have to transfer to Sangcheng No. 2 High School. This is about your dear little brother’s lifelong event.”
Your future happiness?
On the other end of the line, Ye Zhizhou raised an eyebrow. “Are you serious about transferring?”
“Of course, more serious than anything.”
“Alright.”
Ye Zhizhou continued, “But I have one condition.”
Ye Hancheng’s excitement lasted barely two seconds before he frowned and asked, “What condition?”
“In six months, you must reach the admission score for Tsinghua-Peking University,” Ye Zhizhou said leisurely. “Didn’t you say you wanted to transfer so you could study hard and get into one of them? So this condition isn’t too much, right?”
Ye Hancheng: “…”
Too much!
Way too much!
He had scored only 200 points on his last exam, more than 400 points short of the requirement for Tsinghua-Peking University. How was he supposed to improve by over 400 points in just six months?
When his ;little brother didn’t respond, Ye Zhizhou assumed he had given up and said, “Can’t do it? Then about transferring…”
Ye Hancheng interrupted him, “I agree.”
It seemed someone in Sangcheng really had captured this silly little brother’s heart, Ye Zhizhou thought.
“I’ll have my secretary handle your transfer.”
…
The final exams were fast approaching, set for July 18th.
While other classes were busy preparing for their exams, the second year’s Class 4 remained as chaotic as ever.
Some students were playing games, others were gambling, a few were applying makeup, and only a handful were actually studying.
Qin Yumian had been roped in by Hao Jiajia and the other girls as a model for their braiding practice.
With an air of calm, Qin Yumian let the girls take turns messing with her hair while she played cards with Zhao Qian and the others.
Just then, Yang Mao, known for his loud mouth, burst into the room and loudly announced, “Breaking news, we’ve got a transfer student!”
Hao Jiajia, carefully holding the freshly braided hair she had just finished, didn’t even bother to look up. “So what if there’s a transfer student? What’s the big deal?”
Yang Mao yanked another student who had been playing cards with Qin Yumian and the others out of his seat and boldly took his place. “It’s not unusual to have a transfer student, but do you know which class he’s transferring into?” he asked with a hint of mystery in his voice.
“Which class?” Hao Jiajia guessed, “Could it be our class?”
Yang Mao nodded. “I just took a peek outside the office. It’s a male student, and both Sun Erniang and Lao Ba were there, so chances are high he’s joining our class.”
Hao Jiajia was surprised. “Lao Ba personally handled it?”
Lao Ba was the academic director of their school, and anyone important enough to be personally welcomed by him was surely someone with a significant background.
“Probably just another rich kid here to pass the time.”
Zhao Qian shot a fleeting glance at Yang Mao.
Realizing his comment might have unintentionally included Zhao Qian, Yang Mao quickly added, “I wasn’t talking about you, Brother Zhao.”
Zhao Qian didn’t seem to mind. He tossed down his cards, stood up, and said, “Since there’s a new student, let’s go take a look.”
Hao Jiajia hurriedly started undoing the small braids she’d made in Qin Yumian’s hair. “Wait, let me fix the sports rep’s hair first.”
Qin Yumian helped as well, but after her straight black hair had been messed with so much, it had become slightly wavy. She decided to tie it back into a low ponytail with a hair tie.
“Sports rep, let’s go check out the new student,” Hao Jiajia said, tugging Qin Yumian along as they followed Zhao Qian and the others toward the office.
Qin Yumian wasn’t particularly interested in the transfer student and stood on the outskirts of the crowd while Hao Jiajia tried to push her way to the front.
A buzz of voices could be heard—
“I see him! It’s really a male student, and he looks pretty tall. Must be around 180 cm, right?”
“From the side, he seems kind of handsome. And his body proportions are good… Oh, wait, he’s looking over here…”
“Fuck! That face is top-tier!”
“I heard that guy next to him calling him ‘Second Young Master,’ so he really is some rich kid?”
“Seriously? You can hear that from this far away?”
The noise in the hallway naturally reached the ears of those in the office. The head teacher frowned and motioned for Chen Lanping to go outside and handle the situation.
Chen Lanping nodded, her expression stern as she stepped out of the office and shouted, “What are you all doing standing around out here? Get moving, or you’ll be writing a self-reflection essay!”
The crowd quickly dispersed in small groups under Chen Lanping’s stern gaze, though some of the students from Class 4 rolled their eyes at her retreating figure.
Hao Jiajia returned to Qin Yumian’s side, her excitement evident. “Sports rep, the new transfer student is really handsome. He could totally be the most handsome guy in the class—or even the school!”
Yang Mao scoffed, “You girls are so shallow. What if he’s just a pretty boy?”
Zhao Qian remained silent, glancing at Qin Yumian. Seeing that her expression hadn’t changed and she seemed uninterested in the new student, he finally relaxed.
