Chapter 3: The Awakening of the Bloodline System

In the dimly lit basement, which was filled with a foul, rancid smell, Lu Qing slowly opened his eyes. The scene before him left him utterly confused.

He saw the campus beauty, Senior Su Lingwei, holding a shovel tightly in both hands, digging vigorously into the ground. She had already dug a large pit with a diameter of about four meters.

And there he was, lying on the edge of the pit, one of his legs already stretched into it. The yellow delivery outfit he was wearing had been torn into pieces and scattered nearby.

Lu Qing vaguely sensed something was wrong, his face full of confusion as he asked, “Senior, are you burying me?”

Clearly, upon hearing his voice, Senior Su turned around, just as shocked as he was, and looked at him with strange eyes. “Hmm? You’re not dead? Your heartbeat was gone just a moment ago. Could it be… that I accidentally initiated the first embrace?”

Lu Qing didn’t quite catch what Su Lingwei muttered under her breath, but before he could react, she tossed aside the shovel and walked toward him.

“Open your mouth!” Before he could respond, two slender, cold fingers pried open his mouth and began exploring inside.

The scene felt as if he were holding Senior Su’s fingers in his mouth. He twisted his head uncomfortably, trying to spit out these intrusive fingers, especially since they were covered in dirt.

“Don’t move!” Su Lingwei commanded in a firm tone, stopping his struggles. Her fingers continued to probe his mouth, finally resting in one place. A look of surprise crossed her stunning face. “There really is one?”

Lu Qing had no idea what she meant by that, and just as he was about to question her, he felt her fingers tap lightly on one of his teeth.

In an instant, his canine teeth seemed to trigger some kind of mechanism. They suddenly became sharp and elongated, pushing out from his lips. With the slightest movement, the sharp fangs were exposed.

“Open your eyes!” Senior Su immediately gave her next command.

Before Lu Qing could respond, her fingers flipped open his eyelids.

Su Lingwei’s face drew closer, and a sweet, yet oddly strange fragrance wafted toward him. The scent was both wicked and incredibly tempting. Especially for him in this moment, it felt strangely soothing.

“So, the campus beauty’s pupils are red?” Lu Qing was shocked to find that Senior Su’s pupils were, indeed, red.

“Pupils changing color, fangs growing, and your heartbeat has stopped. It seems that when I was feeding, some of my blood accidentally entered your body. So now, you should be considered my first embrace.

Though, you’re still just a fledgling, the last of the bloodline.” Su Lingwei coldly concluded.

Lu Qing was taken aback. First embrace? Bloodline? Vampire? Could this be some kind of role-playing gone too far?

“I am a vampire, and a vampire count at that. It might be hard for you to accept, but that’s the truth. I’m sorry,” Su Lingwei said, her words final as she sat down beside the large pit she had dug. She stared into space, her long legs curled up in a graceful arc.

Lu Qing, half-believing her, shifted his focus back to himself.

As he did so, he was stunned to realize that the world around him seemed completely transformed.

Everything before him was now vividly clear, as if it had been washed clean. He could even see the dust particles floating in the air; the sound of insects wriggling deep in the earth was like it was right next to his ear; he could even hear the flow of blood within his veins, and strange smells filled his nostrils.

Not only that, but his strength seemed to have increased several times over. The sharp feeling on his lips made him acutely aware of the fangs, unmistakably a vampire’s trademark.

“Could it be that I’ve really been turned into a vampire…” Lu Qing began to question his own body.

However, his attention was quickly diverted by something else, as he caught a strong scent of blood.

Turning his head, he was taken aback when he saw a pile of things in the corner. Without thinking, he pointed and asked, “What’s that?”

“Corpses. The ones who attacked me yesterday. You can go take a look,” Su Lingwei said, without even turning her head.

Suppressing his discomfort, Lu Qing walked closer.

If he wanted to confirm whether he had really become a vampire, then these so-called corpses might be the best proof.

Limbs, thighs, heads, intestines… the sight was gruesome. He covered his nose, extending a hand to touch, trying to verify if these were real.

Just then, a system notification suddenly sounded in his ears.
