Chapter 13: Preparing to Return Home

Yunzhi had no objections to Rulan’s arrangements. If she were to take all her belongings back to the Yun Mansion, they would likely be taken by others.

Since she was returning to the Yun Mansion, Yunzhi naturally had to send someone to inform them beforehand.

“What did you say?” Yun’s mother, Mrs. Xu, looked at the old woman sent by Yunzhi with a shocked expression, asking, “The eldest daughter and the Marquis have divorced?”

“Yes, Madam!” The old woman nodded and said, “The eldest daughter has already packed her things and is preparing to return home. She specifically asked this old servant to come and inform Madam.”

“Why would she divorce? She’s fine,” Xu’s face looked a little ugly. Her second daughter was currently being considered for marriage. If others knew she had a divorced sister, who would want to marry her?

Sure enough, the eldest daughter was here to cause trouble. She was already married, yet she wouldn’t let her live in peace.

The old woman glanced at Mrs. Xu and respectfully replied, “Madam, on the day of the wedding, the Marquis left before even entering the bridal chamber with the eldest daughter. Today, the Marquis returned, but he brought a woman and a child. The old woman originally thought that by explaining the reason, Mrs. Xu wouldn’t be so angry. However, she became even angrier. She smashed the teacup on the table and started cursing.

“Yes!” A maid responded and went to find the eldest son, Yun Feng.

Not long after, Yun Feng arrived at Mrs. Xu’s courtyard with his wife, Lin Meijiao. As soon as they entered the room, they noticed that Mrs. Xu’s expression was a bit grim.

The husband and wife exchanged glances before stepping forward to greet Mrs. Xu and asked, “Mother, what is it that you need us for?”

“Feng’er, your elder sister, that wretch, has divorced the Marquis of Dingyuan and is preparing to return home. Mother wants to ask you two what you think about this.”

“What? Elder sister divorced and is returning home?” Yun Feng and Lin Meijiao were both shocked and couldn’t believe it.

Yunzhi had been sent to her maternal grandfather’s house in Jiangnan since she was young. She didn’t return until her family found a marriage for her when she reached the age of marriage.

Mrs. Xu looked at the old woman sent by Yunzhi and instructed, “Ma Shi, tell the eldest son and his wife the reason.”
